I had a very heated discussion with someone on this very subject from the Old Testament. They wouldn’t at all discuss the New Testament and I told them revelation of the Trinity is present throughout the Old Testament. Went from Genesis through Deuteronomy in key passages. They still wanted to nit pick context and words and only would read from KJV. They denied Christ as God, but only want the King James like it was the only inspired translation. So it was an uphill discussion which left me frustrated and confused as to what this person wanted to learn. Then we got into a discussion of sin and sacrificial law, which they really had no answer for. They insisted on strict obedience with no need for faith and tried to use that as an argument. I showed them Abraham believed God and it being accounted as righteousness before he ever received the command for circumcision or demonstrated obedience. It was super frustrating and lasted for hours. He militated against the New Testament, said things were added or taken away, and demonized Christ saying he is the bright morning star in Revelation. He said that Christ equated himself to Satan identified as son of the morning in Isaiah. It felt fruitless. However during the talk about strict obedience to the law I asked what sacrifice he offered for atonement for his sins every year. He said none and asked what sacrifice I offered. I told him Jesus was my sacrifice, taking on the punishment I was due for my sins, and considering me righteous by my faith in his completed atonement, just as Abraham was considered righteous by his faith. He pretty much shut me down and argued against John’s testimony of Jesus in John 1 as the word, light, and says it doesn’t specifically say that is Jesus in those passages. I told him it was a testimony of Jesus as God, the second person of the Trinity, intimately involved in creation.

What an incredible sermon!! My husband and I have been so incredibly blessed by Dr. James White! God brought us out of the oneness heresy and into His glorious truth as we saw debates where James White was speaking! Now, I’m just trying to learn as much as I can so I can defend the doctrine of the Trinity. God bless him, Pastor Durbin, and this church!

It was such a joy to join in fellowship with you all that day. My wife and I were on our honeymoon to Arizona/Utah that day from Indiana and were so glad and refreshed to worship and hear this message. We are actually moving to the Phoenix area in January and cannot potentially wait for more!

Why do people make silly arguments like, "How can God die?". It shows an incredible lack of understanding about what Christians actually believe about Jesus, the Triune God, and death. If you criticize belief in the Lord Jesus by asking how God can die, then please take a day and learn what Christian's actually believe. I'll give you some hints: hypostatic union, uniqueness of Yahweh - being versus personhood, final judgement and the eternal state.

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."
