You need a folding engine hoist, modified to be able to lift the winch up onto the front mount bracket (and save your back and another hernia). Beyond that, this looks to be the perfect setup that truly gives you the best of both worlds - a heavy wrecker with some awesome abilities, and a 5th wheel setup to be able to haul almost any trailer you have need to haul. It's very easy to understand why you made the decision that you did for the unit that you did - very nice looking setup, Casey!

    Hello from the Netherlands.
It might be an idea to place a bracket in the middle under your headboard rack boxes for the air couplings and lighting plug of the truck itself.
This way they are always out of the way and yet in the right place when connecting and disconnecting.
and perhaps also hang a bracket on the wrecker unit for the hydraulic hoses,
so you always place them in the same place and hang them in a good bracket that holds the couplings in place
    thanks for the video.

An Apex winch in a cradle pinned to the bracket is a great idea. I'm thinking a small A frame above the winch, with a rotating sheave head instead of a normal fair lead to make it easy, well easier on the rope anyway, to go off the sides of the truck if needed. A set of cables, with an Anderson style quick disconnect plug could be mounted under the center box of the headache rack for connecting it to the batteries.
I'm not in the wrecker business, but it makes sense in my head.

Add hydraulic lock on the front mounting plate will speed it up, just like the quick attach you have on wheel loaders to release or lock the bucket. And you have room in-front of the mount under the headboard to attach a permanent winch that you can use wen you work with a trailer.

Lights inside your headboard? Backup camera for your kingpin? Hydraulic operated landing gear? Places to store wooden 16"x16"x8" outrigger pads w/rope handles. Kingpin lock when not in use.

Yep, you definitely want to get a routine down for detaching and attaching the Zacklift. Store parts in the same location each time. Do it yourself so you know what has been done. Do walk arounds like you did. As a former truck driver nothing is more fun than hearing wham! wham! on the back of your cab, from lines I forgot to disconnect, after being distracted from my routine.

Looks good, got to say when looking at it when off the truck it kind of looks like the mechanical spider from the movie Wild Wild West,

I like every thing you have done here , being Versatile is Awesome , I have a 16' car trailer and needed a 12,000 lb Winch , what I did was I made it removable with a small cradle and I used large Anderson plugs for the 12v . I can see that on your truck already , I just Subscribed

The ZackLift is one sweet bit of engineering. I know nothing of wreckers and have absolutely no need or desire to run a towing service, but I want one just like that in the worst way. 😁
Great job explaining things, too, Casey!

6:20 Routine also helps you remember to do everything. I had a 7 step routine for loading when I was hauling crude oil in Texas. I counted the steps as I did them and then recount after I was done to make sure I had done everything.

This is a nice setup. It will be nice when the front landing gear are mounted permanently, which will shave a few minutes off the setup/takedown time. It seems like any time I have a suggestion lately, you already thought of it in the video or one of the other commenters beat me to the punch. Semper tow!

The rear stabiliser legs have a pilot operated valve , this means they won't retract unless hydraulic pressure is there to open the valve. The side support legs could be fitted with hydraulic cylinders instead of winding gear again with pilot valves to speed up the process of demounting .

Great video. But just a thought. Take the handles off of the front jacks. Weld a nut to the shaft same size as the chain tension bolts

I think if you added some tape or marks on the legs to help identify when they are lined up approximately with pin locations could help. I think when you get your routine down you could be under 10 minutes easy.

these explanation/tutorials are getting so straight forward you might as well add south main auto's tag "If I can do it you can do it too!" at the end. too bad the price of entry is so high
