Everyone's talking about the visuals and casting, but can we appreciate how they've kept the essence of the original series? It's like seeing a childhood dream come alive
I appreciate how close the cinematography is to the cartoon. I hope the acting is good quality and that they don't stray too far from the story. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the original creators of the show on the set to help either advise or produce this show?
Yes! Absolutely.
hmm sokkas one attempt at sounding funny here was really weak...the visuals and cast is great but im worried about the writing quality
They did a wonderful job with this from what I can tell - locations like Kyoshi Island, Omashu, and the Air Temples are immediately recognizable, and at least from the trailerr it seems they have captured what made ATLA a truly powerful and magical show.

Im sorry but a live action version will never even get CLOSE to the original and it changes the way i look at the show
We are in the beginning stages of the golden era of visual media. Mark my words, we used to dream of companies making live action adaptation and NOT CHANGING ANYTHING about the outfits, character designs, scenery. Its honestly surreal.

One of my favorite things about this adaptation is you can tell how young the characters are. Sure in the animated show you know that they’re all teens, but here, they truly look like kids

@@brianveldkamp2059Why would you be excited about them being children? Most of us who grew up with this series aren't children anymore.

What I like about is how the cast sounded exactly like kids. They portray one important core of this show: how kids realize the world is not just a playground, but a mess need to be taken care of.

Im not a big fan of the voice from the actor of Sokka. In the show he was more bright and voice cracky and teenager like. But he gives big sokka vibes so I can look past the not so perfect voice. ^^
@@dojando6003i think its bc sokka in the show had more “goofy” humor whereas this version is more sarcastic humor. And tbf that really is the only way they could do sokka, trying to paste cartoon humor into live action would just look ridiculous, in a bad way.

Stop throwing out important scenes from original! Especially when Aang is learning bending other than air. The first season shows almost none of his effort learning waterbending when there were a lot of scenes showing his effort to master waterbending in the original! Stop unnecessary drama and stop cutting out IMPORTANT SCENES!!!
Production team, listen to me! As one of the biggest fan of Avatar, a cartoon that I have watched when I was in middle school, the only complaint I have is above, the rest are perfect, perhaps more acting skills needed but PLEASE DON’T CUT OUT SCENES WHEN AANG LEARNING BENDING, IT’S IMPORTANT!
A word of advice to new watchers. Don’t watch the show as if you’ve already watched the animated original. Watch it as if you’ve never watched Avatar before, or maybe with just a vague memory of it. It’ll be a lot more enjoyable that way. No live action adaptation can ever be exactly the same as the original.
It’s been a few years since I’ve last watched the anime Avatar but I was as giddy as a little girl while watching this show. It was so cool to see my childhood anime come to life, and so well too with the special effects. It’s not an easy thing to make such fighting scenes and the bending look so real.
The cast that plays the characters are not all accurate, but they portrayed them well. The acting was too intense at times but they made it work. The plot was changed here and there but it didn’t take away from the main story.
It’s not perfect but it’s the best live action adaptation of Avatar. There are people who are not happy with it but don’t let that prevent you from watching it. There are a LOT of people who loved it, Netflix, so I hope we get more seasons 🥺
EXACTLY! I’m glad not every fan on the internet hates it. So much vitriol is being thrown at the show by fans of the original for it not being exactly the same. I personally think a lot of the new changes are really good and flow pretty well! There are definitely some changes that are questionable, but they don’t ruin the show for me. The show is still fantastic, and here’s hoping we get a season 2!
Please let this be good.

