Yep! I was a student at UC. You could hear it from campus, but if you were downtown it could floor you. I was downtown the first time I heard it, and being new to town from Cleveland had not a clue. I though Martians were going to land!
Honestly this is the one of the best and most beautiful siren ambiance I've ever heard. All the T bolts and that T bolt that's damaged made it sound just that much better.

Did Cincinnati have these types of sirens on April 3rd, 1974? For those who might not know that was the date of the "Super Outbreak" that continued until early in the morning of April 4th. There were 148 tornadoes that struck in about 18 hours of which 7 were F5s and 23 were F4s. Southern Ohio was hit especially hard where one F5 struck Xenia, who did NOT have tornado sirens. Uhh, that was corrected.
They definitely would have, as these 4/5 port thunderbolt 1000Ts were some of the earliest Thunderbolt sirens produced. I don’t know however if they used them for tornados or not back then, they may have just been for civil defense during the Cold War.

SirenDude1003 no. The thunderbolts are made with low sounds. But the FSTBolts aren't always made with low sounds. But the lower high sound is a FSTbolt. But the freaking high one is FS2001s
I can hear about three thunderbolts, I can hear the YMCA one (5/6), the 4/5 one with the broken rotator, and the High pitched thunderbolt 1000. The YMCA and the T'Bolt 1000 are both reverse wired.

These weren't used to warn about tornados, these were used to scare away the tornado.
