I use the Quest 3 for mainly Microsoft Flight Simulator and last weekend I was flying around Norway. It didnt matter where I looked I couldnt see the reality of my life, what an incredible escape!!!!! Also I remember my grandparents having one of those old stereoscope photoviewers. As kids we looked at those images in awe. How brilliant they were. By the way I am 69 years old so dont forget the older generation in vr (we are the one's with money lol). Keep up the great work mate👍
I always like to see people even older than me (I'm 66) in VR. We had to wait so many years to get this far, right? Younger people can't imagine that...
i think VR is ageless unlike console or flat pc games. i think VR's biggest power is that players who are aging out of gaming can continue to game once you have aged out of gaming, VR allows you to continue gaming in VR and be a kid all over again. ❤🎉❤🎉

Actually I think the Batman thing is funny 😆 I actually can't blame Meta for actually making people buy the Quest 3 to get access to it. They probably actually sell the device at a loss, compared to what it took to actually make it. Actually actually actually.
Yeah. John Carmack claims they sell the devices right at cost but he also left Meta a few years ago so that could be outdated info. I don't run into them much anymore but it used to be that so many flat gamers HATED VR like it was a threat to their experience or something. Idk why
Flat gamers are spoiler for choice. It feels like a kid with tousants of toys complaning that they don't have a specific toy, that a neibhors kid has.

ok but also we need to be pushing the technology ahead, i feel like VR is one of those things that can stagnate easily because people are waiting for it to have modern console graphics, i owned the quest one, and now own the quest three. eventually my quest three will become obsolete its simply the price we pay for wanting the best possible experience before we all get old and die
@@hex6206 vr started out with great graphics from pc, the quest reverted vr however with micro GPU, CPU it may be the future.

Immersed is pulling off 5 displays because it’s using 1 external display at maximum supported resolution, then splitting it up into 4 windows, and cropping each as a simulated display. But I don’t like how expensive Immersed ends up being, so I’ll stick to Virtual Desktop. Not to mention, if VD develops for the AVP, they’re going to be the main way to play VR games.
If they make a quest pro 2 with those lens features, I know it will be hella expensive, but I’d buy it 🤣

Hey Jay - thanks for highlighting Virtual Stereoscope! It was new to me (newer overall), and I've been collecting Stereoview cards for 15+years. I got it, and it does a good job of showing the stereo cards. Running them through the cleanup routines to improve them is a cool feat as well. The dev also had several cards that I hadn't seen, so that was cool as well.

@@jnewgot Yeah not what I imagined my self doing when I bought my first CV1 in 2017. VR has been all about the social experience and very little about playing games.

also thank you for all your high quality content!! i've been loving it the last few months. i got surprised with a quest 2, but then found out about the quest 3 lite's possible announcement in June soooo after figuring out the quest 2 wouldn't be worth it for very much longer im holding on for the lite and returning the quest 2. also after testing out a quest 3 an just the glass and color pass through alone would be worth waiting a few more months for the lite verison.
Thank you!! Yeah the lite launch is a bit of a mystery still. I figure the latest they could launch is October but it seemed like it would be sooner with the way news kept coming out around it.
@@jaybratt Yeah! Even if it isn’t till winter I think it’s worth waiting for. For me I don’t upgrade my tech very often so I’d rather have the newest version later than the 5 year older version now and use that for 2-3 years before I upgrade 😅

The problem with high Res and high fov is high requirements which is why I was really hoping the Q3 was going to have eye tracking....still amazing value for money considering what I paid for my first set up ( Pimax + lighthouses)
I wonder if Apple's dual layer OLEDs (like in the new iPad) will find their way into newer headsets. This would help greatly with brightness in VR.

Use the stock one for a while and see how it feels to you.
The stock strap and facial interface are comfortable for me, but I had to change the strap to BoboVR because of the battery backup. I still use the stock facial interface.
If you go for a 3rd party head strap, the BoboVR S3 is all you need.

When you upgrade to quest 3 do your quest 2 games that had already had quest 3 upgrade upgrade automatically when transferred to quest 3

That's awesome! I remember discovering a world in it once that was GORGEOUS, had a futuristic feel but with underwater jets you could use to see the fish and whales. SUPER Relaxing music too! It was great!

I use it with the amvr interface and they are great together. Of course that's the kind of strap I prefer. Some prefer the halo style.

The small FOV is my biggest gripe with VR. I blame Sci Fi shows/movies for giving me false expectations on what VR would be. I was so disappointed when I got my CV1. When they can get to at least 3/4 of what a Human eye FOV is then I'll be very happy.
Agreed. It was especially disappointing that cv1 was an ok 110 fov then the fov went way down. I'm glad with the quest 3 it's back to 110. Going forward it will go up not down.

5:24 This ahas happened before and I don't think the VR Medal of honor game got that backlash because of a few things... it was rarely not exclusive to something and it always chased the latest trends. But yeah I don't think VR games need to be exclusive to quest 3/ quest at all any more then flat games do and I do feel that some VR games need a flat mode like most Flat games need a VR mode...

Personally I'm disappointed with the new Batman VR game purely because it's Quest only. Yeah I went ahead and got a Quest 3, but I've never been an advocate for exclusivity in any platform (Initial reason why I didn't want to support Meta) and this could've been a great multi-plat game. In fact, since much of the audience for the Arkham games are on PC, having it exclusive to the quest just seems like a bad idea and will kneecap it right out of the gate. VR doesn't need "console sellers" right now. It needs games exactly like this one that have wide appeal and will bring more folks into the overarching community.
And well, it's gotta be stated - PCVR games simply have a higher ceiling for graphical fidelity. The Arkham series is well known for this, and I'm not sure if Quest 3 can be at that level.

I have a very hard time believing that 1/4 kids plays in VR because of the cost and availability unless you are ONLY surveying kids in wealthy households.

As for the AVP, In Canada it will cost $4765 and that is pre tax (add 10 to 15%)... That's insane (and I have Macs, iPhone and multiple iPads ... so not a mac hater).
Sorry, it's not right to support VR games being exclusive. Those of us that have gaming desktops want to use the quest 3 with them. It's a waste for a game to only use the headset alone.

Quest 3 is decent but it still has a way to go. A few more iterations with the experiences to match will surely make it mainstream. Another 10yrs? 20? Surely by 2054?

@@jaybratt hi Jay, i went back to an old comment to discuss this, At the end of your videos you do a cool little push off transition with your finger "swipe up" which is cool like on a phone. But lately you are slaping to the side and that just seems less cool like a face slap. its kinda funny but the finger push dosnt affect me and i imagine others but the slap is like an insult if you could stick to the old cool finger push its like a power button swipe up. anyway i will delete this comment once you reply or you delete it so i know u got it. thanks. :)