Must suck being an NPC
Haha At least Appa looks Waaay better than the movie. 😂
So glad to see Sokka as the meat & sarcasm guy! Retaining the humor & youthful jubilance are crucial for this to be a success.
And he’s not playing as just goofy either. We’ll see when it premieres but just from this trailer I’m getting the vibe that Sokka is gonna be comedic but still retain his wisdom and seriousness for when the moment needs it. Which is what the original character was. Funny but with layers and real personality to the character and not just quips or going the complete opposite route.
Like I said we’ll see when it premiers but if I’m right then that’s a good sign of good directing and understanding the characters well which the movie was well known for failing at😅
Yes!!! 100%. Sokka was my favorite with a close 2nd being Toph. The "other movie" was disappointing on so many levels but the hollowness of Sokka in it had me so disappointed.
I'm glad they remaked this, the avatar live action needs justice
The casting was done so well and the special effects and CGI is great. The only thing I would want for season 2 and beyond is better wardrobe, hair and makeup. The wigs 😭😭. But overall amazing! Iroh is still the lovable, jolly and wise uncle who loves and protects Zuko.
So far, the trailers look really nice, and the CGI doesn't disappoint. The only thing I'm still worried about is whether the show is gonna be as funny and goofy as the original. I get that the show has grown as well as the audience, but for me, the comedy was still a huge aspect.
Yeah sokka seemed a bit to serious in the trailer I hope he still has his humor
Same, personally all i want to see is that Aang is still the optimistic jovial kid he always was.
The show was never funny nor goofy it had some moments but other than that it was meh
Then watch the animated show again lmao ? If this show is more serious with a few fun moments which is obvious to have, your comment is just stupid lmao

@user-bl6oj1hl8i new scenes, they are going to show some back story when the firenation started their conquest of the air nation and its supposed to tie into the final fight at the end between Ozai and Aang 🧐
NETFLIX PLEASE!! As an original fan There are so many mistakes in the 1st season, I don’t know where to start. don’t mess up the 2nd & 3rd seasons. Literally all you have to do is copy the original series and put it into rehearsal. You can change some things, but there are so many iconic scenes and cast characters that didn’t need a change, and those are the things that made us fall in love with the original series (watch Drew Gooden review video & listen to og fans reviews too), Cast has so much potential but it’s just very poor directing… The original creators took so much time and effort to perfect the original series and you can see by the way it turned out. It hurt my eyes when I saw those mistakes. Just listen to the reviews and the original fans. So just please!!
Yes especially when they leave out how Aang is mastering waterbending. I feel hurttttt all those scenes are important. I hope they won’t repeat the same mistake for book2 live action coz that one got most of Aang mastering earthbending from Toph or if not I swear I will chase Netflix and this live action production team 😂

Honestly they missed so many of the things that made the animated series so great. Like the kyoshi warriors being baddass women not horndogs for no fuckin reason or aang being a literal child and having to grow up to become the avatar we need him to be. As well they totally focus on the wrong relationship since the animation is all about the kids and their journey and how it made them into adults. This for some reason only focuses on the people from their past that they don't even ever see any it's like 90% flashback and telling me what their feeling.
Don’t expect this to surpass the animated show, we all know that’s impossible, I just want them to honor the show and live up to it better than the film did.

Big Fan of the cartoon me and my son watched when he was a kid and I have watched it over several times by myself! I will continue to watch over and over ❤❤
The casting for Uncle Iroh already looks great, without even hearing his dialogues.
To me personaly Uncle Iroh is one of the most important characters of the entire show. He was the true father to Zuko, and never wanted to harm anybody, he was allways defending himself and his nefew.
Sooo I dont wanna ruin your picture of Iroh but he was one of the mos feared firebenders in the world of avatar and was serving in the fire nations military as a general and commander. He conquered much land and probably also killed and captured many innocent people. So to say he never wanted to hurt someone is pretty ... lets call it falttering xD
BUT he changed after his own son died. And after that, I agree with you, he is one of the most iconic and important characters. And all the little details that are hidden inside the show that show how much he cares about Zuko and helping him is just amazing.
Iroh is half of avatar. You take out iroh and the show is permanently incomplete

That and the final fight between aang and the fire lord. I CANT WAIT.
I loved sokka started hallucinating in the desert 😂
Same! It was such a scene because that was the first moment Aang and Zuko didn't fight each other but together
That’s actually something that gives me a lot of optimism for the show.
That scene is significant narratively because it shows how well Aang and Zuko work together, and it foreshadows Zuko’s change. In the Shyamalan movie, Aang and Zuko fought independently, defeating the purpose of the scene.
In this, they are clearly having the two rely on teamwork, and to me, that indicates they not only saw the scenes, but understand what makes them important.
I think it would’ve been more interesting if instead of a live action remake, instead we got a live action show about a different Avatar. Like how the Witcher made an animated prequel.
Long ago, fans of the animated series lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when M. Night Shyamalan attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all three seasons, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished (and another Avatar with blue people tried to take Korra's place). Ten years passed and fans discovered the new Avatar, a live action series on Netflix, and although the first season is great, it has a lot to learn before it's ready to save skeptics. But I believe Netflix can save the fandom.

