Hello sir, ive been thinking of studying to become Elavatot expert, do you need to have technical interest to become one?

Did he make good money?

Salute to all the Elevator Installers. I worked with a guy who did it , definitely looks like it takes a lot of skill and hard work
As an elevator installer, you did a great job detailing the work involved. Also, good job using the correct terminology for the components. There are a lot!
Do you rely on electrcians trade for the electrical part, or do ya'll do that as well?
@@Posibrian electricians normally run the wiring to the pit as well as fire, smoke, shunt trip and supply the power going to the machine room for the controller. They are also needed for the inspection in order to reset the breaker panel from the building at which the elevator is being installed in during the elevator inspection. Fire service companies also play a part in some of the work.
@@ten94tuner You hit it on the head Patrick. @Brian Barrett Elevator wiring between the elevator controller and the elevator control circuits are performed by the elevator installer. Electric from the building is supplied by the electrician under his license.

This is what I think of when I read about a satisfying video. Everything being done perfectly to the letter to provide the best possible service and lifespans of both product and costumer. I think the branding and inspection certificates should be framed at eye-level just to show to everyone "This is how engineering is done and this company is who to thank for it."
This is the most detailed video of a hydraulic elevator installation & the brand of that elevator is thyssenkrupp.
Highwayelevators I believe Island is a TK distributor
Ih8escalators - yeah as that pump is a Thyssenkrupp and the piston as well. Thyssenkrupp is still a good brand.

My Dad was an elevator constructor for over 30 years. It’s a very interesting job. I remember he would come home really dirty. He also did a lot of fixing of elevators too. He retired from being an elevator constructor a few years ago, and now he works as an elevator inspector. Being an inspector is interesting too. Instead of you working working on the elevators, you get to watch other people work on the elevator. There’s a lot of testing of equipment when you’re an elevator inspector.

Greetings from Egypt 🇪🇬👋👋👋
It's a great video of the installation from the start to finish, very detailed as to every aspect. If I recall correctly, this is a telescopic hydraulic elevator installation with two cylinders and pistons at the side of the cab. I only saw one output pipe on the power unit, it is parallel piped to the cylinders?
This type of elevator is referred to as a Twin Post because it has two (twin) pistons, one on either side of the elevator to lift it. Not all twin posts are telescopic (multiple staged piston). Some are single stage, just a one piece piston. The amount of rise (height of shaft) determine which is needed. I couldn't tell for sure, but I think this is a single stage piston.
For the hydraulic oil line, a single pipe connect the two pistons in the pit, then we run one line from that pipe to the tank.
a lot of gum was chewed during the making of this video
Haha. Good pick-up. Better than smoking at least

You can tell the apprentice wired the car top without the mechanic watching him. 8:42 Used greenfield to connect all the devices on the car top. While the greenfield runs do look shorter then the max allowed length, the car top has split levels, so its possible to pull the greenfield out of a connector or break it if you step on it due it not sitting completely flat on the car top. We usually either use EMT conduit if we want it to look fancy, or just run a 2x4 square duct across the whole top of the car front to back and come out of that with short pieces of greenfield thus making it much harder to damage if its accidentally stepped on.
Nitpicks aside good video. Nice to see someone take the time to use all the correct terminology.
Thanks NinjaShoes. There are many ways to skin a cat. We went with code-compliant flexible conduit strapped frequently in order to prevent accidental damage.
That's a shit cartoon installation. I would send you to the shop for that.

Does Island Elevator use ThyssenKrupp fixtures?
I was Otis service engineer in London England for 30+years and for your American audience I serviced the lifts as we call them in England in Buckingham Palace
Yes lift shafts and all its equipment is inspected quite often depending upon the maintenance schedule by the lift company also once a year by the insurance inspector
Easy breezy.
When can I start working as a lift/elevator builder?
Union apprenticeships just opened in january in 2 states
Google your local union number. It'll be IUEC and whatever number hall covers your area. Go to their website and follow the links to the information about the Apprenticeship Drives. The drive is generally only open part of the year. It's a very competitive selection process, but absolutely worth it. Just... Don't sign on with a non union company. You will be taken advantage of and under paid thoroughly.
Easy breezy? This video doesn't shed any light on the manufactures faults and need for constant fab work on shit that's supposed to just (bolt together) It can get pretty stressful.
Thyssen elevators go in like Legos a Mitsubishi elevator is usually has a bunch of fabrication required
Wow look at the OSHA certified barricade , at least it looks like 42 inches on the top .:)

