It's bring back remembers And I was 11 year old back then
I remember this! What a fun, feel-good promo! I was 14 years old when this promo was on TV in 1982, and I remember it well. It's so great to see it again! Brings back memories! Back when TV was family-friendly! It makes me feel nostalgic! Anybody gave a time machine? I wanna go back to the good ol' days!
Brings back memories. I was an extra for crowd shots in a 1982 ABC "Come on Along" series of promotions, similar to this video link. They used a busload of students from the University of Southern California. Managed to smooch Scott Baio on the cheek and won a television in the drawing afterwards.
Good story! Thanks for posting that little nugget.
Question Elizabeth Do you Recall A version of come on along where they had all the stars on a stage doing a sort of chorus line high kicking type of number? I was only in the 4th grade but I swear I remembered that..Help me out here anyone.
@@greateranointingtabernacle7882 This video probably: czcams.com/video/4S0Bi1bEYDs/video.html Glad that your question prompted me to further explore memories of that era.
@@elizabethbee3763 Thank You For The Try. I Distinctly Remember Them Saying Come On Along With ABC... And I Remember Seeing Stephanie Powers From Hart To Hart. High Stepping/ Kicking. It's Driving Me Bonkers Trying To Solve This Conundrum.
Elizabeth, I'd like to talk to you about your experience for my upcoming book where I will cover the classic ABC fall campaigns.
0:50 “When you wanna be in great company…” gets me every time
Watching this and realizing how many actors have passed on just makes you think about how much time has passed since this aired.
The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center makes it more obvious.
And how much worse the world has gotten since then. The 80's were amazing and always had this feeling of positivity like anything can happen a far cry from what the world is today.
Ah good times. Sad that so many of those people have passed on.
These commercials always pumped me up for some reason! (dork I know 😂)
They had the best graphics and the best campaigns! ABC was dripping with GOAT!

@@TnseWlms no, Greatest of all time... TJ Hooker, The Fall Guy, Scooby-Doo, The Greatest American Hero, Monday Night Football... The list goes on... ABC had a great 1982-83.
Certainly ABC's very best image campaign, exceptionally well done and very catchy!
I couldn't agree with you more. ❤
This is going to be stuck in my head all week. It's so catchy!
3 jingles of 1982
1. NBC Just watch us now

In 1982 I watched ABC in the Huntington/Charleston, WV market on WOWK Channel 13 Huntington, WV until the network moved to WCHS TV 8 and CBS moved to WOWK in 1986.
I loved watching this promo when it first aired.

And THAT Australia is how u do a network promo!
Yeah... we (9) copied it later on haha, but I prefer this version despite being Australian.

What great song. It sticks in head all day !
I love this.

OMG...the Twin Towers :(

It's interesting they added Laverne & Shirley's Cindy Williams to this fall promo since she was only in the first two episodes of the season. I guess they didn't want to lose any viewers
And it would appear that Cindy's solo shot was done prior to her becoming pregnant. I can't find her in any of the group shots, so the solos may have been done earlier and the group ones later in the summer. By then, Cindy had quit.
I've seen all 13 episodes of Amanda's by the Sea with Bea Arthur, which premiered on February 10th that season.

Was the ABC logo at the end created with animation or primitive CGI?
Primitive CGI.
@@SuperAV21 Since TRON was also released in 1982 and used CGI for the light cycle scene, it was probably the same effects artists or similar technology.
@@DP-hy4vh The light cycles, themselves, were done by MAGi/SynthaVision (of Elmsford, NY), while everything else [between 15 to 20 minutes of CGI animation] was done by Information International, Inc. (A.K.A. Triple-I; of Culver City, CA), Digital Effects Inc. (of New York, NY), & Robert Abel & Associates (of California). All four of those computer graphics firms [in 1981-82] weren't collaborating on Tron as a unified party, but as separate parties whose styles plus technology differed from one another as well as each other in the finished film.
@@DP-hy4vh I believe Abel worked on the 1981 and 1982 IDs with Harry Marks, but I can't confirm that (someone on Logopedia said they were involved).

sadly MTV ruined the attention spans of viewers and three minute image promos like this would never fly in today's quick-cut, Pokemon seizure inducing flashing media landscape... 😔
That seizure-inducing Pokemon episode (Cyber Soldier Porygon) was banned from airing outside of Japan in 1998, after kids were hospitalized after watching the episode when it premiered in Japan in 1997.

What's ironic here is that Happy Days, Three's Company, Too Close for Comfort are some of the most abysmally and painfully unfunny shows every made...
