#MK1 #MortalKombat #MortalKombat1 - Hry
Every major esports game does crowd funding. Why can’t NetherRealm/WB?
Because they are brain-dead. It’s such a no-brainer - it blows my mind it hasn’t been implemented since MKX.
I believe there trying to use mk1 to pay off a lot the debt they got themselves in for all the money they spent in other departments including games
The lack of content and problems this game has is really killing this game for all sides of the community pros and casuals
Thanks for talking about this. I see a lot of casual MK fans basically shrugging and telling competitive players to shut up and play the game. So this video is definitely needed to bring more awareness to the community.
I think it’s completely understandable for pro players to move toward content creation. Rewind getting $350 for placing 5th at ECT is beyond sad and the prize pool has been decreasing since Injustice 2. I think it’s clear that WB is doing this because they view investing in the competitive scene as a waste of money and the casual market is the only market that matters. Which they aren’t wrong to a certain point. The casual market is absolutely where majority of their profit is, but the competitive scene keeps the game alive after the casuals and WB abandon the game. I mean shit, it’s basically _free promotion._ As you said in the video, the pro scene plays a huge part in the game’s success and more need to come to that realization.
It also has a downside as well letting pros have the final say in basically everything.
This really doesn’t have anything to do with “letting the pros have the final say in everything”. Not only that, but it wouldn’t lead to it either. NRS and WB have shown time and time again that they take generally everyone’s opinions into consideration whenever they decide to actually show that they care. And majority of the time, it’s the opinions of the casual players they listen to the most since they’re unimaginably larger than the competitive side. So they’re obviously going to listen to the side that makes them more money at the end of the day instead of the other.
That’s why it’s important for more casual players to take note of this and help by voicing their support for the pro and competitive players’ grievances.
@@datankle7519 since when have they showed that they cared or listened to the casuals exactly? Give me a list of good examples of this.
@@gabrieltejada1697 I mean.. highly requested DLC characters? Like Mileena, Spawn, Rain, etc.
Custom variations in ranked with MK11.
Pinned moves in MK1.
Basically any changes/fixes or additions to single player content in MK1.
Since multiple pro and competitive players have stated already they don’t really care about Invasions or whatever little single player content there is, the only people that are logically and rightfully going to complain are the casual fan base.
@@gabrieltejada1697 And to clarify, I think they really have been terrible when it comes to addressing problems And rectifying them with the current title. At least not fast enough or well enough in general. The premium store bullshit being a prime example of that. I just think that it is unreliable/not debatable that WB takes the casual consumer’s perspective a bit more seriously than a competitive player’s.
I think it’s two things:
1. Prize pool beings so low makes it hard to attend and have it not be a waste of money (as you said in the video). There needs to be a way to crowdfund the pro tour at the very least like in MKX.
2. Both players don’t really have a character they vibe with. Deoxys dropped Nitara like a bad habit and Ninja didnt really have a main to begin with. If they had main that they can have a lot of fun with they would be steaming more frequently and be playing in online tournaments.
No, it's one thing:
No fighting game can survive scrubs being able to do 50% damage combos after practicing one day. Other fighting games have tight link windows, difficult inputs and defensive options to keep their games from turning in to a scrub circus.
@@similaritiesendherethat’s why mk is so fun to me… don’t have to spend so damn long to play competently. And really combos are such a small part of the game anyways.. I can do combos fine but top level players don’t have to deal with scrubs… cause they can’t even compete with top? But I’ve really only played mk so idk what I’m talking about compared to other fighting games haha
@@derekwhite4312 That's also why NRS games die so fast. Does the Tekken 8 beta still have 2-3x as many players your whole game?
MK11 has more people online right now than MK1 and that's after the last MK (Fisher Price: My First Fighting Game) fanboy finally admitted that MK11 actually sucked.
@@similaritiesendhere I don't get what you mean by the last sentence. Who you talking about? Wanna know more about the story I'm interested.
@@Iqzzy-KO I misunderstood your comment. It's not really a story. More like an analysis of facts.
