Underappreciated aspect of this is the multitasking that Andy has to do. His own emotions on a case that he's been on for years, looking after the father, keeping everything going well with Andy Jr, and by the book police work in all that. Masterclass. Next one up is one of the best moments in NYPD Blue history.

Franz's angry visage is scary indeed, but it's a picture-perfect snapshot of profound kindness next to dad's glare before he dropped the booze. I find it difficult to be impressed with any man's signature intimidating look after being on the receiving end. That said, angry Sipowitz might just wield enough gravitas to make me confess to something I never did.

This is when you see just how talented Detective Sipowicz is at reading people. At pushing them, riding the edge of what he can do to get the suspect to tell him what he needs to know. All while watching out for the victim's father and Andy's son. Perhaps his finest moment.

My mouth just about hit the floor once I realized that Mr. Bucci's daughter might just be alive. That was not what I hade even contemplated when this interrogation started. Dennis Franz (Sipowicz) did a great job playing a detective in NYPD Blue and Hill Street Blues. This scene was great. The great part about this scene is that some detectives have a unique sense about them when it comes to crime and the bad guys. Andy had a gut feeling about this guy and he saved the little girl. There are so many detectives out there that have this ability and as a society we must not only thank them but back them up. Steve Bocho made this series and other police series so he deserves credit as well. Most police officers realize after a few years on the job that it is a thankless job. But I would tell them 1 day, they will understand it. They will have helped more people then they realized. Thin blue line, dont let them erase it. (Camden NJ)

Milch did a good job letting people get glimpses of pre boose Andy in this season. Moments like this clarify why fancy stated once " if a member of my family ever was killed or harmed I would want him as the lead detective" . And a previous comment spoke of the directing it is marvelous in this scene especially the shots of the perpcwhere the camera is tilted looking down then readjusted for a zoom in shot slowly. It'd kinda like a flashlight to the viewer exposing him as the weasel that he is
