- Exclusive interview with Mike Dawes chatting to Andertons Music Co. for a 'Captain Anderton meets' session, talking and demoing the #ToneWoodAmp, why it's Mike's 'best friend' and much more.... ;-)
2:15 I could listen to that progression for hours.
John C Same. Mind blown he was playing that with this tool.
same
I CAN'T STAND IT.
Dude same same same oml
Name of the song plz
Once you play with it you can’t stop playing with it, truer words have never been spoken...
he really looks like shaggy from the Scooby Doo movie
Fuck. Thats why I came in this section, for this comment. Thank you!
This is what Shaggy looks like after some adderol instead of budz
Mike was once on a festival line up before my band a few years ago. Hes a lovely guy, and made the same amount of noise as our three price with just him and a guitar. Incredible musician
Been playing acoustic for 49 years, and have seen most of the advancements in pickups and pots, but this thing ToneWoodAmp is flat out genius!!! No outboard crap to deal with and you're good to go!
Before u get this product u will need an under saddle pickup if nylon smh I spent alot of money for issues with this they should have included that info..I have written to them n they were quite helpful with setting it up because I get a lot of feedback so u have to (tone) things down a bit or vice versa n wen plugged into an (amp) phenomenal🤯
1:05 I could listen to forever
Right? Everyone's all 2:15! 2:15! But I'm like 1:06, 1:06...
Had the same feeling like you, knowing it from somewhere . I guess it is À la pêche Flying Pop's but finally I think it is interpretation from it.
i recently got a friend to pick up guitar again thx to your tonewoodamp. he had a similiar reaction to this :-) and i think that he does not want to play without it anymore. THX!
The tuning is DADGAD btw
Holy fart . Thanks 🤘🏾🤘🏾
You cannot spell DADGAD without WINNING.

This video is SO worth the price of admission!
"This thing has just changed my life because.... [plays badass acoustic lick]."
LOL - this sounds awesome.
They should be mandatory for all acoustics! Nice work guys.
So this thing, man, has changed my life because 🎶🎶🎶🎶😳🎶🎶🎶🎶
Because it comes with a free pipe (?)
Mike is an amazing player! Jude Gold brought me here. And make sure to stick around for the credits 'n' stuff.
By far the best Anderton’s video yet!
Because it didn't go on and on...and on... for an hour? I agree!
I'm only here because I want the dumb Tonewood Amp ads to go the hell away, and I'm amazed at this dude's playing. Just beautiful, man.
Same here.
Mike is Awesome!
I agree, once you play with it, you can never not play with it.😉
Just heard about this for the first time today and ordered one...cannot wait to get it!
amazing love the video ending was awesome had me laughing thanks needed that
Craziest guitar intention of the decade !
Its like virtual reality that is real.
2:13 That chord progression has changed my life, like holy f...
What song is it?
Haha same here. I originally heard it in the Tonewood ad on Facebook and it caught my ear. I’ve tried to figure it out and have gotten close. I’m pretty certain it’s in drop d.
The tuning is dadgad
Your videos are really awesome. It's great to see people really loving music and what they do.
At 2:15 it sounds very similar to Andy McKee’s drifting 45 seconds into the somg
AWESOME! I just ordered one about 5 min ago as I'm really getting into Mike Dawes' playing style and I even set up a lesson with Mike for Dec. 13th! Looking forward to playing with the Tonewood amp as it seems REALLY cool! :)
Should be getting one of these and a Yamaha apx in the mail today.
The anticipation is killing me
I love the ToneWood Amp. Has changed my acoustic world.
This thing would make me want to play acoustic all day.
"Once you play with it, you can't ever not play with it".
I'm 66, and this is a fact. 😁
I love how they make a big deal over how "dry it goes"... They're just literally turning the thing off LMFAO
ToneWoodAmp This is a really useful interface, & I can even hook it up to an amp when recording.
Jesus what is that edit at 0:53 - 0:54 mark it’s like sleep paralysis demons are looking into my soul
I know there are so many of these edits in the video, it’s so weird
lmao wtf haha its so on beat too.
