- This was way more fun to do than I expected.
I know this is a bit different to what I normally post, but alas, I'm not traveling right now, and also, I'm a big film buff so...this is what I ended up with.
00:02 Christopher Nolan
00:21 Stanley Kubrick
00:35 Edgar Wright
00:52 Quentin Tarantino
01:21 Denis Villeneuve
01:44 Wes Anderson
02:10 Terrence Malick
02:30 David Lynch
02:43 Taika Waititi
03:14 (Not) Ari Aster
Notes:
I wanted to do a moving shot / different shots for Kubrick but I was shooting this myself so I was a little limited. Also, I know these aren't perfect emulations but I was just observing & researching the best I could. Also, the hardest one of these to do was Taika, despite the fact that I quite literally grew up near where he did. All I could figure was to put something random in. Tarantino dialogue also ruined because I was trying not to laugh. Alrighty, that's all.

about me:
Hi, my name's Éowyn. I'm a filmmaker, editor & photographer from New Zealand.
In 2022 I solo traveled around France & Italy for three months, and spent a few months living out of a van in the South Island of New Zealand. Join me for some fun discussions / films around travel, introspection and I suppose what they call 'coming of age' (at any age). I hope you'll find some information or inspiration in them that is useful to you!
Thank you for being here :)

I knew what was coming with Quentin Tarantino, but it still made me laugh.
David Lynch..am still laughing! This was really good!!!
I have no idea why CZcams decided that this needed to be in my recommended videos, but this was well done! I was waiting for Ari Aster, oh well 🤣
Thank you! Maybe another video...could add in some female directors and Ari !! :)
There are some similar videos and I've seen Aster done at least once.
Neither but here I am world
the Denis Villeneuve one requires a slow, contemplative pan of some kind
ahah true!
...and a drone
Edgar wright was pretty spot on, even down to what a character would do in his movies
i was trying to convey that as well haha
This was frigging hilarious. Cracked me up like a tin can. I could keep it in until Terence Malick hit the silver screen.
Two easy ones that could've been added: Ridley Scott with the ceiling fan and the light through the blinds, and James Cameron with the blue filter.
Bahaha very true
Yea, James Cameron it’s definitely blue filter 😅
The Kubrick psycho eyes were perfectly done - I saw Jack Nicholson and Malcolm McDowell, at the same time, in that young lady's face. Good job!
Thank you!
Love the Tarantino one! Good job
😭
Kudos to the actress for putting up with this.
that's me lol!
Now do Michael Haneke where it’s just a 10 minute static shot of a women drinking water.
So now I want to rewatch all of Tarantino's films. Thanks, i guess
The Terrance Malick one got me with that ponderous stare into the heavens
about right eh
Taika Waititi’s! 😂😂😂
felt very taika haha
She confused Lynch with the Safdies for some reason
Michael Bay! The power shot from below, the color saturation, and the majestic slow motion. That woulda been hilarious as you sat and drank some water. 😂
Hmm interesting!
This is so cool and innovative but i feel betrayed with the lynch one 😅, it would've been more lynchian if you added an ambient creepy sound and and used one point perspective in a wide engle , and a little smoke in the background, we need part 2 but try to make it more challenging ❤, wish you all the best 💪
Really cool concept and realization!
thank you!
Quentin Tarantino one made me laugh pretty hard, good on you
thanks!
Wes Anderson symmetry spot on xD
thanks!
This is so good
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed :)
This is pretty good
You have some interesting skills. Good job. A very good one.
😂 Thanks for this video!! But now... i need to pee
loved the malick style
Taiki Waititi's would have Taika Watititi in it
yea have him a call, he couldn’t make it unfortunately
Nice work.
I liked you version. The spinning camera was a nice touch. It shows how uneasy the charecter is
Thank you!
Very good job!
Thank you!
great idea for video
Glad you liked it :)
Wow, Good video!
I love the fact that I stumbled upon this video. Thank you, youtube algorithm. I was just watching exerbia videos.
no water were harmed during filming this vide
hahaha
The feet lmaooo
Tarantino man
love this haha!
Thanks!
More please!!!
Just miss the Fincher ✌️
Taika Waititi could have a static picture of a steaming dump
“Life staining”?
This is absolutely fabulous, it was so spot on!
Thank you! :)
Scott Snyder. Slo-mo. Every motion looking as cool as it possibly can. Heavy color saturation.
What's the music that plays during the Terence Malick segment?
czcams.com/video/S-Xm7s9eGxU/video.html
Erik Satie's Gymnopedie no.3
very well done lol
Thank you!
No Scorsese? Massive camera tracking shot through the house as she enters and then close up of her stirring the drink with a spoon
haha maybe a part 3!
Great 💯💯
I also display a litany of my own baby photos… I was a cute kid damnit!
These are awesome. Tarantino one was my favorite
Thank you!
Fun video! But Nolan would’ve had like a million more cuts in that short timespan lol
True!! I had a few more shots but they were with the gimbal and didn’t look the best so I decided to leave them out
@@eowynaldridge you did great
How many takes did you do for the Kubrick scene?
only three, I know. Should have done at least 100
what's the nolan one? the fact that the shot lasts for more than 4 seconds is already wrong hehe
I would debate that following has some quite long shots
Do Georges Méliès next!
Очень здорово получилось👏
Thank you
zack snyder would have been fun :D
might have a part 3 to do I guess 🤷♀️
I need drink water
mood
☺👍
Love it !!!!!🫢Probably all of them except the lighting it was to flat !! I would like to see it more like with artistic touch !!!!!,🔴🤫🫢
thank you! was new to shooting s-log at the time lol
@@eowynaldridge awesome!!,🔴🫢🤫
kubrick was perfect
haha thanks!
How much for your dirty socks?
Wow, somehow you made it even MORE boring every time
Can we see some of your creative work to compare it to
thanks! so many great films are considered boring by the majority of the public so good to know your taste is very poor
@eowynaldridge nah I was only trolling bro. I try to always post one constructive comment for every troll comment I put. Honestly I thought it was cool the way you showed how much drama you can get out of a simple scene with good direction. Like how sometimes a scene will be one line in the script and be ten minutes on screen or sum.
@eowynaldridge my only complaint is the first section is not actually in the style of Christopher Nolan, it's just a basic starter version of the scene. Putting Nolan's name on the front of it just makes it look like you haven't done your research on Nolan's style. Nolan always uses an over the shoulder tracking shot when a character enters a new environment in order to root the audience in their perspective. And in terms of her just sitting there in a long take, nah, going by like his every movie since at least Dark Knight, the cutting would be mad fast, like there are no long takes in a Christopher Nolan movie. So basically what you and the other guy said to me I'll say right back: If you're going to criticize somebody, do it intelligently. Actually learn what their style is and then parody it.
@@eowynaldridge and even though it was boring in the sense of being repetitive it still held my attention until the end which is rare with most CZcams so that's saying something
