Misreading Scripture is a series that takes common scriptures and helps you to see them with a new set of eyes. Many of these are scriptures we have been innocently misinterpreting. And once we gain insight into the culture and context of the passage, all of a sudden it becomes clear in an entirely new way.

@RobinBarnhart he does that on purpose, sadly. I've noticed many mainstream scholars began outright denying the validity of End Times prophecy.
The Bible is full of prophecy until suddenly the End Times is brought up. Then because of fear of being shamed many mainstream scholars pretend End Times is purely metaphor.

@@KeepingWatch95 I wonder if he is amillennialist. I grew up believing that Jesus comes back ... the end. That there is no 1000 year reign. As I got older and understood to take Revelation literally, it changed everything.
We don't read the OT prophecies and think of them as allegorical, we know they are literal. Why would we assume the NT prophecies aren't the same?

One of my favorite mistranslations is the meaning of "The meek shall inherit the earth"! It is often thought that you should be meek! You should be quiet, gentle, and easily imposed on; submissive! This however is a modern definition of the word and IS NOT what it would have meant in Biblical times! Roman Charitiers referred to their Chariot Teams as being MEEK! They would have been useless as a competitive team if that meant what we now use as its definition! What they were saying is that their chariot teams were Disciplined and Well-Trained! That is what Meek meant in Biblical times that we were to be Disciplined, Well-Trained, to be educated! Not to be easily trod on!

    • @garytorresani8846
      @garytorresani8846 Před 5 měsíci

I agree with your first three corrected interpretations of false teachings or perhaps more appropriately called misinterpreted representations of God's Word. I do believe you miss the mark on Revelation. Much like Daniel was told the interpretation would be sealed up until the time of the end so too Revelation is about the very last days of the last days as John is called up into heaven to record those things which shall be. Of course Revelation provides hope for the downtrodden believer that there is ultimate victory in Christ but ultimately Revelation is clearly a very future prophetic timeline in relation to Christ's ministry on earth and that future is clearly coming into focus now.

Brandon teaches falsely about Holy Communion - BEWARE! Jesus Christ asked us to eat His flesh and drink His blood and where His flesh and Blood are then so is His Spirit. Please read the core relevant passages below of what Jesus Christ, the disbelieving Jews present and St Paul said in the Bible regarding the Lord’s Supper/Holy Communion/Eucharist, then the truth of how the Lord’s Supper can be celebrated as God intended.
      John 6:51-56
51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53 So Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; 55 for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. 56 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them.
      John 6:60-68 excerpts
60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This teaching is difficult; who can accept it?” 61 But Jesus, being aware that his disciples were complaining about it, said to them, “Does this offend you? …64 But among you there are some who do not believe.”… 64 For Jesus knew from the first who were the ones that did not believe…. 66 Because of this many of his disciples turned back and no longer went about with him. 67 So Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
Mark 14:22-24 The Institution of the Lord’s Supper
22 While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.”
23 Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, and all of them drank from it. 24 He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.
      1 Corinthians 10:15-16 - St Paul
15 I speak as to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?
      1 Corinthians 11:19 -20 & 29 - St Paul
19 Indeed, there have to be factions among you, for only so will it become clear who among you are genuine. 20 When you come together, it is not really to eat the Lord’s supper… 29 For all who eat and drink without discerning the body, eat and drink judgment against themselves.
The way to celebrate the Lord’s Supper as our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ intended is to be a member of the Catholic Church or Orthodox Church. Catholic and Orthodox Priests have received the Sacrament of Holy Orders by a Bishop of apostolic succession and thereby have the faculty to consecrate bread and wine to become the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit (known as transubstantiation since 1215). There is no other way to obey God’s request to eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus Christ. In the Sacrament of Holy Communion one receives Jesus Christ’s corporeal flesh and blood and His Spirit. Our one true God is most gracious and wise and one should lovingly accept His divine gift because “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you” (Jesus Christ).
      God bless you
      Chris

That may be true that others during that time wrote in a macabre and apocalyptic manner... but revelation is absolutely whats going to happen... and why its now..? because of the time of where Humanity is in its growth currently and how long it can sustain this rate of conditioning sin... ego and negativity... which compound generationally... with this generation being the most spoiled... resistant to conviction and accountability and raised to be against our Eternal Father... I'm sorry we don't want to hear something such as this... but its real this time... and that shall be confirmed absolutely in real life...
So we not gonna last much longer at this rate and HE not going to wait until we destroy ourselves and creation in a relatively short time from now before HE arrives... HE gonna sober us up and take full command of HIS environment and family... and if we do not prepare and condition ourselves and those we love all the way up til all Humanity to the best of our abilitiesprepare... there will absolutely be consequences... God bless and I respect your interpretations of scripture... but this goes beyond just words... the Holy Spirit will confirm those words in a variety of ways both inside and outside of us to clarify...

