    ¡Buenos días! Twenty-one weeks from today, my husband Jorge, our happy, handsome Golden Retriever mix named Buddy, and I (Jody in English, Pepe in Spanish) :-) will climb.into Jorge’s CR-V and drive from Dallas, Texas, to Querétaro City to commence a new phase of our life together. Jorge is originally from Puebla City … I’ve been a Dallas boy for 67 years. Jorge and I have been together for almost 30 years … finally got married in March of this year :-) … we are both retired teachers. We will rent a home in the lovely community of Zibatá, about 20 minutes north of the central historic district. Super excited about the move! We love Querétaro City … in fact, we love the whole state of Querétaro. We aim to do volunteer work and, for me, it will be a joy to speak Spanish daily with my Mexican brethren. I started to study Spanish when I was ten years old … simply because I wanted to have Mexican friends … to be accepted by them … and now I will live in the country of the people I admire so much. ¡La vida es buena! ¡Saludos from Jody (Pepe) Quillian! :-)

      Mérida has so many of the same draws as Querétaro! I think the biggest differences are Querétaro is nowhere near the ocean, high altitude, more mild weather, right in the center of the draws of central Mexico (including near Mexico City). Mérida is hot and humid, greener, near the beach, cenotes, and Mayan culture. They're both fantastic options but the weather is what tips the scale for Querétaro to us.

    Hi what do you think of using a wifi hotspot? I’m from Los Angeles and I’m currently in Zacatecas in a small pueblo but the wifi is horrible here there’s no fiber optics. I’m planning on studying coding so I’d need good wifi

      If you're in a small town with a poor internet connection I would suggest getting a wifi hotspot. I've heard Telmex has good prices!

    • @sergtana
      @sergtana  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi! Yes, Centro histórico is very walkable although, if you do not plan on having to move around too much, other neighborhoods such as Alamos might be good too since it's central so Uber would be cheap to go anywhere and it also has most things you need within the neighborhood.
      Cost of living in mexico city is honestly more expensive because of rent. The rest is basically the same and there are even some things that are cheaper. Of course, there are nicer restaurants in mexico city so if you compare those to regular ones in Querétaro it'll seem more expensive.

    Querétaro is a place for expats who want to remain in their comfort zone and no desire to learn Spanish. I’ve always lived throughout Mexico in areas with less expats.
    I will say that I stayed in Morelia Michoacán, although it was cheaper but it wasn’t safe.

    • @sergtana

    I’ve done the math, you definitely need an American salary to live in these neighborhoods. Would you recommend some remote jobs? Here in California $14 an hour goes a long way in Queretaro

    • @sergtana
      @sergtana  Před 2 lety +2

      Easily well over 95% of residents in these neighborhoods are not foreigners so I don't think it's true that you need an American salary as hardly anyone here earns a US salary. As for remote jobs: czcams.com/video/dGwxTl2r1VQ/video.html
