Cool build. That .54 cal is getting into the true big bore area. The fun will be shooting to find the sweet spot load. About the names you've added to your rifle. do those great grand kids a favor. Get a small journal style book and write the stories about those people. They'll be glad to read about and know something about those family from early years. That will mean as much to them as the gun itself!
You did a great job on that rifle my friend! I especially like the names of loved ones in the stock. I was also impressed at how fast the lock time was! I think I'm a little older than you...I put the Lyman peep sights on mine and my groups got a lot tighter. Be well.
I really enjoy shooting my primitive rifles. I’ve taken a few does with them. I really want to take a deer with my fathers 54 Hawkin before I take another deer with my rifles. Lol I’ve used my dads Hawkins since I was 15 on and off and have never shot a deer with it
Outstanding, glad to see you finally send a round downrange with the rifle.
I have been thinking about getting a muzzleloader. This was interesting and helpful. I like the embellishments you added!
Thank you I appreciate that, any questions please ask

I AGREE WITH THE 3F POWDER AS LONG AS THE BULLET IS UNDER 300 GRAINS
Nice seeing someone else in Northern Michigan that uses more traditional muzzleloaders vs in lines.

Lol you get a deer before a award! We shall see
Some locks like the bottom of the flint and frizzen face wiped after each shot. Might try giving that a shot. Every one is different.
Oh definitely, it was the first firing lol she’s tighted right up after a few rounds
What solution did you use to brown the barrel and furniture? It looks great!
