Sepultura is the greatest live show I have ever seen they opened for Ozzy in Shreveport Louisiana and they figuratively blew Ozzy off stage.
They also had the second hardest pit I ever participated in the first being Slayer.
Max never stopped putting on good shows. Just saw Soulfly last year and half the set was sepultura songs. Max def old now but still goes hard.
That fishing rod looking instrument is actually called a berimbau. It's used in capoeira to set the rhythm of the jenga (the dance).
Actually it’s not a dance my dude… capoeira is a martial art and can get very very violent.
@Shiva-_- I know what capoeira is. Practitioners of capoeira themselves call it the jenga or the dance because they practice to music and their movements flow in a dance like rhythm.

Great reaction. Max Cavalera first singer of sepultura pointed me out in the crowd one time and screamed right into my eyes- POWER OF DEATH! I was like 5 meters from the stage🤘Most metal moment in my life probably

Morning guys! Excellent choice! I love sepultura's and soul flys sounds! That thrashy Brazilian mix sound is badass! Max cavalera is a badass! He's still thrashing with soulfly. I was at the front of the stage last time they came here to play. I had lost my voice singing and screaming and hollering with them and the audience! It was friggin Kool!! This was last year and the year prior! I hope they come back to town again soon!!!! Love you guys!🙌🤓💯🤘

Max played a Brazilian musical instrument called Berimbau for the intro of 'Attitude'... it was track #2 on the 'Roots' album in 1996, which was the last record to feature Max Cavalera; he quit Sepultura after the band would not re-sign his wife Gloria as their manager.
The Ozzfest '96 performance was one of Max's last performances w/ Sepultura... he formed a new band in 1997 and eventually named it Soulfly... Sepultura hired American vocalist Derrick Green in 1998 and carried on w/ the album 'Against'.

For me,the new or uncomfortable thing I have tried recently is returning to college in my 40s. At first I was like oh hell I'm gonna be the oldest in my classes...untrue,I've met many people my age who also thought the same thing as I had. We laugh about it now...and the most uncomfortable new thing I've done thus far in class in my interviewing classes( I'm gonna work as a CADC human services worker),so I'll be interviewing different people for whatever job choice I choose to make after I graduate. And I have totally stepped out of my comfort zone( on purpose) because I suffer from social anxiety. I figured the best way to tackle that is jump right in. And it has been nerve wracking,but anything foreign and or new thing/experience could be anxiety provoking...but,I haven't given up and I'm making huge progress facing some of my anxiety "fears"...

In my opinion Sepultura can't really be categorized by genre! They have dipped their toe into everything from Black/Death metal, Groove metal, Nu-metal, some tribal stuff and of course Thrash!!

I feel like I remember reading in a magazine (probably Revolver or Metal Edge) that Max doesn't even bother putting the bottom 2 strings on his guitar since he never plays leads
That album this song is on came out the same year as this show. And ozzfest was the first and biggest metal festival.

Sepultura, in its prime, was one of the biggest names from Brazil. I grew in the 90's and even if you don't listen to metal, here you still would know who Sepultura is.

One of Max's fav albums is by Helmet. Max started to do Drop D tuning after said album a bit more.

Max tuned so low that he only had 4 strings on his guitar. He was way ahead of his time.
Also, listen to Igor's drumming. To put into perspective Sepultura were doing their thing before Pantera, and especially before they became Cowboys from Hell. Without Igor, I'm not sure Vinnie Paul nails that Pantera sound.
@@breag6936 Yeah, Sepultura were a part of early thrash and death metal. Bands like Prong, Pantera, White Zombie, Meshuggah, etc were starting to do groove metal in the early 90's, and then Sepultura went full groove metal with Chaos A.D., which influenced bands like Korn
Also because he broke the bottom 2 and bought alcohol instead of strings
The guitarists in Presidents of the United States of America played with a reduced number of strings and in the same era...
Probably not something to be that proud of, to be honest...

Ehh, Pantera had released 3 albums of glam/power metal before Sepultura even released their first album. And their 4th album sounds nothing like early Sepultura, not even close.

Great reaction to a fucking wicked song!!! I'm a fan of Sepultura, both the thrash and "nu metal" eras. Not gonna lie though. I've had trouble getting into anything they've done since Max (& later Igor) left. The replacements over the years are great players and I'm assuming great people, but those two were the heart and soul of that band. I mean, they started it in '84 as young teenagers.
Would love to see what you guys think of a Sepultura track from after Max left the band. Maybe Kairos, Isolation, Sepulnation or anything from the Metal Veins live album when they had like 16 extra drummers playing oil barrels
nation and a-lex are 2 of my favorite sepultura albums. i think the post-max sepultura is just as good, if not better.

There are 3 bands when I do strength training I listen to and they are all different styles of metal Sepultura, Meshuggah and Anaal Nathrakh its something with the drumming and vocal styles make you put extra effort in. I don’t know why it’s just these 3 specific bands it’s all controlled chaos I guess in different styles.

What a great day! Woke up to some sepultura! Gonna blast chaos AD at work now. Max also has cavalera conspiracies, nailbomb, soulfly, killer be killed, Igor cavalera has his own band too called cavalera, AND you cant for get maxs sons band go ahead and die. People say Cory Taylor is the busiest person in metal but he has nothing on max in my opinion.

In fact they are so respected in Thrash many have argued that the Big Four became the Big Five with Sep. Do you REALLY think that this music IN ANY WAY compares to Limp Wristit or Linkin Park?