MK11 current online player count: 3,717
MK1 current online player count: 2,787
MK11 was essentially dead until people tried MK1. Here's another interesting fact: MK1 outsold SF6 by a lot but...
SF6 current online player count: 13,665
... but SF6 has 4 times as many players.
Next time you hear someone say that MK1 is a good game, just remember that's it's so good that people went back to a game most MK fans grew to hate. MK1 is losing players 4 times faster than MK11 did after release. It took MK11 4-5 months as many players as MK1.
The Cameo system is killing this game. 1v1 or even tag team could've probably kept this game alive
The game is slowly falling into obscurity in general
The only thing to do after you complete the story and invasion is play online and even that can get a little boring after a few hours straight.
It already has
lol no
@@MrLachapellhaha this game has failed on every level, keep coping and keep paying for your 10 dollar skins
I think mk1 would be in a completely different position with more content. We would have shit to say about the bugs and infinites for sure, but the hate for the game would be easily fixed with more content. I can say my experience hasn't been as dreadful as others. That might just be because i took my first competitive run in mk1 and fucking smashed it. Without that motivation, idk if I'd still be playing tbh.
I watched a video foxy grampa put out the other week that talked about this exact thing. He basically said competing at offline tournaments doesnt pay you enough money to make it a career where as streaming amd making youtube videos does.
its so sad having this happen to mk1 but everything is deserved.
super jealous... im on the east coast freezing my ass off and the weather in this video is making me more irritated...
These problems jus dnt stop. Just more n more problems stacking
Hopefully the next MK game in the future brings back MKX gameplay style. Still my favorite mortal kombat game in the franchise.
They need to fix Sareena if you read your opponent and jump over both their fighter and Sareena and start a punish her blades will still somehow interrupt your punish on return even tho you're behind both characters giving your opponent a free full punish for their misplay. It's bs and has cost me a lot of matches
There’s literally no content, no skins, invasions is the wackiest most Grindy bullshit ever lol and as a casual player I hop on and get taken out with 2 combos by people using the same kameos and characters
As an off-line player, NRS/WB can't even get Character intros right? What I mean is there are So many Gr8 Character intros, but they Only work if you play online? Mk11 intros were for everyone to enjoy regardless how you played! Surly they must know that us non online players are into the Character intros probably more than the pro players that mostly would skip the intros to get playing? Iv got Van-Dam likenesses but he's mute again because I don't play online! So there's No point of me buying dlc characters if I'm only getting half the product on offer! Off topic Sorry!
Awesome video
Also the community in the competitive scene would have been OK with that $12 fatality if it was meant to crowd fund the pro series.
I would’ve bought it for that reason.
But since it was for nothing, I passed.
The game is boring. I play online and that’s bout it. I find the rest to be very boring. It lags all the time for PC, the jump between 30 and 60 FPS is horrendous. Say what you want, but MK11 Is still top tier compared to MK1
MK11 was amazing, except for the gameplay. Now they nailed the gameplay and stripping out all the features of MK11. It is sad.
MK 1 is a mediocre game
Sad but truth
Something that has always confused me is why people even approach the competitive scene with the mindset of making a living off of it. It just doesn't make any logical sense to me. Why wouldn't you do both competing and content creation? That's what people like Riddles do and he's like top 15 in the world in SSBU. Doing this allows you to not only secure the bag but also still scratch that competitive itch for wanting prove that you're the best.
Being the best in anything is a huge commitment. Splitting your time between training and content creation imo will always be a sacrifice to both. To some degree at least
Good luck making MK content creation with the lack of crossplay and insane lack of play-types in the game in general.
Valid point and a big factor, but the game is also sorely lacking in content and the compelling depth it once had or could have.
No matter where you go you only hear bad things about the new mk1, I'm glad I deleted it from my hard drive! and I've been playing MK since day 1!
