I don't always carry a knife, but when I do, I don't worry about whether it is legal or not
Agreed, it's not whether it legal or not, it's the intent which is more difficult to prove (innocent untill proven guilty)... So the control freaks dictate whats "Legal" and what's not to control/regulate you... Well I will not be be regulated.. land of the free, home of brave... Screwem..
Then move elsewhere. 🤤
What oldschool said!!
I will always ask for forgiveness before I ask for permission 😉
Good for you! 2A covers knives too.
I personally own several otf knives, and so far my microtech is the one giving me the fizz, just an awesome all around knife
I want one! Very impressive! Thanks so much for this!
Try GUARDIAN TACTICAL...They are super smooth.
Superb review as always!
I bought one when they first came out and other than the Deadlock it is the best OTF out there I prefer it even over my Microtechs. If this is where Kershaw is headed they are going in the right direction.
Thanks for the review, partner.
My husband like otf and he is rough on stuff, he has bought a Ravencrest for almost 400 and then at a local shop he bought a Templar that looks just like this Kershaw and it was under 100 and it has out performed the Ravencrest in every way.
After getting my kershaw lucha and loving it tremendously, I want to get thsi
Great value for any OTF with that steel, made in the U.S. no less. If I had a spare $239.00 I’d probably order it today, much less expensive than the Benchmade for sure…
No
doubt!

Got one when they first dropped and it has been great. I use it multiple times a day on a small farm. Hopefully they do another blade style.
Got the blacked out tanto in magnacut
@@chadneuendorf9431
Didn't know about that. Thanks!
Probably gonna be my first OTF.
I have a few micro tech knives and ordered the kershaw 9000 kinda excited see how it turns out
Let's us know how they compare
Power Levels Over 9000!
The show special is closer to the actual price. Great knife !
Good thing Tennessee doesn't have knife laws
This Old Lady wants one 🥰👵🏻
I love my Kershaw 8100 speedsafe.
I would like to see one of these claimed "military/leo" versions that will deploy through something 🤔
There is no "military-only" versions. He was referring to Single Action OTFs. They have a charging handle you pull back on to reset the blade into the handle which actually collapses a long coil spring. That spring is what pushes the blade out of the handle. If done stupidly, you can definitely puncture yourself or objects with it. Hope this helps explaining in more detail.
BBQ Knife is a new POU term for me. I usually carry a thumbhole mini Griptillian or a Benchmade CLA for dressup
What kind of warranty? Life expectancy of the springs?
I grew up a Case pocket knife carrying country boy. But I just may pull the trigger on one of these.
You think the switch is smoother than the ultratech?
Kershaw makes some great knives but to many are no longer made in the USA
Agreed
@@Last_Chance. I wish they would bring back the Kershaw Blackhorse 2 knives
I love the Benchmade one!
Benchmade is overpriced. There knives are good but not for the price. The woke gun destruction at their warehouse and supporting anti gun democrats makes them a had pass for me. I will never forget turning on the news and seeing them cutting guns up. Fuck them!🇺🇸
When they make it with a serrated edge near the handle, I'll buy one !!!
I have had one of these on order since February, still waiting.
Buy one in a private sale and it’ll show up in a week
I have numerous Swiss Army Knives, and a few cheap imitations. Very handy for foraging, backpacking and camping.
Made in the USA and it’s a Kershaw. Take my money!
Wish a good one like this wasn't so expensive
I never heard of military vs. civilian mechanisms, interesting.
My limited experience with otf is they jump track easily, both sa & da.
Saw/checked one out at my local Bi-Mart last week (approx $230). Nice looking, lightweight, quick deploy. Enjoyed the video.
What part of SC are you in? I used to live in Greenville but I live in Abbeville now.
How do you feel like this compares to microtech ultratech? I love the look of that blade! Looks solid. Thanks for all you do for us.
Too early to tell. For me it’ll be based on how well the action holds up. Microtech has made OTF’s for a very long time (since 1994). This is Kershaw’s first stab at it. I can say the action feels similar to a Microtech and the fit and finish is exceptional. Buy both!
Why not show us the front of the knife to see if the blade is centered in the handle, like the Benchmade shootout or off center like microtech?
Make a video on ballistic knife
One of the biggest pet peeves for OTF buyers is "blade play." Wish you had addressed it as well.
It's very vsey minimal. Less than my microtech glycon, which is over 500$. Really impressed with the livewire, it's also smoother than my microtechs.
The livewire is a very good knife by all accounts - my only reservation is I don’t trust Kershaw (or any company that still makes some of their knives in China). I prefer Microtech and the newest knives are loaded with features that make them better than these new entrants. Microtech does have separate collaborations mostly with US companies but are ending one recent collaboration with Rike of China. There’s a difference between temporary collaborations and being committed to a segment of China production. When Kershaw becomes 100% USA made, I will trust them and support them.
Man that's very incredible.. technology 2023 Brother of Jesus I love it❤❤❤🎉
Unfortunately the only legal OTF in Germany has a blade of 4 cm 😖 For edc we have to go for folders made to open with both hands or fixed blades with a blade length up to 12 cm.
I like it, except no clip to hang on the pocket opening
😍😍😍
Areas where things like this are illegal are places where you really need to carry them
😮😮😮like
I still carry the AD10.. love that knife
Mine is magnacut
I'm in Orangeburg Sc, trying to gather enough fiat from the mines to buy a piece of land. 5 acres will be fine but away from others preferably.
