Went up to Carew Tower with SirensOfCincinnati to film this. 1000T, 1000, T-128s, E-classes, MODs. I was trying to focus on the 4/5 'bolt right below us.
You are correct. The Remote Terminal Unit failed on the 1000 when the new system was installed, rendering it inactive. The blower, chopper, and rotator are still fine. It won't be removed, since it would cost a lot of money to get it down.
@@1000BT oh for Pete's sake, get it out of your head that there are backup sirens. The ones that are still standing ARE NOT backup sirens, they are just inactive and disconnected, left abandoned either because it's too expensive to remove them or they were forgotten about and don't cause any problems

That wind-down was pretty unified. Usually the wind-down is scattered.
it's because all of the sirens are really close together because the buildings block a lot of the sound from the sirens

No they're not, a good portion have been removed and sent into scrap or private collectors, but a decent number of them still remain
