- As a fixed point in time, Geras can see everything in the past and the future, which is why many characters ask him about what is going to happen to them in the future or if they want to know something that happened in the past. For some Geras answers, but for others he does not. He explains why in his dialogues.

His answer is actually a very wise one, most relationships fail when there’s obstacles that either person, or both, aren’t willing to work through so he’s basically saying if your relationship will survive the obstacles that will arise only then will it be secure, if you can’t or are unwilling then it’s not secure

Geras is right not to tell anyone their futures, because it can change at anytime, depending on one’s actions and motives.
You are and always will be the sum of your choices. Knowing the future can either change it horribly or lock you into it. It's too dangerous to know and better that you simply make the right choice when the time comes.
Though if it prevents bigger mistakes, it might be worst the risks
@@Tuturial464 This assumes that it would indeed prevent a more significant mistake. Remember, Geras can see all of the time, both the current Timeline and the past ones. The man is, for all intents and purposes, all-seeing, so if he refuses to not tell the future, best assume that it is a good idea.

Geras was the mvp of the story. Found out about Shang tsung running amok, pinpointed the culprit who taught Shang tsung magic and discovered there’s more than one timeline and was entrusted the power of the keeper of time according to Liu kangs ending. Geras is a G in this game.
well, to be honest, its his job.
Best part is even Liu Kang recognizes it. He said he would make Geras his successor.

I love how some of Geras’ answers to these are so vague that they’re pretty much non-answers. My favorite is “it will last until it is over.”

Love that line, that little playful banter is the perfect example as to why Liu Kang was the best decision to make Earthrealm's protector in this new story, he's basically your friendly neighbor who just so happened to be bestowed the power of the Hourglass. He treats people no differently and wants peace and redemption for everybody, even the villains. He lets mortals choose their own way and/or gives them a role perfectly based for them. (For example, Geras guarding the hourglass and Shang Tsung's life of lowly crime). By doing that alone mostly every one of the characters choose good and live peaceful lives, even Baraka and Reptile are not evil, but rather are collateral damage from the villain's antics. Liu Kang only interferes when absolutely necessary and uses his heart just as much as his mind when he makes decisions.
I love how Reiko immediately contradicts Geras in their back to back dialogues 😂

Messing with time, obsessing over the past, and wanting to know the future, are all very dangerous things. Liu Kang and Geras are right to withhold information because such things are too dangerous. Destiny is decided and changed ultimately by your choices, as that is the sum of who you are.
Let's hope that our characters can actually live happy lives for once.
right I mean look at raiden when he always tries to depend on time mk 9 and look where that got him. so I can understand why they cant give info easily lol

Respectfully, I disagree. This is Mortal Kombat. It thrives in conflict and strife. Happy endings are for fairy tales. We need betrayal, chaos, warfare, grabs for power and endless fighting. That is what this series is known for and what it needs to survive. A happy life should be temporary only, because to give one to a character permanently is tha same as killing them in this game

@@0axis771 I would rather have reboots of the timeline that allow me to beat the living snot out of other characters than have to endure the drivel of peacemaking and happy endings. That's just not what I play this series for. If you don't give me bloodshed and bad guys to fight, then why would I want to play a game called Mortal Kombat? If I wanted peace and happy times, I would play Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley. I play this so I can beat the tar out of characters with cool special moves.
Whatever form the story needs to take to make that happen, I'm down with it. Just as long as it's not constant mewling about peace and happiness. That's like the one thing this franchise doesn't need. Or at least, not too much. Save that stuff for the character's non-canon tower endings. Canonically, I want characters to have reasons to hate each other and beat the fuck out of one another.

Also Liu Kang and Geras: Shao Kahn grows up WEAK and WORKS FOR SINDEL until he's FIRED and IMPRISONED, and will NEVER sit on Outworld's throne
I love how Liu Kang is taking steps to make sure MK11: Aftermath or Armageddon never happens again.

How does Tanya's question or Geras withholding the info from Scorpion about his father's death something that aligns with Lord lui Kangs goals?
@@andrewbell6561Knowing the wrong thing at the wrong time could spoil all of Liu Kang's hard work.
Remember that Liu Kang has designed the complete chart of history, from the beginning to it's end, and for everything to play out the way he wants to, he has to make sure the domino effect he created at the start of history isn't disturbed.
Imagine what would happen if the Romans knew about the Trojan Horse from the beginning, or if Ukraine knew Russia will one day betray them, ect

if geras knows that kuai would act peacefully and would remain calm, hed tell, because kuai can handle the information mentally and would plan out other things rather than seeking revenge just like mk9 hanzo at the mktournament
I like how just about everyone gets a vague answer except for Reptile who wasn’t even asking for himself but his girlfriend (a move I think Liu Kang respected), and Ashrah who straight up is told “I fully intend for you to be redeemed”. I feel like this means they’ll be incredibly important in the next sequel
I hope so. As much as I like her, Ashra did feel a tiny bit tacked on, the way she appears randomly and conveniently for the story to progress :D
The fact that both Ashrah and Reptile were nowhere to be found in the story mode's last act is probably my lone issue with how it unfolded.