Revelation was given to John when he was exiled in 95 AD to Patmos by emperor Domitian who ruled from 81AD to 96 AD. John was then released 18 months later that is in 97 AD after the rule of Domitian ended. Revelation was given to John by Jesus straight before his release, after the persecution has already happened. There is no need for Jesus to give John a revelation of events which had already happened, and john had already seen and heard about them. Revelation is like a vision which points always to the near or far future events, but always to the future. The voice said to John : " Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter."---hereafter = in the future, and that is after Domitian and the persecution of those times.

So many people don't read the bible. And yet here we have The Chosen producing a very entertaining and, at times, a very moving series that so heavily edits to the degree that no more than 5% of the movie is actually Scripture in its origin. So, yet again, many who do not read the bible thoroughly will simply 'believe' the movie-based version of probably 95% of what they watch and hear, instead of holding fast to the 5% fact and shelving the 95% imagination. Shame... 😢🙏🏽

"Apple" is a Christian / Catholic tradition that first occurred when Jerome wrote the Latin Vulgate translation of Genesis. It is a wordplay on the Latin word MALUS (think "Malice") which means "evil", but pronounces as MALAS means "apple". This is why the Christians who descended from the Roman Catholics think of an apple.
Whereas the Jewish tradition often indicates that the fruit was a pomegranate said to have 613 seeds to remind us of the 613 commands given in Torah. Though obviously there are those who claimed that the fruit was a fig since they grabbed for fig leaves when they sinned.

Your argument appears to require we disregard and/or suspend our knowledge of Gen 3: 1, 2, 4 and 13 where the word serpent is used specifically. AmI correct that your assertion is since God said "upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life" means only then it became a "snake"? Problem with your fourth point is that it doesn’t have a leg to stand on if Revelation is written before AD 90 - AD 95. In other words it’d have to be written before Domitian came into power and we all know that it wasn’t. He died in AD 96. John was on Patmos at that point, so there would be zero need to write with a bunch of symbolism to give warning about something that’s already happened… and even less of a reason for symbolism if it’s just an historical account. Revelation very much points to the Dark Ages and different periods of time all the way to the present. In every era there are anti christ prospects and potential world wide tribulation events. This happens so that we will always be ready.

IMHO it was Death(Azrael) that tempted Eve, then she tempted Adam.
Death was not known to be with man, it's not till after the fruit that death fell upon man. There are angels known as Seraphim that have the name Fiery ones, or aka Fiery serpents. IMHO Genesis refers to serpent, this it was this type of angel in the garden.
IMHO it was not Lucifer in the garden he is not mentioned until the fall from grace. It doesn't mean he wasn't a part of it though.
Scripture says he was a murder from the beginning and the father of Lies, because there is no truth in him.
But I say but because of this referencing of Lucifer as a murderer, I think back to the first murder, which was that of Able. So in contrast it couldn't have been in reference to Eden.

