Great look at this knife! Just wanted to mention that as far as sharpening and maintainence goes, Kershaw has an excellent warranty and service department. They offer lifetime free sharpening. Granted, most folks will have to send the knife in, but I live about 30 min from their Tualatin factory and walked in with a 20cv Iridium with a damaged edge. They sharpened it to like new in less than 10 minutes, for free! Frankly, this kind of service makes me choose one company over another, and I'm happy to EDC more Kershaw knives
Well that's great for you. And not for anyone else.
@CaptDavesSportfishing Uhh... it's free for literally anybody who buys their products. And as for going there in person, the 3.2 million people in the greater Portland Metro area could take advantage of the service, but I guess it's just good for me and not anyone else 🙄
The livewire looks like an awesome otf knife. Kershaw has really stepped up the game lately.
Had to bend the clip out off the body about 2mm to make it easier to pocket.
The rockwell of magnacut at 61 is probably still less tough than say 420HC at 58, but at least you're getting long cutting carbides, and decent toughness that comes close to simple steels with the edge retention of S35VN. People complaining about hardness at 60-61 while im just glad to have any knife at at least 58 hrc... 😂 instead of 52-54 like the days of old, sometimes lower for vintage slipjoints
The livewire is awesome and for the price it can't be beat
No way man, @8:15, 61HRC is plenty for an all purpose knife for sure, you hit the nail on the head! If I wanted 64+ on a knife I was filleting fish with, I wouldn't use an OTF haha. Simple as that, just need a tool to slice paracord/cat5 cable with, open boxes, and if rarely needed - defend myself with. Great review!
Solid review. I just ordered the Dagger version of this in Magnacut. Got it for $199 at Blade HQ. The HRC in the specs says 62-64. I heard Kershaw was doing a better job on their Magnacut knives here lately through Rollshambo's recent video.
Great video with good details! I just bought and received this knife from Blade hq, got the 9000BLK with the black coated spearpoint and black frame, and i love it! I definitely agree, however, with what you said about the hole. It's been collecting fur (pet hair) and smaller particles in it, i have been using tweezers to remove them, and a s.a.k toothpick to clear the fine debris. Other than that, awesome knife and i have no complaints on it really.
Good looking offering from Kershaw ‼️
If you use an edge pro you can sharpen pretty much any knife even the weird ones. Instead of using the flat you have to use the bevel of the blade. Sharpie the edge and eyeball the angle of the stone. Do a light test swipe. Adjust the angle up or down until you have confidence that you’re removing the whole sharpie on the width of the edge. It’s worth mentioning that you should do this process for each stone change as wear and leveling will change the thickness of every stone which makes adjustments between stones a requirement if you want to hit the entirety of the edge with each grit.
I can buy this knife right now damn near brand new for $150!
But the blade sucks like you said that is a terrible shape. But all the knife noobs think anything that looks like a dagger is the way to go for EDC. That's a terrible blade shape for somebody who wants to sharpen in the precision angle sharpener like a wicked EDGE. It's funny how these knives are pushed so hard on CZcams. And they are so lacking!
I think it's pretty good bang for the buck.
I REALLY like that ad20, on my hopefully in this lifetime list of knives to get.
That wide blade and titanium looks amazing.
Happy Holidays!
I have one coming
Good review and overview
I like the look of this. It's subtle, but the size of the handle vs. blade looks a little more normal to me. It is cool to see Kershaw doing new cool stuff in the US. Carried the Baby Machine today. That name just cracks me up! 🤣
I just got one for 184.99 BladeHQ
Very cool! Great video 👍
Love the tanto version of the Livewire. It looks dope! I own zero OTF's but if I had to pick one, it might be that one. Or a bounty hunter finished Microtech. Those look amazing, too. I own a couple of Kershaw's OTS autos and they've been great. Nice to see Kershaw step into the OTF game with affordable, China-subsidized prices 🤣Cheers brother! 🤘
Very nice
Just reground my first OTF today. But I can’t remember the brand. Hard to put good geometry in something so small. But it was fun anyway
Good stuff 👊
I will admit that I am an Auto addict and probably need help but being honest I dont see quitting any time soon . A.A Auto Anonymous
Cypress Creek here in our hometown , usually has these with magnacut for $179 but they don't have a website. That store gets weird prices though. Sone stuff is like half price and some is x2 msrp lol...I think they just guess 😅😂😂
❤
I have the work sharp professional precision adjust and I haven't found a knife yet I can't sharpen. Which one do you have?
I have the first model, the original precision adjust. I can use it to sharpen most knives, but I have to get crafty sometimes. The clamp is the only issue. I have a couple shorts I did that shows some of the "adjustments" I have to make sometimes. But yes, for the most part it will sharpen nearly everything. I like the system. Especially for the money
@@nicholasedwardbehindtheedg2343 yeah the clamp is wider on the pro.
Wish they would dip their toes into good non assisted/ auto knives but it's like they don't want any part of that market and avoid it all costs so much so they took zt out of the game completely for multiple years
