My dad is suffering dementia but one thing he never ever forgets and guess what that is lol Bermondsey as my family are from there also . I always call my dad the Bermondsey boy as it’s a special place in all our hearts . South London is so so special to us , superb video and How funny

Good of your parents to allow us to see their beautiful home. A lot of people will be tempted by this way of life, it shows you don't have to miss out on things that a traditional house would have. Loved the kitchen area, did I see running tap envy in your eyes. 😁 Shame your dad's guitar skills didn't pass onto you Charlie. Just imagine you could have serenaded Lauren every night as the sun went down.❤ Do you and Lauren ever borrow your parents campervan and travel around in it. Take care both of you.
So true Graham. Haha yes it was a little kick in the nuts turning the high powered tap on! Haha we were talking the other day saying I would really love to learn the guitar but I just never make time. We've been out in the camper van a few times but looking at getting our own before the end of the year!
The joys of filming! I've just posted my first videos on CZcams and was amazed at how long it takes to get them anywhere near right. So many takes and then I had to work out how to edit! Nice boat, I don't think I'd have a pump out, but she's beautifully fitted out. Thanks for the video

Good comprehensive walk through of your parents boat, it's very plush and well laid out. But I'm starting to miss Wanderer and it's simplicity and character. that's what really appeals to me. But Bermondsey Boy is chugging along close behind of my fanciable Narrowboats. Good job your Dad was from a respectable sounding place name of Bermondsey, I can't imagine what It might have been called. There is a place close to me called Minge Lane, but you wouldn't want to name a boat after that. With your Dad being a keen guitarist have you ever thought of using his music on your Vlogs. Funny outtakes, you should save them all up for a future outtakes Vlog. Take care both of you
Haha thanks a lot Graham! Definitely wouldn't want to have that sign written across the side of a 65ft narrowboat! I did think about it but unsure of the rules and regs on CZcams so for the time being just sticking with CZcams's free audio library to be safe.

Lovely walk through...... I have never even been on a narrow boat so I cannot speak from experience, but I personally think I would prefer a reverse layout. For me, most of the activity seems to be around the stern so I would prefer the galley/saloon at the back lol. Great vlog, thank you.

I very much like that layout! :) Boat Envy Intensifies :chuckles: One of the things that has so far kept us from taking the plunge (pun definitely intended :D) into narrowboat life is that both my missus and myself are international snoring all-stars :O. We tried for a couple of years to manage the problem but in the end gave up and sleep in separate rooms ... we would definitely need the same situation on a boat and, as your video shows, you really need a 65' boat to make that practical.

I was very impressed with the bathroom u could think u were in a hotel, as for ur dads drink store what a good ideal. How many solar panels does he have on his boat? Im getting so in grossed with ur vlogs they are so full of interesting things. And brilliant out takes and there was me thinking how good u were in front of the camera lol😂😂

Thanks so much Sue! There's is a 65ft semi traditional narrowboat. Not sure who built the boat, but if you search for 65ft semi traditional narrowboats they will be very similar.

Hey thanks a lot! No noisy at all. The boat community on the whole is pretty respectful and is a slow quiet life so I’ve never had any problems.

Hello, Really enjoying learning about the narrow boats, do you have a hole cut in your rudder and if so what shape is it? Also does Bermondsey Boy have a hole? Trying to find boats with hearts in the rudders as friends uncle is a boat builder and this was his signature! Thanks.

What would you say was the best knock of the two?...Narrowboating or vanlife? and what would you give as a general marks out of ten for both experiencies?... Which one do you prefer?
Cheer Barry, welcome aboard! I guess it depends on the level of your van/boat haha. We love our van because we can get around anywhere in the UK pretty quickly however the boat gives us more space and is more of a 'home'. Narrowboat life is much more peaceful and enjoyable being on the water that's for sure!
Hope you dont mind me asking but how much was your mum and dads boat? Really love your videos! Me and my boyfriend are considering buying one after uni now. Its inspired us to see other young people like yourself living in an alternative way. Thank you for your content 😀

Being a bloke from across the pond ....does the stern canopy have to be taken down continually when going under a bridge or tunnel?
Good question Steve, yes they generally just take it down when cruising to save fiddling around with it on the river.

I know I'm a year late, but... how much does the length of the boat limit travel? From what I've heard, many locks cannot accommodate boats that long.
My parents have never had a problem cruising in it. I think most locks are built for boats this size

No time soon, it would be a waste of money for us to buy a 65ft narrowboat and pay for a mooring we don't use for over half of the year. And not really, we love our small, simple living space. Also 'my Mrs' was the one who decided not to have a shower on the boat, but I agree she's a keeper.