Is Mike Diskin related to Matt the knifemaket/ designer?😅
Price?
I got a great made oft knife from mexico for 5 dollars in 1990 and it lasted me 30 years
Afternoon prep family. Warm and sunny in Birmingham today after a Biblical storm yesterday.
Thanks for stopping by Debbie!
I'm a simple man I like knives and guns
I love both and I love the song
They retail for $239
It looks like a nice knife but I have a problem spending almost as much for a knife as I would a gun. I’ll take a gun any day over a knife.
300.00 bucks wow
It looks like some of the Benchmade and others since it's the first one doesn't matter how crappie or good it will end up in the thousands if you want a good investment. I'll buy one put it away for ten years and sell it for a profit.
Yea, I dont care if its legal or not lol. Ill buy one in a bit.
It's a manly pocket fidget cutter. I'd be driving my girlfriend crazy with it, (Click, click, Click, click, Click, click) watching TV, eating breakfast, sitting on the toilet.
Lol
How much do they cost?
Combat Troodon
Wish they had put a glass breaker on it.
The Knife is nice. But not in every County of US allowed.
It is worth noting that "assisted-opening" side action knives are faster, vastly cheaper, and legal almost everywhere in any sizes. The Chinese make ALL of them, and most are very good!..........................elsullo
They don’t make all of them. Plenty of brands makes fully American assisted opening knives. Kershaw alone makes the following: Dividend, Leek, Blur, Knockout, Link.
Love Kershaws but not at that price. I’ll stick with my kershaw flipper.
Its $300 now and thats with a discount 😢
Isn’t it OTF?
Oops! Thanks Steve
Sucker for a (k)nice knife.
This is a beauty : )
We are not allowed these in the UK
$304.00 is a steep price for a pocket knife.
$214
240 for kershaw 😂
Your otf d-railing isn't a Safety feature and the military or whatever you're talking about don't get special models that don't. A single action otf would be better suited for what you're talking about but there's not a lot of them being made.
A few years back, Texas got rid of all the legal restrictions on carrying a knife. Smart choice. A reporter asked the Governor what he thought. He said heck, carry a sword if you want. Just don't be criminal. Good advice. Same for permit less carry. Don't be a criminal. I have a 5 inch fixed blade small friend made knife I carry on my belt in a horizontal sheath. That makes moving around easier. I made the sheath because nobody seems to make anything like that. I work with that knife and it is a defensive tool as well. It is extremely hard steel, I do not know what type / number etc. Holds and edge well. A fixed blade stays ready to use. Located on the body where you can get at it in a grappling situation is important. I am not looking for that but better to be ready than not. Same for carrying a handgun every day. A knife you like is essential to everyday carry. If I have pants on, I have a knife and a gun on me at all times. I live rural in south Tx in the brush country. Way away from civilization. You really are your own first responder in this environment.
nice but way out of my price range
rofl 300$. i get them for 20-40$
I bought a S&W otf knife for $50. once years ago. It was a fun knife. Loved clicking it open and closed. Took it apart, polished the surfaces and made the spring a little stronger. Loved it. Then one day I left it in the cup holder of my van and when I went to get it the mechanism triggered on the edge of the cup holder and shot the blade deep into my palm. I gave it back to the guy I got it from. I don't know if you have ever had a deep cut in your palm but it took weeks to heal. Every time you moved it it would start bleeding. I probably should have gotten stitches but being a man I used butterfly bandages in an attempt to hold the cut together and eventually I healed it with superglue by gluing the wound shut. It would hold for a couple of days.
I won't buy another one. Lol. I will stick to out the side assisted opening knives.
@@fauxque5057 lol thats why i carry 20% benzocaine and vicryl stiches in my car's med kit. strongest otc numbing stuff you can get is ora-gel meant for numbing teeth.
You said you would go in depth on that dohickey. Ya didn't. Ya just kep a flikinit.
You did no tests... No cutting or hard stabbing or throwing.
forbidden in germany...
Jesus. That's what's so bad about even legal immigration. They all come from places that don't have a Constitution. So they don't respect it or care about it. Then they proceed to vote the same way they did in their country. Essentially trying to turn our country into theirs 2.0.
Too expensive 😏
thought the same
Minnesota outlaws all automatics, lame!
Dress up knife??? Hell no use it for what it’s for it’s a tool!
DO NOT BUY A CHINESE DOUBLE-ACTION OUT THE FRONT KNIFE! They are cheap, look good, and fire a few times and DIE! If you open it to see what is wrong small clumps of metal fall out with no clue where they came from. I have bought four of them of different brands, found them completely dry of oil inside, and did manage to fix them extended to have a nice heavy letter opener! One was even assembled with one of the long frame screws used where a short grip screw was supposed to be---the long one RUBBING ON THE BLADE! Even putting the correct screws in, there was no fixing it. You get what you pay for............................elsullo
Dunk them in water and see what happens 😉
Um, those are also called SWITCH BLADES and are ILLEGAL in many parts of the country.
They are also not illegal in many parts of the country
@@Josh-th7tm um, my post was a WARNING to ppl to avoid criminal charges. What was the point of yours?
@VAMobMember highlighting how arbitrary yours was. Like..there are many things that fall under the generic moniker of "switchblade" (which is one word btw). Not just OTFs...stiletto automatics, leverlettos, hidden release automatic knives, etc. heck..even balisongs and gravity knives are incorporated into the federal switchblade laws.
People are capable of determining if something is legal in their area and whether they even care or not. No reason for you to yell about it on a review.