I love how, even though they “redid the timeline” they still kept the better parts or what could have been the best parts of everyone’s relationship
Geras knows everything from every previous timeline, so it is not just that Liu Kang changed him to obey him, he willingly accepts that Liu is a better titan than Kronika, and helping him is the right choice.
Even the writers admit evil Sindel sucked 😂
I suppose that’s a good thing they recognized that; I really wasn’t into Sindel’s betrayal & it just made Aftermath’s story even more pointless. After all, why would Sindel try to have a change of heart when she was already revived? Furthermore, why would Sindel try to have a change of heart when she was already EVIL from the moment Quan Chi resurrected her in MK9? Even moreso after she got back with Shao Kahn, mind you! And to pile on the confusion, she says she killed Jerrod when it was actually Shao Kahn who did it, so they fucked up their already-established story.

@@AlastorAltruistGamingi was indifferent to it because i don't care about sindel but her being evil makes her being able to overpower the entire roster 3 times now (with 2 of those times involving the guy who beat shao khan and one of those times said guy achieved godhood.) but not being able to do anything at all besides suicide against shao kahn actually make sense.
It does seem like MK9, MKX, and MK11 are different timelines.
At least they actually had the decency to admit it instead of trying to taboo it like lots of other video game companies when they make stupid retcons and plot holes.
Besides Liu Kang, Geras is one character who I mostly focus on in the interaction with others. Having knowledge of past versions of the cast (with some even questioning him on what they were once like), it gives off lore vibes to focus on.
Give Geras a scythe and you could easily convince me this guy is Zasalamel from Soul Calibur

I like how both the other characters sound increasingly annoyed that he won't give them better answers, and Geras sounds increasingly annoyed that they keep asking.

it’s so exciting to hear about Sonya and Jade being teased as Johnny and Kitana’s spoilers, and the setup with Onaga makes it obvious they have a clear plan for the future
I like how out of most of the Questions Asked, they couldn't give genuine answer. Yet Raiden asked a simple one. "Was this timeline better than the last" Which Geras confirmed it is.
It’s crazy how the characters know they’re in a new timeline. Shows how humble the new god is.

I am now very curious what will happen with Jade and Kitana in this timeline. Tanya was warned to make sure she protect Mileena and Kitana. Kitana meeting Jade seems to an important event mentioned by both Geras and Lui Kang.

3:30 part of me feels like Liu Kang’s response wasn’t in the script.
At 3:19 Sindel asked Geras if there were Keepers of Time before Kronika, and I found his answer to be very interesting. Geras stated there was one before her, meaning two things
1. Kronika is an artifical titan. In my opinion, artificial titans are those who obtain the power of a titan from a original titan. It's possible that the power of an original titan will decrease every time its transferred, which imo, sounds really cool.
2. Kronika had a partner who she erased. It's been stated by Liu Kang when he beat Kronika before the whole aftermath story that he couldn't shape the sands alone. In past timelines, Kronika use Cetrion and Evil Geras to help her shape time, and Liu Kang would have used Raiden's or Kitana's help in the main story, before aftermath came and Fujin, Shang Tsung, and Nightwolf appeared to stop them bc they didn't have crown of souls. And even after aftermath, when Liu Kang defeats Shang Tsung and restarts history, he uses Good Geras' help. So, its possible Kronika had a partner who she betrayed, took his power, then erased by restarting history after she learned how to wield the sands properly, resulting in her trying to get her "golden balance of good and evil."
I can honestly see both of those being truths, the way I see it is, that there was the First Titan that we don't know a whole lot of other then what Geras tells, Having made Kronika, they worked on the hourglass and the Titan teaching Kronika how to wield the power, the more she would learn how it works, the more her obsession of her "Golden Balance of Good and Evil: Starts to arise, maybe the Titan tried to warn her about having a strict rule or the effects of restarting it over and over but her obsession was too much and used the hourglass, because if what i'm thinking is true Kronika had made Geras originally to help her and the First Titan out with the hourglass but after she erased the Titan she had Geras take his place before she had Centrion and Shinnok, and while she would restart time over and over again, Geras would just watch until the event's of MK11 and MK Aftermath when either Liu Kang took control.

I'm intrigued the who held the hourglass before Kronica did perhaps another titan or Onaga in this new timeline. Seems like its setting up a new more powerful villian in the future

I think, "there was only one" was referring to Kronika herself.
It was probably Onaga as it seems even Liu Kang lacked the power to exclude him from the new timeline, as did Kronika. That would explain why Kronika likely sent Raiden's message in MK9 back along with visions of his future through his amulet in order to prevent Armageddon without needing to reset the timeline completely. That choice may be why Kronika didn't just reset again after Shinnok died so easily in MKX.
Or it could be a nod to Ed Boon.

I find kinda cute how most character ask questions about their own past/future, then there is Syleth/Reptile who asks if his new love would find peace he is such a wholesome fella.

Knowing how awful the prior timelines were with their previous lives. It's honestly a blessing that they don't know what possible fates befall them in the future. Raiden, Sindel, etc. becoming Evil, Countless painful deaths, torn relationships, entire worlds destroyed. This timeline is infinitely more wholesome and good compared to the absolute hell in Liu Kang's previous timeline

Those aren't "prior timelines". Those are current ones that came into existence after mk11. Prior timelines refer to every timeline kronika made

Tarkatans are a mixture of both humans and demons. Only baraka was naturally born so the only person who's not natural is well Mileena.

There are so many possibilities it is insane.
