    I wonder how Okafor's hands measure in comparison to current NBA centers like Duncan. It's definitely an advantage to be able to wrap your hand around a basketball like it's nerf ball.

    so ummm, why is this guy constantly blasted for his defense? i understand this is a highlight compilation, but there isn't anyone on earth who will play perfect defense with maximum effort all the time either. what this video shows me is he has good defensive principles and good lateral movement when he is engaged. he keeps his arms straight up and contests shots without getting in trouble. not every center will fly in the air and block 4 shots a game. in fact, a lot of the shot blockers also have poor discipline on defense. okafor will be just fine. he has lost weight already too, so he should be even lighter on his feet.

    • @jackjelf07
      @jackjelf07 Před 9 lety

      Mark De Pedro ndeed. People act like when his team misses a shot and the other team grabs the board, he just stands under the other teams basket while his team runs back on defense. He's going to be okay.

    • @skillz78
      @skillz78 Před 9 lety +2

      Mark De Pedro I feel he can be as good as Marc Gasol defensively. People cant limit his potential on D. He has a great work ethic.

    • @LaileB22
      @LaileB22 Před 9 lety

      Mark De Pedro I think it was just because coach K pulled him for his lackluster D? I think he will be fine.

  • @markd1598
    @markd1598 Před 9 lety +4

    any improvements jahlil makes on defense will just be the icing on the cake anyway. this guy already has otherworldly post moves, footwork, and touch on his hook shots, layups, and short-range jumpers. i mean, people are nitpicking him for little things like effort on defense and not having an 18 foot jumper. if those are his biggest problems, sign me up for jahlil okafor! how many centers come in and they have NO post moves, AWFUL footwork... we're talking zero skill? lol... and people just wanna bag on okafor because he is a top dog. come on mayn!

    • @BellinghamJude
      @BellinghamJude Před 9 lety

      They were picked earlier cause they have immense potential. Okafor has the best post play we've seen in YEARS, but that's the only thing he has to his game other than size and big hands. Karl-Anthony Towns may have 0 post play, but he can shoot and defend while also being more athletic. These things are hard to teach compared to post-play. I know some top picks have failed and flopped cause they can't develop their early immense potential into fruition, but don't put Okafor above these guys just cause he has advanced post-play.

    Minnesota had an AL Davis moment. They went with athletic ability over skill. Okafor should have been the number one pick. This guy already has the Dream shake wow. He will get better on the defensive end with better conditioning.

    • @4472ify
      @4472ify Před 8 lety

      that depends on how bad philly wants him out , it would have to be a future pick unfortunatly as their main assests are what they need , Bosotn will make a run as pick 3 is unless they want Bender is useless to them .

      @BellinghamJude Před 9 lety

      +Patrick Charles They have Roy Hibbert and Julius Randle. As much as I like Okafor, he's not gonna fit into the Starting 5. They needed a PG and they drafted D'Angelo Russell.
      You would say they would have drafted Jahlil and not trade for Roy Hibbert, but they needed a real experienced big-men cause they're trying to contend once again for Kobe. An Okafor-Randle combo has 0 NBA experience, much say playoffs.

    • @BellinghamJude
      @BellinghamJude Před 8 lety

      Jesus-is LORD All I'm saying was, on paper, the Lakers needed a PG and that's why they took D'Angelo. You must be a newbie if you don't know that there's 2 ways a team go about a draft - 1) By talent 2) By needs. Clearly, the Lakers go for what they need and that's D'Angelo. I too, think that he's a flop ever since I saw him during Summer League. He doesn't seem to have the NBA physicality and is slow, so slow, I doubted if he could even run a fast break. BUT, all I'm saying is the Lakers went by their needs and that's what it is. It annoys me seeing people so bad at comprehending, they spell stupidity.
