The incident followed a government meeting in the town of Handlova, 150 kilometres north of the capital Bratislava. The interior ministry has described it as an assassination attempt. Slovakia's President has called it a 'brutal and reckless' attack.

Isn't it obvious? It takes time for ambulance to arrive and meanwhile, he'd be left lying on the street, potentially threatened by another attacker and exposed to public scrutiny. His limousine is definitely bullet proof and his security guards are likely trained in evasive driving and first aid and as they are government employees that transport a highly ranking government official, they can use beacon. They can rush him into the hospital as quickly as the ambulance can, but they don't have to wait for the ambulance to arrive.
@@AKuTepion An ambulance is always a part of every leader's squad. so, they won't have to wait for one to arrive. The only think I can think of is either because the car is bullet proof or just people do not make the smartest decisions in a panic situation.

This is exactly the kind of subject that could lose you elections here in the region - it would be seen as a completely needless and unjustified waste of resources, while people are expecting very high standards of "free" healthcare and sometimes are not getting it as much as they'd please. Of course, this would have been prior to this incident. American president sure, maybe, but Slovakian PM... No way.
