Did they upgrade transmission? A 200-4r needs to be seriously beefed up to handle any more power.

That is a 1987 Buick Regal Limited Turbo. The name T-type stopped being used in 1986, and Technically a Turbo T is all black with grey interior WE4 package. Everything else would be just a Turbo regal with T package, but the name Turbo T kind of got placed on all 87 Turbo Buicks.

Glad to see that someone else knows the difference in the Regal with turbo and the Turbo-T WE4. BUT...Actually that is NOT a 1987 Buick Regal LIMITED Turbo. It is a 1987 Buick Regal with Turbo package LC2 (which required the Y56 T-package), with the W02 sport appearance package. I agree with your other statements, Tracey. (See SPID label at 4:41) The Turbo LIMITED would have the VIN start with 1G4GM117; That one starts with 1G4GJ117. That car has the 60/40 AM6 seats, requiring the column shifter. The Base Regal has the pull straps on the door handles; Limited Regal have handles. The dash pad would have Regal Limited; this has REGAL. Interior seat trim code has 79B; Limited would have 79D. Early production VIN 409220.

It’s got an awesome motor. There’s no doubt about that but I don’t know any T type. That has on the steering wheel shifter come on now it’s a Buick regal with a T type hood, and a GNX motor. Someone did an awful lot of work on that car, and still left the shifter on the column.

You're wrong. They also came column shift

After 86 Buick dropped the “T-type” and in 87 came out with the “turbo-T” they had the floor shifter and column shifter packages amongst many other trim packages, I’ve got one similar to this sitting in my drive way right now same interior and exterior colors 🤘🏼

d.i.g1160, That car WAS is a FACTORY 1987 Regal With Turbo (LC2) with the required T-package (Y56) with the sport appearance package (W02) Look at the trunk label at 4:41, and translate the codes... The car could easily come with even a more basic full bench seat (A65). The bucket seats were an option on the turbo cars all along. Certain SPECIFIC trim packages (Grand National WE2, and Turbo T WE4) did require specific bucket seats...