If I placed one of these on my back could I have reverb or delay when I sing? ;)
ok boomer
@@roume.3304 hahahahaha
Back of your head
Sure, but you'd have to swallow the X frame thingamajig.
Yup.
But the sound will go through your hole too
"You see, most blokes will be playing at 10. You’re on 10, all the way up, all the way up...Where can you go from there? Nowhere. What we do, is if we need that extra push over the cliff...Eleven. One louder."
“Have a Listen to the sustain on that. Aahhhh You could go away and have a bite, you’d come back and you’d still hear Ahhhhhhhh.”
bought it, being installed, can't wait. Love your stuff Dawes, and other acoustic finger styles, like Hedges, McKee, Mongrain, Stricagnoli, Misko, Padim, Graham, Gomm, Ross, Wahlsteen, Bellue, Johnson, Reed
, Elliott, Kobrin, Larkins, Case, Atmatzidou, Hall, Barone and a plethora of great Candy Rat composers and musicians who continue to inspire us to play and to listen to the beauty of resonant strings
This guy is probably a sorcerer and he's just using his powers to mess with you.
This is really fun.
I want to try this ToneWoodAmp. Just asking myself if I then play as good a a Mike. 🤔🙄 😂🤣😂🤣
Hope with next upgrade TonewoodAmp guys can add some octaver .. and possible looper ... That would make new great feature ..
0:40 All you're hearing is the sound coming out of the sound hole.
Backwards segment at the end basically sounded like they were speaking dutch...no joke :)
I wish my talent level justified the investment. It looks like a great tool.
it's only 250 bucks... its worth it at any level....
Wow! Great invention!
That was Awesome and Hilarious at the same time!!! ( What is this Mid-Evil Witchery that they speak of)....LOL
Cool!
With this unit can you get a sound from your acoustic that can sound like an electric? I'm doing a short gig where I am only bringing my acoustic but on a couple songs I need to do a solo with a more distorted, crunchy, or overridden electric guitar tone. Can it do that?
So we all need to band together and find what's at 2:15 please.
My first instinct was how similar it sounds to John Mayer's cover of "Free Fallin'"
I have tabs for the progression 2:15 let me know if anyone is interested.
@@davidacosta3874 me please
@@davidacosta3874 would you mind sending the the tab as well
David Acosta Just DM’d you
0:55 EYES FRONT RIGHT NOW
Think the Captain's ears are right. Lee kept saying the sound was coming from the back. It's the back of the guitar that is being vibrated. So probably sound coming off there too.
I don't know the exact chords, but the chord progression at 2:15 is something like Bm-G-D-A.
I need one.
And if you look real close the numbers go up to 11. It's one louder.
What chord progression is he doing at 2:15 onward? I love it!
Please. Send it to Brazil
Cool video, though every time there was a transition it felt like there was a glitch in the matrix.
There is a bit of a misnomer in this video. You can't just swap it from guitar to guitar without the inner magnet cross piece in each guitar. That's held on by a sticky thing inside and once you pop it off, you need new stickies and you'd have to restring or try to put it in with very loose strings.
you dont need to stick if you dont want to. The magnet will hold it in place. The stickies are for permanent fixing
my guitar has a pickup but no volume control ,will this work or do I need a pick up with volume control
have you guys tried this with a semi acoustic e guitar like a Fender Thinline? How does it sounds like?
Whoever Final Cut Pro's your video has a micro-morph dissolve. Very trippy. Maybe another of my flashbacks, though...
Dreaming for this for last2 years.. unfortunately it's not available in india..not possible to shop with other site
Is that microphone hooked up? I understand that the noises are still naturally from the guitar hole but are they actually that loud? Or are we hearing it from a speaker?
That microphone is likely hooked up to one of the speakers in back. That's why it sounded like it was coming from that direction. Still though, awesome product here.
that looks so cool I actually kinda want to try one
a note to the editor please don't use optical flow on the cuts pls ty
2:15 - what is that song? I rly need to know
Did you ever figure out?
