    Izzy Gomez has always had a reputation for being sleepy and preferring a cheap tow. But a chance encounter with a certain officious naval tug makes Warrior realise that there is more to Izzy than meets the eye. And after an incident concerning a failed propeller, havoc ensues...
    Here it is! My final video of the year. I always felt that, had more series of TUGS been made, Izzy would have been left out. However, given that he seemed rather one-dimensional in the series, I felt I couldn't write him out of my TUGS stories without exploring his personality a little bit more, and fleshing out possible reasons as to why he acts the way he does in the show. As such, this story came to mind as a means of letting Izzy bow out from the series, as it were. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this story! An early Happy New Year, everyone!

    A Tugs fan story about racism & discrimination, I'm impressed. Not many people make fan stories about racism and/or discrimination. Now we know why Izzy was in such condition and why he asks for cheap prices for tows, and for Bluenose getting his just due for racism & discrimination, and arresting Izzy for an accident wasn't his fault.

    You really did Izzy some long overdue justice. I can actually see something like this being an unused story idea to teach kids about the consequences of racism.

      Thanks! I kinda felt like he needed a proper explanation as to why he was the way he was in the show. That, and as I intended to write him out of my TUGS stories, I felt an exploration into his character and circumstances was appropriate, while also providing an explanation for his absence. I’m glad you liked it, though!

    Bigotry and Prejudice knows no bounds and sometimes blinds those who endorse it. For instance, Bluenose is seen by others, most likely even within the Navy, as an officious pain in the backside whilst Bluenose no doubt sees himself as a diligent worker and a shining example of what the Navy should look like.

    It is high time we got a story focusing on the problematic treatment of Izzy as a character and as an individual in universe. You served to the Nth degree.
    Izzy's situation was realistically portrayed and it's sweet to know that even though you didn't change his character design or accent, you made the best use of it in order to show that while stereotypes are based on some form of truth, these truths don't define the race as a whole.
    The use of Warrior as a character, being the closest we've known be to Izzy, works so perfectly, and him being the most eager instigator of the social justice movement seemed just right for him. He'd really rather die standing than live kneeling.

    Nice to see some justice done to Izzy. For a 1920s Mexican tramp steamer, there is a great deal of potential in his character to explore touchy subjects such as prejudice, war (the Mexican Revolution only a few years earlier had greatly affected Mexican trading) and even American imperialism (as multiple Mexican ports saw highten American military involvement during the 1910s)

    This is a pretty good fan script. It's nice to see a different side of Izzy that also exposed real problems during the time period TUGS was set is. Great work!

  • @user-ln3iu4dc7x

    This story is definitely a respectful one to conclude a surface level "cheap tow" aspect of Izzy's character. I really like your fan stories. Even your CZcams uploaded narrations of Laid Back Brit's story about some Fuel Driver menaces. Plus your made up Thomas character Ned the Furness Railway G1 Tank definitely had some TUGS characteristics in the way which he ended his own life. All within his own free will without being treated as disposable surplus. Never judge a book by it's cover for a "preschool show's" legacy. Like it's online fandom might a baker's dozen quantity of fan content creators more qualified to write some Kanto Clan, Shin Gargoyles:Trust & Betrayal "reset series typed in drafted lines and audio dialog" scripts than a half dozen, instant show runner status type CalArts graduates (sarcasm) Plus I hope you had a nice Christmas

    This is a wonderfully heartfelt deconstruction of Izzy's seemingly stereotypical character and the tropes attached to it. Well done for the recontextualisation. I think it's safe to say that anyone who listens to this is gonna see Izzy Gomez in a whole new light.

    Well, that's wonderful of Izzy. And I'm glad Bluenose was banished from Bigg City Port. But what about Johnny Cuba and Nantucket? What happened to them? Same for Burke and Blair. You haven't made a story about those two yet either.

    • @seangannon1919
      @seangannon1919 Před 6 měsíci

      Speaking of which, what about Johnny Cuba's past with Captain Zero? Could this have anything to do with how the Star Tugs and Z-Stacks' rivalry began?

    • @TARDIS9
      @TARDIS9  Před 6 měsíci

      Actually, yes I do have Nantucket in a story. It’s called ‘Trawler’. Regarding Cuba and Zero’s rivalry, I have no idea. Also, I have no plans for Cuba, Burke or Blaire to be in a TUGS story. That’s for other people to work on, as I have plenty of things going on outside of CZcams.

    • @seangannon1919
      @seangannon1919 Před 6 měsíci

      Well, I don't know about Burke and Blair, but I have an idea for Johnny Cuba. You see, a friend of mine named Kiefer Adams, he did a crossover special called "Bigg City Thomas" where Thomas pays a visit to Bigg City Port from the Island of Sodor. And if you knew the history between them both, you'll remember that the Bigg City Port events only happened in the 1920s, and Percy has only been on the Ffarquhar branch since the late 1950s. Perhaps the Dock Railway might've bought a new engine (an OC of your choice) to help Puffa and Little Owl with their work, as if Thomas never visited Bigg City Port in the 1920s, as by this point he was still learning his way around the North Western Railway. Just go to czcams.com/video/1sp7qKq47X0/video.html and you'll see how Johnny Cuba gets his comeuppance for his plotting of revenge on the two tug fleets.
      By the way, you may wanna to do a TUGS story focusing on Puffa and his friends on the Dock Railway anyway, if you know what I mean.@@TARDIS9

      Again, stuff going on outside of CZcams. I appreciate that you like my stories, and I wanna do more (in fact, I do have more in mind), but I can’t right now. I’ll get round to more content when I have the time, but I can’t guarantee anything. I need to put my job first, and there’s quite a few clubs and societies I’m keenly involved in - one of them being a heritage railway. I hope you understand.