Trailers are always much better than the actual show or movie.
They've said it's not a 1:1 adaptation, there are going to be some small differences, some scenes shown that weren't in the original , ect. But it sounds like they really want it to be close to a 1:1 remake just with added stuff to make it more detailed and better explain certain things , or showcase fights that weren't
This show was amazing. It exceeded the movie and I dare to say even the animated series. This proves that diversity matters, well done to the cast and producers!
The entire first season was a lot of fun, and I hope there's more to come!! Saying that it's "not as good as the animated version," is like saying "the book is better" for any live action. Just look at The Lion King "live action" compared to its animated version's splendor. This is a similar thing, but for those of us who enjoy seeing our favorite fantasy titles in live action, this is a REAL TREAT! Thank you Netflix!! I love the blend of Asian cultures and lore.
If I could change just one thing, I'd like more episodes just because this first season felt more rushed more than fast-paced. It left me wanting MORE!!
Whoever decided to put the credits theme percussion into the main theme cooked, that's hype
Ikr! I love the show’s theme music so much
rent was due !!
if they get that guy saying "hi, zuko here" i can die peacefully
That’s book 3 stupid r r etard
It’s crazy how specific this is
If the show does well enough to get to that point they should absolutely have that moment conclude a season.
@@andrewsteranit’s an amazing part
And "that's rough buddy" lool yes please
This series is firreeeee🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
SEASON 2 PLEASE!!!!!!
Hearing the soundtrack after so many years nearly brought me so many memories! The 5-Year wait was so worth it!
DIDN’T ASK: MY CONTENT IS BETTER
Literally, as soon as the main theme hit, tears immediately welled up

You can say that again 🎉🎉🎉
I legit teared up and got goosebumps!
The original is such a special thing and there won't be anything quite like it, but as someone who loves it dearly, this looks amazing and I'm pretty excited
Best thing about the original is if this Netflix show isn't
good will we still have that.
My family and I have watched the entire series many, many times over the years. As you said, it's really something special.
DIDNT ASK: MY CONTENT IS BETTER 😂
Yes, we can always fall back to the masterpiece M. Night Shyamalan left us 💖
I feel that the best way to enjoy a show or movie based on another is to pretend that that came first
I watched the whole first season in less than a day. It was just that good!
I have just finished watching this adaptation .And yep my childhood has officially been ruined
Why I actually almost cried because how good this looks they finally doing a live action right! It's about time ! 😊
"finally doing a live action right" One Piece?
@@benediktmathes2528
He does not refer to Netflix's track record but to Avatar's.
@@Ninjaananasbut they did make a live avatar the last Airbender it was the movie which was garbage
@@quintaviouswilliams161They never said once that this was the only live action avatar
@@quintaviouswilliams161, that's what they meant by finally doing it right
They did the iconic "AANG hit the Statue on the airscooter" 😂😂😂
For realll
The acting of aang and zuko can be better. But i think they will become better as the series goes on. They need to be better because the entire series is almost entirely based on their story arch. But i can say that this is worlds better than the movie. Ill still stick to the anime tho (which i watched a million times already). Tho the series deserves some chance if not a place in our avatar heart
Dear beautiful man who plays Sokka, you are not only perfect beyond belief due to to your uncanny likeness to the original character, but also because you are an excellent actor and I love everything about you. A+ 10/10 would recommend. Xoxoxo
I'm so glad Nexflix finally understood the key to success: making adaptations true to the source material with a good cast. There's no need to make major changes.
let's wait until it's fully released first
Well said
Very early to be saying this....
its not really true to source material
Changes are needed. Before they just did too much in the wrong areas, while keeping the wrong things too true to the original. Ed in Cowboy Beebob is a perfect example. It just didn't, and literally couldn't, work in live action. Not with staying that true to the character. In one piece they nailed it. They kept the original spirt and ideas alive of the show and characters. While making what changes needed to be made for the jump to live action. It seems they may hit that balance again. Lets hope.
This looks amazing. As a 31 year old man that watched the original show aired in Nickelodeon between 2005 and 2008 when I was 12 years old, I loved it. I couldn't be happier, especially with the music and how bending looks. Hopefully the show reflects everything we've seen on this trailer.
I'm 32 and feel the exact same way. This has always been my favorite cartoon I even rewatched with my 11 year old daughter like 4 years ago and she loved it I even liked the movie the made before but this is on a whole other level of awesome I was choking up a bit hearing the soundtrack.
I'm 31 and honestly this doesn't look good to me. It's just M Night in HD lol I'll stick with the animation. Especially because the original creators had nothing to do with this.
Haha I be there 36, 6 days after this comes out. I was watching this trailer with a huge smile on my face, my wife was looking at me like a I had 10 heads 😂😂😂. I CANNOT wait for this
Just today i was watching the last Episodes again when Aang got into his full power and Zuko really acepting who he is fighting against Azula . I am 36 💁🏻♀️😁 still love this show 🌞
I am looking forward to the live action
As a 33 year old man, I teared up at how happy this trailer made me feel.
this show was really good cant wait season 2 i burn that serie in 1 day
The soundTRACKKKKKKKKKK!!! 🔥
That last part chaka chaka chaka when aang was activating avarar form had me stood up❤
i absolutely adore the casting for uncle iroh and zuko. They look exactly how i’d expect them in real life. Actually impressed so far with this live action take
I gotta do this to you though: who's suko? lol

