First of all, better use more layers of newspaper. Wear a mask for the fumes. Use steel wool to get that mess off the sides/bottom/back of the oven. Rinse with warm water some vinegar. The vinegar neutralizes the oven cleaner. Rinse with plain water. Another note. If you have a self cleaning oven you still have to clean the edges around the stove they will not get clean using the self cleaning oven.
