      No. Look up the documentary on youtube entitled: "BLACK AIR - THE BUICK GRAND NATIONAL", and learn about the entire car including the drivetrain and how remarkable it was for it's time. Bone stock, the GN could outrun a twin turbo Callaway Corvette. That documentary shows the official test-footage where a GN not only beat a twin turbo Callaway Corvette in the 1/4 mile during 3 back to back passes, it gapped the living sh*t out of it, especially during the 3rd race, where the driver of the GN even had his wife AND daughter in the back seat. There were no passengers in the Callaway Vette. We're talking a gap over 3 school buses. The GNX had a special ladder bar for traction too. All of this & more can be seen in that documentary. A manual transmission would only slow this car down dramatically. The whole concept of this car was to deliver the quickest launch possible. The result: Bone stock, aside from the top Ferrari of the era, the GN and GNX was the quickest car on the planet, no joke. So why would anyone want to ruin that with a manual transmission. ( I do love a 4-speed manual in V-8 classic muscle. )

      @@wescoupland3985 That's ok. Yeah, check out that documentary, I think you'll really enjoy it, like so many of us have. I thought it was amazing myself. Back in 1990, I had a co-worker who owned a GNX. Car-pooled with him during a job we had way out of town. Man, that thing was a beast, and it was bone stock. The GNX was only made during the last year of production for the GN: 1987. It was the quickest of all the GN's. Take care.

      @@howabouthetruth2157 1054 I graduated the year these came out believe me there were plenty on the road here in Kansas City even some kids driving them believe it or not that their parents paid for there's a house not too far from mine where in his garage he had a GNX and a 1970 GSX Parked side by side both monsters