I’m active duty usmc I was looking at this profession when getting out. Does any elevator installer have any tips?
Not sure how it is in the us I'm a aussie installer, get used to reading measurements very accurately, when adjusting to a measurement don't pretend it's good if it's out by half a millimetre you need to get it right or it will be alot more work later. Buy some decent hand tools to start and if you need to borrow a tool off your trainer more than once you need to buy it.
@@kyeattard7187 thanks mate
Learn to read a tape measure if you don’t already know. And be familiar with hand tools and power tools.

Johnny you should be wearing fall protection on that platform ,,. just saying. good Job Chris .
Thanks Brian. Platform was on the springs, power off (LOTO). Always Safety First!
6:15 Cheat! He is standing on the platform to install the saddle. I always had to do it kneeling in front of the open shaft. I rarely had a platform to work off of. But really that's the easy way to do it. :) :)
I usually had only 1/8 tolerance for clearance to the platform. I had to get special ok for anything more, because of out of plumb shaft.
I had one building in Man. near Grand Central, that one stack of rails was out of plumb out of 6. They blamed me, but I was able to prove their rails were out. The elevator guys had to make do. It was 1/2" out at the 2nd floor. The marble guys were not happy. In the end, it was ok, but just barely. A lot of fiddling with every little bit. Everything from platform to rails to bucks had to be adjusted.
This was one of the best videos of a typical elevator that I have seen.
Btw, you always know a real elevator mechanic, because he uses an 8' wood folding ruler. 8:17 :) :)
Hey, I was thinking about becoming an elevator mechanic and was wondering how I could become one. Also I was wondering if you would suggest going into that career or not?
@@danduman7245 Try to get in the union near you. It's important to become an apprentice and learn the trade. Contact some elevator companies near you. The bigger the city near you the better. Elevator guys also do escalators, lots of guys specialize in one or the other.

Hi sir I’m working in lift technician at Chennai
@3:10 Hey I am here with Chris GutKiss, president of Violent elevator. Wtf?=!
hydraulic lifts are not as cool as traction. It's my understanding hydraulic is often used for less than 6 floors, anything more and it's getting to be a very long hydraulic piston. Are there any major advantages to hydraulic over traction? I know they are usually much slower than traction, and the cylinders can eventually leak hydraulic oil into the ground and run low on fluid, leading to a fun spongey ride at the top floor as the pump starts to suck air. Typical traction lifts need a motor room above the shaft, but there's machine room less varieties too. Traction lifts rely on a break on the motor to keep the car from falling up as the counterweight is heavier than the car. I guess they both have their place, but surfing a hydraulic looks to be a lot less interesting than a high rise traction with the counter weight passing by. Though the hydraulic at the apartment that my dad lived at almost sounded like a monster stuck in the pit. kind of spooky and cool
Late reply but hydraulic lifts are usually cheaper and a faster install time. you also need less depth for your pit bellow the lift the downside is noise from the pump. Hydraulic lifts are more suited to smaller lifts that arnt working constantly when being used alot the viscosity of the oil can give you leveling issues
@@kyeattard7187My apartment uses roped hydrolic for 18 and 33 floors tall?

How much does an elevator installation cost?
That's similar to asking how much a car costs. An economy car might be $25k, and a Bugatti might be in the millions. The price varies vary widely, depending on method of drive, height, features, geographical area of installation, etc. Just roughly, a small, basic elevator might be in the neighborhood of 50k, while a tall, high speed, high specification elevator could be in the hundreds of thousand$.

Hi, I live in a condo in Florida. The condo has 7 floors and two elevators. We are having problems with one of our elevators. It seems to be temperamental in closing. It starts to close and then opens. It will do this twice until it finally closes. It will start moving after it closes. However, sometimes it will close and not move. I will hit the "door open" button and take the stairs!! I had spoken to a man who was here working on it. He told me that the scanner wasn't working and that we needed a part. I told our condo president this, but she had not answered me.
It could be something simple as just cleaning the door track
