Have the s30v military 2 and it’s great. If you like the pm2 you’ll love the military 2. Great size. Love my police 4 k390 also👍🏻

Tip down is bad on the military. It has stabbed people in the leg. I only carry them in rear pocket or left pocket. I'm not a lefty but no other way to carry tip down without it having large chance of opening in your pocket. I'm glad they made a tip up model, but not happy its a compression lock. Spyderco Taiwan and USA both do good s30v, iirc Taiwan is often a point higher. Benchmade if its not burnt, also has decent s30v. It seems a lot of brands using s30v were leaving a lot of retained austenite and lowering hardness and burning edges when sharpening.

Wish a lot of Reate designers would do better sharpening choils. You did pretty decent job keeping it nice and tidy. Also I prefer the older locks than the newer compression lock on the military. So I dont think its an improvement. But do like the crucarta

Don't really care about washers or bearings. I have a bunch of compression lock models and I'd rather not have them. I prefer the military liner or framelock (yes they made a framelock military) and I wish they made a pm2 framelock.

This micarta is garbage. Replaced the ugly PM2 micarta with AWT aluminum scales. Do better Spyderco.

It is always good to see when companies do a good job on heat treat but I have not had any luck with M390. I’ve had probably 5 different knives and they didn’t impress me. My daily carry is normally k390, Rex45, or aus8 or 10 cause I have a lot of Cold Steel knives. I like to have a good tool steel knife and a regular stainless type to beat on as I cut rope, wire, and thick zip ties at work.

Im teetering on getting the SPY27 version. Ive waited too long for the magnacut native chief.

Around the 3 minute mark you make the statement both knives are very well made, then within about 20 seconds you talk about having to sharpen the Strider because the edge needed it, really? Think about what you just said right there. Also both of those knives are suffering a fatal design flaw. Look how thin the relief cut is for the lock bar. Take those over travel stops off and a toddler could push the lock bar beyond the plane of the bottom part of the lock bar side of the handle. I simply do not get all of these end of the world brick "hard use" folders that have these super thin relief cuts. Its laughable. I've actually had Custom Ti frame locks made without a relief cut, yes it takes a little work to move it over but its a much more solid knife and is truly hard use. They make these like this because people by and large aren't using these knives, they keep them in safes are use them very careful for mundane daily task that could easily be done with a small slip joint and wait for it.....They use them as fidget items are worry stones and sit around flicking them open and closing them countless times a day, as opposed to using them like and as a tool a they are supposed to. You want a worry stone or fidget spinner then go get one, you want to cut something, skin something or slice something get a knife. I will not own a knife that is a flipper or has a relief cut so thin it requires an overstop to prevent to travel. Want to test how strong that relief cut is, while the knife is closed take you finger and press down on the top of the lock bar handle at the point where the opening is made by the tang, that allows for the lock bar to slide over and engage the tang, thereby locking the blade in place. If you can press down and the bottom part of the lock bar touches the top part of the bottom part of the lock bar side of the handle then you relief cut is way to think and your lock bar side of the handle is weak and comprised. Not worth having on a knife, worry stone or fidget items not problem because it makes it super easy to close. Good luck with those

I do like the steel but I feel it doesn't give me and my personal use a whole lot more than a properly done s30v. My pm2 in s30v lasts about 2 weeks and my Stretch 2 or delica in k390 last about the same before I get a ding or roll big enough I gotta go to at least a fine stone rather than a strop. I've thought about trying magnacut for it's supposed toughness and maybe I can go longer between sharpenings. It's a bit easier to sharpen I feel though and it will, like you said, hold that screaming edge longer than just about anything else I own. My Stretch 2 in k390 is probably my favorite spyderco and knife in general though. I've been wanting to get an endura in the k390 and then I'd have a matching set in vg10 and k390 of delica/endura. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't want a larger knife. Also thought about the endela, and to your comment, spyderco made that model because enough people said the delica was a touch too small and the endura was a touch too big so they gave us a medium size option. I've also always wanted a police, but I know I probably wouldn't carry it. The endura is about the max I like to go for a pocket knife. A fully serrated one would be cool to add to the collection just for fun though.

I’ve had one for a long time it’s in my drawer collecting dust. Oh I bought it because when I was a kid I had a gravity knife from the army navy store. I bought this one because it was much better made. The army navy store was always good for military surplus and cheap knives I haven’t even seen one of those stores in 25 years

I really like elmax to it holds an edge good for me , I love mine as a home toy I carry it once in awhile I have the bronzed marble carbon so it’s a fancy talking piece when I’m 💨 in the garage….

I've been using a Police 4 k390 fully serrated and its a beast. K390 IS great steel, and it's actually more corrosion resistant than many think. Dry it off after it gets wet and it will be fine.