Part 1/3 It's disheartening to hear Brandon either not understand some of these "false teachings" or diminish them. I have written a 2 part comment to break down 2 of these "false teachings" that to me need to be corrected. In Scripture, the LORD says all the time "I Will" about the future. These "I will" claims whether it was about sending a global flood, freeing the Israelites from Egypt, or sending a Messiah were literal events. They were events that happened at a specific time for a specific reason. It was how the LORD proved over and over again that He knows the end from the beginning and what's sad to see in this video is the minimization of that.
Sure there aren't individual mansions as in grand homes the LORD is preparing for us but there is a physical dwelling place for us that He will come back and take us to. We see that in Revelation 21 which leads me to my second beef with the video. But talking about John 14 first
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many [a]mansions (more accurately "dwelling places or rooms"); if it were not so, I would have told you.
    Key verse:
I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Where is Jesus going? Acts 1
9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
Jesus went to Heaven. How do we get to Heaven (Father's house?)
    John 14:
4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
When Jesus returns to take us to Heaven, where He has been, where He has prepared for us a dwelling place we will need to be changed.
    1 Corinthians 15:50-57
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed- 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
We see the dwelling place that is in Heaven coming down in Revelation 21
2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”...9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.
14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. 17 Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. 18 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. 24 And the nations [n]of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. 25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life."
Now we can call this symbolic and "apocalyptic literature" if we choose or instead we can read it as it's written and assume the city is an actual city that's in Heaven right now and will one day actually descend to earth that Jesus has gone to Heaven to actually prepare for us "His Bride".
    Second, let's talk about Revelation.
    Continued in Part 2.

The sin was disobedience. So why is it presumed evil for Adam and Eve to want to know good and evil? The plan for man is to eventually judge angels. How can we judge angels without knowing good and evil? In Psalm 1 we are to delight in the law of the Lord where we learn what is good and evil. People have told me that it is sin to intimately know evil insinuating that knowing evil is participating in evil. Yet God said in Genesis 3:22 that man had become like them to know good and evil.
I believe it is possible that God always intended to give man the knowledge of good and evil, but with the knowledge of good and evil and the destiny to judge angels comes great power. So God wanted to teach man obedience first, which is simple trust. It is interesting that when man became woke the immediate result was guilt, which caused them to cover themselves, blame each other, and hide from God. From that point moving forward there were two paths-woke guilt and simple trust in the Promised Seed of the Woman, which is unfolding all around us today.

It is really quite amazing for those of us who have spent many repeated cycles of careful consideration (over the course sometimes of years) of these opening chapters of Genesis. There is a lifetime of unpacking involved. So much information compressed into so few, simple words of historical narration. Fit for stories to children in Daily Vacation Bible School. Yet a challenge for the most earnest student in pursuit of a full “theology” (the knowledge of God), as well as “anthropology” (an accurate knowledge of Man).
Thus I am quick to say that I really appreciate your insightful comments here, because it shows that you are one who has given this particular, very basic (foundational) story, a lot of consideration. I have come to believe that it has been carefully engineered by the mind of God to provoke just that process of careful consideration, pondering, rumination, meditation, and reflection, that leads to an intimate appreciation of just who God actually is. In terms of his moral character, in other words. There is more here than simply meets the eye.
A lot of seemingly low-hanging fruit turns out to be deeply significant and profound upon reflection. And I think you have come much closer than most.

It very easily could have been either. However we know that it couldn't have been what we commonly consider a house. The disciples were all together in the upper room of the house. That is 120 people together in one room. It had to have been an extremely large room and an extremely large house to have fit 120 people and it started out as at least 500 people.
I don't really think they would have been in the temple praying in the name of Jesus because it was the temple. The religious authority ran the temple. They wouldn't have simply let them go unaccosted praying in the name of one who they killed as a blasphemer.

