  • I got called to tow an Amazon Prime trailer from ‪@UtilityTrailerMfg‬ back over the mountain to the Amazon Distribution Center after it had some pretty extensive repairs completed.
A fun fact about Amazon Prime, is that they now have ‪@YankumRopes‬ 7/8” x 30’ ropes in stock and ready to go just in time for the holiday shopping season! So if you’ve been thinking about getting a Yankum Rope, it’s never been easier!
Be sure to check out our Patreon project where we use whatever it brings in in a month as our budget to help someone the following month! BEST PLUG EVER! Thanks Casey!😎 (long comment warning) Amazon is such a beast, we’d love to not sell on Amazon but we found out we can’t not sell on Amazon in this day and age. The big disadvantage is being compared next to the cheap foreign ropes😢. At first glance, most people think all ropes are the same, but there are HUGE Differences (between nylon material quality, braid and splice) which make our ropes cost a lot more (and last ALOT longer too)

@@YankumRopesThe easiest way for Casey to get a bit of compensation for directing folks to Amazon to pick up some of your ropes is for him to sign up to be an Amazon Affiliate and then add the affiliate link to his video description. Unfortunately, the beast that is Amazon does not specify how much compensation, if any, Casey would get. As an affiliate myself, I find that tool type items seem to have higher pay out amounts than, say, kitchen items.

I'd be willing to bet that entire building is managed remotely via cameras and call centers. Pickers and drivers get their orders via computer from a remote call center. I'm surprised they havent gone to automated trailer movers too. Though with human drivers dropping trailers where and how they want, it would be hard for automated yard dogs to adapt to all the different ways people can drop trailers.

I agree. When you get older and your hearing isn't the best, it becomes a nightmare. They should add a key pad and a sign that has a location number so you don't have to spell stuff out. Then again I bet most of the driver's either have a phone app or something on their truck's computer that registars with the system. That way they can watch everything and send out spam.

Casey, you need to have a "yard delay" charge as well! You've shown the angle iron in a previous video, but this one showed it in place with the load on it, further explaining the reason behind it in case anyone was doubting it's effectiveness. Also, to clarify for those that were wondering what he was talking about with the fittings - every fitting you put on a hose creates restrictions in the airflow. You still have the pressure, but you lose the volume, and larger fittings are one way to overcome that issue (hopefully). In this case, it's obviously working great for him!!

I work for the company you took the trailer to. Getting in like you did. That’s just a Tuesday. Doing everything as cheaply as possible leads to hang ups that slow down your day. It will drive you mad at first. But after a while you learn to roll with it. It’s like moving to a house near railroad tracks. At first you hear every single train. But after a while it just becomes white noise. But even though I could make a lot more money doing the same job without the hang ups. It’s still my favourite job I’ve ever had. That is in large part due to the people I work with. I have an awesome crew, I even like my bosses. To me that is HUGE! I have some learning disabilities and a few mental health issues. So I have had more than my fair share of complications with both bosses and coworkers. I have been assaulted off camera by coworkers before. Because I can’t do things in the exact manner that that coworker believes I should and they can’t deal with that fact. There’s more than one way to do a job. As long as the outcome is the correct one. Who really cares. That’s the biggest part of why I was never able to compete my HD mechanic apprenticeship beyond first year. Too much old school mentality of my way or the highway or there’s nothing wrong with you just pull up your socks and do like everybody else. Which I simply can’t do. I can do the job. I just have to do it differently. It has the same outcome. Once I fix something it very rarely comes back. Any who. That’s my A.D.H.D. getting off track and onto a long winded story. So I will just stop here and say have a great day.

Almost exactly what I said. I wasn't giving advice specifically about Amazon but Distribution Centers in general. When in doubt, Shunt Drivers are the ones in the know or can help you out.

I owned a couple tow trucks in the early 80s and have friends who still do rescue and corporate towing. The Jack lift is a very interesting setup.

My counterpoint to the side stabilizer thing is that a rig like that doesn't typically pull loads at an angle that would require side stabilization. In theory you would try to get a straight on to the angle that you're pulling, right? It's not like a rotator that is supposed to be yanking huge loads at a 90° angle to the unit itself
