- This week we finally got to cruise down the river on our first narrowboat trip of the year, after the lockdown restrictions on the waterways were relaxed. ⛵️
With our engine on Wanderer still waiting to be repaired, we jumped on my parents 65ft narrowboat for a day trip and a picnic. 🥪

We've actually been part living with my parents for a number of reasons during lockdown. Thanks for the concern though.

Oh you two are just so lovely together. Just the most wonderful vlog that had everything with lovely people, laughs, weather, scenery, a picnic, and a beautiful boat As your own boat is usually plugged into the mains supply will battery power on your boat allow you to travel for several days before returning to your marina or can you only do short trips before returning. Ah thanks again Becky, glad you enjoyed it! Yes we could go for a while on our boat without electricity as it only really powers the TV so hopefully once the engine is fixed we'll be able to test it out haha.

Great vlog Charlie, I was bit intrigued by your Dad’s boat name, as I was born in Bermondsey and most of my family came from there, although I grew up mainly in Greenwich, and have lived in East Sussex for many years, but it was great to see Bermondsey Boy on a narrow boat , and the Nene looked superb! Thanks a lot Chris! Yes Dad's originally from Bermondsey and grew up there, however his father was in the RAF so they travelled around a lot. He's very proud of his boat and his upbringing though as you can tell by the sign writing haha. Thanks again for watching!
I lived in Bermondsey for a while, in an old warehouse on Abbey Street just off the Jamaica Road when there were still warehouses. Actually, that was just before I moved onto my boat which at first was moored at the South Dock in Rotherhithe. Good times.

Such a wonderful Vlog as always. I bet that felt good, perfect weather, perfect scenery and above all perfect company. Such a lovely spot for a romantic picnic with yourself and Lauren. Your parents have such a beautiful boat, it looks huge. I was very impressed with your dad's boat skills. I was a little apprehensive when Lauren took the tiller but she probably did better than I would. @@CharliePauly Thanks, I am sure it is! Will see when we are actually allowed off the Isle of Man, we haven't had any new coronavirus cases for 16 days, but we are still on a stricter lockdown than most places! But we are glad you can now start taking trips in the UK!

Must of the really groovy to be back out on the canals. You guys looked like you had a great time, but then you two always seem like your having a great time. Question for you two: I never see one of those little BBQ's on the stern railing any narrowboats. Why is that? Here in the States, BBQ's and boating go hand and hand.
Haha it was definitely a blast to get back on the water! That's true, we do have bbq's over here on the boats but maybe we're just not as big on it as the Americans are. Plus we have our little kitchen set up inside haha.

Nothing yet Graham, we've got a guy fitting our water pump tomorrow so that's one big job done, and then our safety certificate is due the next day. Hopefully once that's out of the way we can concentrate on the engine! We had it running when we bought it but just need the oil leak fixing.

I hope I'm not mad but is that an old guitar that your dad uses as a seat at the back of the boat. I know that your parents have a guitar hung up, can either of them play and if so has this skill been passed on to you Charlie. Have you decided the route for Wanderer's maiden voyage. Take care
Haha good spot Graham! It is indeed an old guitar that he turned into a cruising seat. My dad's very good at playing, however I've never picked one up! Something to look forward to though - I recorded a tour of their 65ft narrowboat which is going live in 10 minutes. And no haha we haven't even thought about that yet, once the engine is finally fixed we'll start looking into it.
What a perfect day. What are the limits of navigation where you are ? Can u get out to the Norfolk Broads ? Also are there any low bridges around ? I'm a new subscriber thanks v much.
Not a bad start to the summer! I'm pretty sure we can get to the Norfolk Broads however unsure about the low bridges, we're pretty new to the circuit but if/when we find them they'll be on the vlogs haha.

Sorry I forgot to say in my last post that I'm very impressed with your Instagram and very much encourage others to check it out. What is the top speed of your parents boat. Will it be able to keep up with Wanderer's rather impressive 4mph the times both boats go out together. When you went on the river did you pass by the Marina with Wanderer in or did you go the opposite way up the river. Take care both of you