This is a rather divisive video for otherwise harmless topics. I really hate to be the one to come out and say all this but here goes. I do this out of love for my fellow brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus, and I hope that this is well received and not met with anger or resentment:
Point #1 is such a non-issue. It frankly doesn't matter what fruit you picture in your mind when reading those verses. For all we know the fruit mentioned in those passages could be something that stopped existing after the Flood or only existed in the Garden of Eden. If you meet someone that adamantly insists it is an apple then you need to pray for them because that is such a mundane detail to get hung up on. I feel like if I approached anyone in my Church about this topic they would just shrug their shoulders and go "Oh, that's interesting, ok." and be done with it. Who really cares about this point SO MUCH to make it into a "false teaching".
Point #2 is also...questionable. He is correct that the KJV uniquely refers to "mansions" instead of "rooms" like most other translations go, that's fair enough...however, HIS interpretation is very concerning. He leaves out the very obvious and direct meaning that Jesus was telling the Apostles that he want about to die and would eventually return to where is Father is (Heaven) and when he goes back he would prepare a place for them (including us). That isn't just some fancy symbolism but a very literal assurance that even when Jesus is no longer on Earth with us, and when we die, we don't have to be afraid because he is preparing a place for us in Heaven while we wait for Judgement Day.
Point #3 is where I became genuinely upset with this video. What purpose does this point have? Acts 2:6 specifically mentioned a crowd forming around the Apostles as they began speaking in tongues. I also read the ESV, NIV, CSB and NONE of them give even a foot-note indicating that Pentecost took place at the Temple grounds. In fact, base this in mind...ALL OF ISRAEL IS INSIDE JERUSALEM. The Temple cannot physically fit the ENTIRETY OF ISRAEL in it all at once. It would make perfect sense that the Apostles (who are much poorer than people give credit) would have likely stayed at someone's house that could fit them and likely many other poorer Israelites. All translations I read indicated that the Apostles were on the Second Floor of a house. Not only that but apparently no manuscripts are noted to have ever given even a hint that they were in the Temple rather than a big house. This entire point wouldn't be such a big deal if Brandon didn't outright call it a FALSE TEACHING and by proxy refer to anyone who teaches it, false teachers.
Point #4 is just purely deceptive. Why? Because is analogy is grossly misrepresentative of Revelation. The books of Daniel, Ezekiel, and Isaiah all have the interpretations of several passages of Revelation in them. The beasts with many horns? Daniel saw them in his dream and explicitly told us what they represented. They represent many kingdoms and their rise and falls (with one yet to occur). It's true that some of Apocalyptic Literature is difficult to read if you are not aware of Numerology (like how the number 7 is symbolic of God and represents "wholeness" or "completeness") but a lot of the passages in Revelation of ALREADY BEEN INTERPRETED by Prophets and are just rehashing older prophecies to tell us that the FINAL DAY is approaching and that the complete fulfillment is these prophecies hasn't occurred yet. I agree that Revelation is supposed to be a book about hope and to give us peace. I never heard anyone doubt that point.
Lastly, some of the word-play he used is very deceptive or misleading. Why specify so strongly that Revelation isn't "only about predicting the future"? Nobody ever describes the Gospels as "only meant to prove Jesus is the Messiah" and nobody feels the need to make that point. I have noticed, however, that as humanity approaches the day of judgement there are more and more people who seem adamant about throwing a wrench into the book of Revelation to make it seem like it isn't an important book at all and you can effectively skip it. It makes me think about the verses from Jude 1:18 - 19 "They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.' These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit."
This video seems very strongly worded in order to cause debate and division when it blatantly says "Beware These False Teachings" and then proceeds to give rather inoffensive teachings as these super dangerous and must avoid ideas. Who cares if I call the fruit an apple if I also give the complete message of the Genesis story of the Fall? Who cares if we specifically get mansions in Heaven so long as we know and are comforted by the idea that we will be with our Savior when we die? Who cares where precisely Pentecost happened when what matters is that scores of people heard the Gospel and saw the miracle of the Spirit allowing the Apostle to speak every language to every people? Why are we just ignoring the very legitimate debate many Bible scholars have over Eschatology (or the study of End Times)? Most importantly, why are my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ saying these things warrant "false teaching" which is akin to just saying heresy? These are serious accusations that should warrant debate if it is even worth debating. Not blanket dismissal and condemnation.

It is not "harmless" to call God a liar. 2 Jhn 9 says whoever does not abide in Christ's doctrines does not have a relationship with God. This is extremely more serious than you want to believe it is. Rev. 22:15 lists ppl who love and practices lies as being among the condemned. There are going to be be "Christians" among the condemned, and they're going to keep insisting that God is wrong.

Thank you. I totally agree. I wrote in a different comment that with my background, I have never really read the Bible, but after watching the Chosen, I started. But I do find it difficult to understand and like how it is represented and demonstrated in the show as it demonstrates the humanity in Jesus etc. Videos such as this stirs up debates and if anything, turns me off from the Bible and formalized religion. Watching "Christians" blast others of a different religion does nothing but anger me and push me away. Jesus taught us to use love, kindness, forgiveness and to be non judgemental, yet we have so called Christians being the exact opposite, judging others saying their view is the only correct one. Talk about hypocrisy. 2000 yrs later and we have people on YT acting like a Pharasee as they thump the Bible which does nothing but push people away. As long as someone's religion is based on love, compassion and non judgemental, it's fine with me, it's called free will. I certainly don't believe that God would condemn a loving kind Buddist , Muslim, Native American spirituality and that's good enough for me. And no, I don't care if it was an apple, peach or pear in the Garden of Eden. Seriously.... is that even the slightest bit relevant?