I really hate to say it but I really do not enjoy MK1. I’ve been a massive MK fan since Deadly Alliance and I never thought I would see the day where I genuinely dislike an entry in the series. The game charges $70 for a game with less features and content than MK11 and that’s not including the DLC fighters where they used to come with alternate Skins for other fighters. I also don’t like the Kameo fighters. It’s just not MK to me and it sucks that it’s the main feature of the gameplay. MK should always be 1v1 with bonus features like Tag team or test your luck. Those were way more fun IMO.
This game is trash and that’s why they don’t care
Its crazy how some of the same people that were begging for this game to release this year are now complaining about it and dropping the game.
i wonder if people abandoning the game has anything to do with the rampant 50-60% braindead dmg the characters do, or maybe its the dog water netcode? it could just be the fact that the game is a broken unbalanced mess. Hmmm.... ya know, it might be also the lack of basic features other fighting games have that are simply just missing. In all seriousness, we all know it's because the game was rushed because WB needed to make a quick buck and they figured destroying the consumer experience by using them as beta testers was the least damaging.
all facts game sucks. Its not "intuitive" or "creative" lmao its busted for the sake of being busted like an OLD mk game. Couldnt think of any new ideas or characters its all made so that when you hear smoke say ".... Hanzo Hasashi" you're supposed to go "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH YOOOOOOO THATS A MK THING THIS IS SO KEEEWWWLLL"
Thise guys better off being content creators and they will be appreciated more than doin offline tourneys where nrs barely incentizise them . On top of rhe favt the community can donate to them more than nrs would also . Basically the fgc is online untol companies like nrs makes it worthwhile to sweat in them offlines
Tbh I'd be down to buy skin packs like with mkx that helps fund the eSports part of mk but I doubt they'll end up doing that in the end anyway
Raider nation I didn't know u was gang Brusk
This doesn't really surprise me at all. Like MK11, MK1 was overhyped and filled with problems. Im glad i skipped this game because I feel like NRS just don't have enough passion or care for the MK franchise.
You're only noticing now that the upper 1% are saying it. Mk1 is a mobile game with no content that you paid full price for.
Broken game and kameos suck. It's useless.
The pro scene scared all the casuals away getting thrashed in Kombat League.
I’m having way more fun on mk1 than mk11. That game was horrible, biggest noob centered game I ever played. Can’t get away with poke mashing and grabs and jump ins with crushing blow crap anymore 😂
whats worse, a game where you have to work around eachothers krushing blows and pokes with shorter combos, or where anyonr can do two hit string, ex special and hit the cyrax button for 40 percent with no effort as they eat spoons of mayonase?
Cyrax been patched and your getting 40 percent crushing blows on 11 easily. Not to mention endless amounts of wake up options on 11. And combos on 11 are so brain dead easy I'm sure you could eat spoons of mayonase while doing them. Shorter combos is very brain dead. Get on there and learn everything about the character in 10 minutes, dull and catered to noobs so heavily.
I've been put off from the game just because of how they are monetizing the content. If this is the direction the game is going, I'll play it when there's an ultimate edition available around Black Friday
Free Starbucks advertising in this video:)
hes going for a brisk walk
I’ve been enjoying MK1, and really enjoying what Destroyer has been doing with COTR
LOOK EVERYONE THIS GUY IS HAVING FUN. THIS ONE DUDE THINKS THE GAME IS PERFECT
@@llamabot9889 ain’t say all that just said it’s fun
@@llamabot9889or like, he really enjoys it. I def feel the same, I love the kameo system, I think WB has done a poor job launching this one, holding the DLC for nearly a whole year, the premium store, the netcode, lack of cross play. I feel for NRS.
Kinda like the vlogs lol
If they drop it so be it, i wouldnt care if mk1 dies off. Nrs deserves the downfall
Who cares about the opinions of pro players? WE don't by the game to play in tournaments because most of us have actual jobs
Who would have thought that binging a game for hundreds of hours in a few weeks would would lead to fatigue with a game. Streaming and "content creating" is such a cancer to gaming. Even if its a game you love, youre going to start to find things you resent aftet 100s of hours in a short time.
