    I think I speak for everyone when I say that Joe carries the entire DOTA section of the yogs. From editing, to shoutcasting, to doing extra content on his channel with streams and podcasts, to keeping the scrub streams entertaining while Daf is too busy licking his lips last hitting. Thank you for feeding us hungry DOTA frogs

    If I had to watch Daf play without Joe being the voice of reason, I would break multiple things around me in frustration. Thank you, Joe, for saving me from self-inflicted ruin via madness.

    only daf could miss a point blank shot on a stunned, stationary target.
    I think he's capable of shooting a gun and missing the walls of the room that he is standing in.

    Just in case Pyrion actually cares about how one word can mean "they do not know", I studied linguistics and always had it explained to me that languages like Xhosa and Zulu are very morphologically rich, meaning that their words are made up of lots of different sections that all give more information, an example in English would just be like how we add the suffix -s at the end of words for plurals, or -ing to show that it is a verb.
    English makes use of lots of auxiliary words to give more context, like how we don't have verb endings to say "I walk [future tense]" so instead we have to say "I will walk" or "I am going to walk" but we do have a suffix for past tense with "I walked".
    Also just the fact we have to say "I" to denote we are talking in first person instead of modifying the verb with a prefix or suffix is an example of an auxiliary. If anything you could see pronouns in English as a sort of odd prefix that isn't connected to the word, at the end of the day all of it is just about how you think about the sentence structure/document it with a writing system.
    Also English makes use of grammatical relations in sentences to give context, like how we have Subject Predicate/Verb Object word order so when we say "the cat bit the dog" we know it's the cat that was the Subject, and the dog is the Object of this biting which is the Predicate/Verb.
    So with the example of "they do not know" you can see how in English we have to add this auxiliary verb "do" just so our system of making a negative verb - with another axillary verb "not" - can continue to function. And all of that is the case even though the "do" wouldn't be required if you wanted to say the opposite: "they know", so already our language makes this sentence a bit longer than most languages would. Plus many languages convey the information of the subject of "they" through verb endings, and there's quite a few that also denote if something is a negative without having to use a separate auxiliary word like "not" so you can see quite quickly how a language could convey all the same meaning with a single word.
    But like I said, the decision of what is a word and what is a prefix/suffix has just been arbitrarily decided over time, or by one person that wanted to document the language in the example of Zulu; those pronouns before verbs in English could just have easily been seen as prefixes that attach to the start of verbs if English was discovered by some Christian missionary in the 1800s that had a passion to document this new language he found. We could just as easily write "hewalked", "iwalked" and "theywalked" in the same way we do write "I walk", "I walkED", “I’m walkING” and not "I walk", "I walk ed", “I’m walk ing”.

      Another lanuage that has this feature is actually Turkish.
      They do not know is: Bilmiyorlar.
      Bil: know, mi: not, yor: present tense, lar: they.
      This makes these languages very difficult to learn, I found out the hard way.

    • @pyrionflax
      @pyrionflax Před 2 měsíci +3

      believe it or not I do actually care, and this was a great explanation. as you can tell, I am not a linguist so this never occurred to me. thank you taking the time to explain.

    • @napstacube
      @napstacube Před měsícem

      @@pyrionflax Also, it was not meant to be Zulu. It, of course, was russian, just written using the English alphabet. "Abuzish" means "you are abusing." What exactly did they mean by that? Who knows. Just after that he also wrote "pidor" which means "f*ggot."
      "Люблю Егорку" also wasn't about the 1984 soviet movie :D. Егор (Yegor) is just an East Slavic name and Егорка (Yegorka) is a diminutive of that name. So basically they are saying "I love lil' Yegor"

    Somehow Daf manages to yet again dazzle us by continuing to play worse than before. I honestly don't get how it's even remotely possible to put so many hours into something, but refuse to get any better. Because to some degree it most certainly is intentional, wilful ignorance. He _genuinely_ thinks he knows better than everyone else in all situations. Daf is the personification of the Dunning-Kruger effect, with permanent residence on its highest mountain.
    Watching him not only ignore, but actively oppose advice people give him is absolutely infuriating. Poor Joe, I can't imagine having to try and coach him every week for the past few years. If that was me, I'd have just ended it all by this point 💀
    And hot _damn,_ I can't wait for next week's episode 😅

    People need to remember about a lot of players, they get shell shocked, game over game, because they fall so far behind in levels and items, every game, that the enemy hero become comparably OP. This leads to a cycle, as they get stomped by a hero that was seven levels ahead, this leads to the player then in a panic early the next game. They fall behind and eventually the enemy overtakes them in levels and money and the cycle is back to the beginning, stomped.