Satan suggested that God did not have their best interest at heart. That was, and is, the main problem humans have inherited from Adam, the belief that God does not have their best interest at heart.
Revelation uses symbols that are explained within the bible, so it is not hard to figure out. The major thing to understand from Revelation is that Jesus is actually going to return to earth. That is one of the bible's main messages, and it is what the prophets hold up for us to look forward to. It is not a bait and switch promise of some symbolic return of Christ.

I might comment further but for now... the scripture says 'serpent'. There is at least one modern snake with the vestige of a pectoral girdle. You are saying that since snakes crawl that one never stood. Besides, since Satan was able to "take the form of a serpent" there is no reason to assume that this one serpent couldn't walk upright.
    That's your first probable 'mis'assumption.
On your second ... you're right. The fruit is never called an apple.
Now I'll have to back up the tape to hear what else you've said. I did notice that you missed the obvious misunderstanding regarding the number of animals that came to Noah's ark. It was just two of each.
So I'll agree that we as a whole make glaring mistakes. Most are because we never actually read the scriptures.
There are nonessential things that the Bible is not clear on. Those usually lead to misunderstandings. But we're not supposed to spend our time arguing about "how many angels will fit on the head of a pin".

Unfortunately, for me, this calls into question you're interpretations in general and I will have to move on. BEWARE These False Teachings is an apt title for this one.

First of all that would have to be a pretty big upper room and secondly women would never be in the sleeping quarters of a man who they were not married to. Then there were people there from 15 different countries and 3000 people got saved. It had to be in the temple, but people just don't get it.

Not so sure about your teaching on the Book of Revelation. I mean, it says one third of mankind will die; one third of all animals will die; one third of all the fish will die; the entire Earth will be decimated. In fact, it clearly says that unless God intervenes, nothing will be left alive. I don't quite see how this is consistent with your teaching. Did the early Christians believe that one third of everything in the world being destroyed was just apocalyptic language? Perhaps I am a little confused.

    • @garytorresani8846

Revelation is a form of Jewish apocalyptic literature. I suggest that Christians study this book under a true New Testament historically based scholar or a messianic rabbi who will tell you what the symbolic language meant in a 1st cent context.
This last days and rapture theology is fairly recent in Christian evangelical circles. Only American evangelicals would think they are being persecuted in the country or that they would escape the tribulation or that God will rapture them just because they call themselves Christian. This attitude has led to the notion that our planet will be replaced by a new planet, so its no problem is we destroy the one we have.
The kingdom lies within as the Lord taught. It's already here if you get away from man made doctrine and know that Christ lives in you, your hope of glory. Its a state of mind.
As we are rapidly destroying ourselves and our planet, God doesn't need to pour out his wrath. He can just allow us to reap the consequences of our own actions.

We can’t imagine that the snake had legs before this happened because the Bible does not say. The curse was on Satan, whom God was speaking to. The behavior of a serpent in its natural environment, crawling on its belly and flicking its tongue as if to lick up dust, fittingly symbolized Satan’s debased condition. Having previously enjoyed a lofty position as one of God’s angels, he was consigned to the lowly condition. God continued to say to the serpent: And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring. He will crush your head, and you will strike him in the heel.” This also shows that God was not talking to the actual animal but to Satan. So, basically Satan became as lowly as the snake that he used to tempt Eve. The Bible says that Eve was fully deceived, but Adam was not. Adam lived in the Garden for many years alone and had a close relationship with God. Eve was not alive that long. Satan used this to his advantage and that is why he approached Eve instead of Adam. Satan never approached Adam. Eve encouraged Adam to eat the fruit, and Adam chose to listen to his wife instead of God even after knowing God and having a close relationship with him for a long time.

Pretty sure the woman in Revelation isn't Mary. She's representative of different things. She's representative of Mary(the woman who actually gave birth to Jesus) but she's also representative of Eve(as the curse on the serpent was that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent's head). Some say it's representative of Isreal (the children of Israel) because Jesus came through Isreal.
