  • DIRTY DIRTY old armor single speed elevator that wasn't leveling properly. Changed out the up stop switch which is what tells the when to stop in the up direction. Thought it would be neat to put together some clips from my cell phone and make it a youtube video. Enjoy.

    I do industrial refrigeration and have a neighbor who works on elevators. As a service tech I thought, “I wonder if there’s any elevator tech channels like there are refrigeration tech channels... 🤔” and, here we have it! Much respect man 🤙 These are brain busting trades. You got balls to be messing with work inside an elevator shaft, brah... But, I guess that’s what they say about us ammonia techs 🤘I’m gonna go ahead and subscribe 👍

      @@MQElevators; Yeah, you guys out there posting what you do is amazing for these industries. It’s tough with what I do working on ammonia refrigeration systems because of liability and customers not wanting their facilities put on blast... I’d love to start a channel that deals with only ammonia, but I’m not sure how I’d go about it. There are a couple dudes that upload some stuff, but anyway. Great work, buddy. Again, much respect.

    To be an elevator tech, how savy do you need to be?
    Just basic wire splices, metal shaving/filing and troubleshooting smart?
    Smarter, like applying seals & sheet metal/welding/more advanced stuff?

Ive recently become a elevator mechanic in training, ive took the first job that came my way which was working in the field of residential elevators, but my goal is to work servicing commercial elevators. Could you guide me with any information to be part of that field or the requirements and the path that you took. Much appreciated.

      I think the first thing you should do is make sure you are working with licensed mechanics, in my region you do not need to be licensed to install residential elevators. If there is no licensed mechanics you probably will have a hard time getting an apprentice ship started. Hope this helps.

I have a few years in industrial maintenance and currently work in a large steel press facility. I see the union is accepting apprentices currently into the trade. It’s a good hour plus drive daily to the location, but the money is pretty enticing. I understand it’s a bit less while going through the training period. Just always good to get insight from those inside.

      I can only speak for here in Canada but I do believe it’s pretty universal. It is not a red seal trade yet, meaning your licence doesn’t transfer from province to province but I know guys who have successfully challenged the exam in other provinces. Equipment would be the same for the most part and the tools as well. I think you should seriously consider taken the position, not sure if you’re in the states but maybe someone can add to this response.

    Hi, Are u still here? I'm a new immigrant in USA. I wanna ask u if i became a mechanic elevator, Will i work outside my city? i hear many mechanic elevators go to them work outside them city and live outside them home and some of them work 10-12 hours each 4 days and 3 days off to go back to hia home! So i don't like this i wanna go to my home at night, Is this available?

    • @MQElevators
      @MQElevators  Před 3 lety +1

      In my area you generally stay within close proximity to your city, if you get into the union you usually wouldn't go into another local. I'm sure there are exceptions but it would be uncommon I think.