Ask Extreme about their unreleased material
lol
sounds like free fallin to me
That's brilliant!
What guitar is that
is that sound not going through the microphone and then the amp behind them lol? I don't get it.. there's an amp behind them.. where else would that sound go? self contained in the audio pack?
I kinda figured out what he's doing at 2:15, amazing little device used by an amazing guitarist
Who needs drugs when all you have to do is watch the 2nd half of this video_DaY MaKeR!
2:50 nasty blues lick confirmed
Has anyone thought about trying this on an electric? Could you control the length of the delays/reverbs to actually cause it to make selective feedback on a distorted electric (that sound would obviously only be in the pickups and in the amp, we wouldn't be looking for any acoustic effects here). It would almost be like what an ebow could do?
I commute by bike with my guitar on my back to play at coffeehouses etc. All I have is a nylon string guitar with no plug-in pickup. So does this also work with guitars with no pickup? Also, does this "amplify", make your guitar sound louder without needing an outside amp? If you take a mic and run it to "input" will it also amplify your voice? In this video they have a mic near the guitar, do they have it turned off? Thanks!
You need a pickup as the output from your guitar is what goes to the input of the Tonewoodamp :)
The guitars headstock looks like Mike Dawes face.
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen 😂😂😂
Is it fair to say that the tonewood amp is dependent on the quality of the guitar it's installed on; therefore only as effective as the guitar itself???
You have a mic by the guitar soundhole. What if that wasn't there?
WHAT GUITAR WAS THAT??? I NEED IT
Cuntz is the name of the guitar maker.. www.cuntz-guitars.de/en/instruments/cwg-23-series
Cool, but too much reverb can be annoying. Is it adjustable? Also, can it amplify cleanly? Thanks!
Sounds amazing but besides the sound processing, does it also amplify the acoustic guitar natural sound volume, a bit?
Whats with the hood Frodo?
I like it.
1:19 - that what she said.
What sorcery is this!?? :D
what is the pickup he is using and can it be put onto several guitars nylon and steel with the same pickup ?
Works with a magnet.. OK!
so it magnetically attaches to the back of the guitar...um, not mine. there's not metal there...how to does this thing stay on? do you have to put a piece of metal in the guitar to make it stay? and if so, how does this metal affect the sound when not using the effect?
You install a super lightweight neo magnet inside your guitar that is easily removed. The Tonewood module sticks to that (through the wood). I’ve been using this on my Gibson J45 for more than four years and it sounds great. It doesn’t affect the normal tone of the guitar when the module is removed.
Why are they speaking Welsh at the end?
anybody figured out what song @2:15 is?
I think it feels kinda weird that you act as if it was a totally new idea and unique for the Tonewood amp. In fact Yamaha developed the basics of this long time ago
and as you know use it in their "Transacoustic" guitars, which have been sold for two years at least.
And yes, the ToneWood amp is much more versatile since possible to move between different guitars and stringinstruments, but it was not their basic idea.
That surprised and overwhelmed you could not possibly have been, right?
Take it easy, killer. The ToneWoodAmp has been around since at least October of 2016, before the Yamaha. I too learned of the Yahama first, thinking it came first. But with a little backstudy, give this guy some credit. Both are great ideas.
2:22 WOAH
what make acoustic guitar you been using there, thanks
What would that sound like on a metal Dobro type guitar?
Take my money now.
Song at 1:06?
Sir, whats the brand of your guitar? Thanks
How loud is it compared to just acoustic guitar?
How dose it go with a guitar that has a dpa 4099g or a similar microphone?
Will this work unplugged?
Does this also work for nylon guitar?
Please let me hear a full song of the start of 2:25 please!!
It sticks to strings?.
Guitar be made of wood lol..
Amazing sound, amazing guitar player
Like Scoob where’d you get that ToneWoodAmp? (He also looks like a drug dealer lol 😂)
Im only here to find out more about the guitar they're playing