This looks amazing, my mind is blown. I love that it has kept the essence of the original, every little detail looks incredibly accurate. Love it.
Your mama looked amazin, and she blew my mind
yeah sure netflix will make avatar a transgender😂
wait until they reveal their genders and whole alphabet pronounce.😂😂
It almost makes you wonder why the original creators left.
whitewashed sokka and kitara is a true let down. brings back echoes of m night sham's garbage rendition. Netflix has worked on this for years, how tf did they miss that sokka and kitara are brown skinned? They should hit up the One Piece guys, before disrespecting the fanbase once again.
Things that were great about this show:
1. The visuals and scenery were all amazing and accurate to the original
2. Some changes they made made so much sense and were honestly amazing. Ex: the 41st division, bigger southern water tribe, Lu Ten's fueral, including the agni kai between zuko and his father, the air temple massacre.
3. It was very well casted and people who say otherwise need to look deeper into things.
4. They kept the spirit of the og show
5. The martial arts was cool to watch
6. It was amazing seeing an all asian and indigenous cast
Things that were not so great:
1. The writing was horrible and the actors could only do so much with that so it came off very bland.
2. They changed Bumi and Katara's characters completely and for the worse. Also that changed the relationship between sokka and katara.
3. It should have been longer instead of shoving a ton of episodes all into one because it didn't make sense.
4. The characters did not spend that much time together so it felt like there was not enough of a relationship.
5. Too much exposition
The serie is really god, the cast is great, i hope we can see next seassons, i can not wait to see Toph
I don’t think I’ve ever cried for a Netflix trailer before. I’m kind of in awe of Aang’s actor, that one clip of “I don’t want the responsibility,” and then Sokka reassuring him had me in tears. Tbh, this looks amazing, and totally validated my hopes for this reimagining of the show.
That to me is what already got me, and personally, the crew already got right in these scenes
You cried at a movie trailer? Bruh
Dude did you SEE THE SHINE IN AANG'S EYES!? Kid looked like he was about to CRY which nearly made ME cry oh GOD when we get to the southern air temple....oof.
Omg I thought it was just me 😭 😂
@@cumgang0372 I don't think you realize just how significant the original was and is to an entire generation
I am Genuinely amazed how much Daniel Dae Kim looks like Fire Lord Ozai in this footage, props to the costume and casting departments, everyone looks awesome and captures alot of the characters' vibes
I didnt even realise it was him!
I was trying to figure out who that was. Thank you!
The fatherlord casually being a daddy
The casting is 99% spot on, the acting is great, visuals could be a little better.. but it's good enough. Hopefully two more seasons will arrive. Netflix would be INSANE not to keep this show going and potentially make Legend of Korra next (or an original story).
You Joking?! The casting is 99%? And acting is great?!😂😂😂.
Just like Avatar Roku, from an old skinny character to a chubby one...
The biggest fall of this show is the bad Casting and Acting.
It is. Elaborate thoroughly how it's not? it fits the animated show almost spot on.
Being a negative dumb sheep that follows the easy negative herd, is just pathetic. So please, elaborate on how it is not :)@@samuraix6702
Some stuff just doesn't have to be live action. Its fine with it being just animated.
