R.I.P Krillin. Really sad to see him pass and Goku being able to feel it and blame himself. Great introduction for Piccolo.
Growing up i saw DBZ before Dragon ball and knew they mentioned Krillin died before and couldn't be revievied. And Piccolo was introduced as Goku's ultimate rival and villain.
That set some high standards and this arc doesn't disappoint.
When it was just Master roshi and the crane hermit left alive they caught the enemy energy they caught it concentrated amd then redirected that was the first Kamehameha. That's how they destroyed piccolo's whole army despite being weaker than the opponents and being out of energy. Also the reason that King piccolo is old is it because he's been on the planet for 400 years but every time he creates a new child prematurely ages. Which is why you never see current piccolo using ability.
Namekians also do age quite a bit in centuries, I mean Kami is that old, too
Also it's morally wrong to create children to use as soldiers, so that's prolly another reason Piccolo doesnt do that 😅
I love the fact that it was Pilaf who unleashed King Piccolo because he’s supposed to be such a joke character. If King Piccolo hadn’t been unleashed, so many storylines never would have even happened.
2:20 Oh, I didn't expect that! The intro only changes visuals starting from Episode 102 in the Japanese version on Japanese DVDs, you guys must have found a version that synced up the English audio to the Japanese footage. Guess that explains why there are Japanese lyrics at the bottom despite the English song playing.
Interesting how Kami and Demon King Piccolo's reatlon dynamics is similar to Beerus and Sumpreme Kai. Both Kami and Supreme Kai are watchers of the world while Beerus and King Piccolo seek destruction. Also, either entity dies if their counterpart is killed.
3:25 Fun fact: this is the first and only time we see Goku disobey Master Roshi
He also disobeyed Roshi to chase after General Blue but the dub changed it so he encouraged Goku to do so.

The only way Pilaf could have known this is that he spied on Goku's friends after his loss 3 years ago and at some point Roshi disgussed this with the turtle. Crane Hermit being the one to release King Piccolo would make more sense but he didn't know about the Dragon Balls so...
Thats assuming that Roshi only discussed this with Turtle at some point. I think that the story of Piccolo's demise has became a legend and Pilaf was desperate to follow it... just like he gets with the constant search for the dragon balls.
The reason Pilaf knew was because the story of King Piccolo terrorizing and conquering the world was a lore that was told and passed on from generation to generation. Simply most people are well known and heard about it at some point in life but as time passes a couple of centuries later most of the current generation that heard of it would think that it's just a horror story that someone made up to scare children but there will always be hardcore believers that believe the story is true among those people.
And the crane hermit is terrified of King Piccolo as much as Master Roshi so it wouldn't make sense that he would be the one to release him and relive all his horrifying past.
@@patrickwinter428 It's strange though that none of the main cast expept Tien hasn't heard of him. Crane was really desperate after his brother's death and his student's betrayal so you never know...
@@DynastyZwarrior90 I suppose it is possible that if Master Shen was in grief and sorrow from his loss and wanting to go on a final suicide mission by releasing King Piccolo to destroy the world and get himself killed by Piccolo in the process.
But personally I think he doesn't care that much about his brother to make him do something to that level of extreme. He's pissed and angry about it, yes, but not sorry. And seems to me like he's the type that values his own survival more than sacrificing his life to end the whole world just to get revenge on a few people.
It would be interesting if someone did a "DB What if" on this, though. I would be interested to watch or read about it. 😁😁😁