Why can’t we ever just get a game we love n enjoy from day 1 lol shit sad man. Something always gotta be wrong
In conclusion, Warner Bros is broke since putting their company on sale/merger and can’t fund the tourney event (hell, they probably can’t fund development studios, like NRS and Rocksteady, like they used to). Tbh I just feel like they don’t care about gaming anymore and just want to focus on their other ventures more.
I enjoy the game but I really think the issue as a whole is that this game wasn't supposed to be out yet. Didn't they want to make Injustice 3 first? Not sure. It jsit feels like demand forced them to jump the gun. Like I said, I enjoy it for the most part but I totally get all the issues.
Mortal Kombat 1 should rather work on obscure characters like hsu hao to fan favorite
I don't think you should reward losing
Tekken 8 is gonna be better than both st6 and mk1 just wait and you'll see
who are you gonna main in Tekken 8 ?
Beta already was
@@tobi8445 maybe azucena
All T8 needs to squash SF6 is a good netcode tbh
i've never played a single tekken game and yeah it probably will be better
People like sindel goro less good tanya bad characters that are good to be there but are wasted by making them side characters main story just like 11 good then bad.
I"m sad to see so many people feel that way about MK1. I personally LOVE Mortal Kombat 1! It's fun and has a lot of potential.
P.S.: I'd love to see crowdfunding content in MK1.
RAIDER NATION!!!
I don't put hours into the game to get good at it to make money. I put hours into the game because it's my fighting franchise.
Yeah same here I’ve played since the very beginning in the 90s! Love the game but only hurts more about the bugs, lack of content and worse of all the monetization prices
@derekwhite4312 at the end of the day, I'll suffer through it. This is my jam. Even if I'm never going to be a pro, round 1 fight 4 life.
@icannotabide If you're having fun that's cool. But you and the millions of others who "suffer through it". Yall are a big part of the reason why the higher-ups do snake shit. They know there will always be people who tolerate bs. On top of giving them playership stats and money 😂
@ForeverMG right. Okay...I'm part the reason. I think you completely misunderstood what I said and the whole point of what I said. But that's okay. I'm not smug about the game, nor am I a little nether realm fanboy. Mortal Kombat has been my game since I was 6. It's what I like. It does NOT make me part of the problem. They shouldn't have released the game this quarter. It's that simple.
@icannotabide No, I understood you fine. I never called you a fanboy so I don't know why you mentioned that. You claim you've been a fan of mk since you were 6. Cool....I've been a fan since I was 5 and have mk content on my channel. That doesn't mean I should tolerate or buy into the bs they're trying to sell these days. You just said MK1 shouldn't have been released this quarter. Which is true, but you're still willing to "suffer through" a game that is not worth the price. Since that's the case, I hope you continue to enjoy it 👍🏻
mk1 5ucks
Who cares? People will ALWAYS find something to bitch about. Why should I care how a pro feels about a game? I still play it, that's all I care about.
I already deleted the game!
Pros wouldnt be bored with the game and dropping it if "the core gameplay was amazing" like all you shills insist. But again, I dont expect people whose channels depend on the success of MK to be honest about it. Just so people inside the MK fanboy bubble understand, the "core gameplay" is not amazing, its exploitative. Fun for people on offense ROFLSTOMPING people, and by far and away the worst fighting game on the market when it comes to defending against said offense. Meaning, THE GAME IS ONLY FUN WHEN YOU ARE WINNING, which is objectively not good balance or design. And youll be hard pressed to find a game that isnt fucking fun when you are winning. So im not sure how that makes the "core gameplay of MK1 amazing"
lmao you leaned hard into the winning stance but I agree with the stance of the gameplay being sub par. Its neat to do some juggles like, i get it. But it doesnt feel like an exchange in a real match is earned by a "better" player idk how to describe it. Just cuz they made it a 5 year old can do 40 percent combos doesnt mean its "sooo creative and free oooo". Not that every fighting game needs to be this completely solvable equation, but the game literally feels like a course correction after ACTUAL casuals stopped playing 11 cuz it "didnt have the chombos"
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The game flat out sucks this year. Kameos suck. That's why people are dropping this game.
Then don’t play it
@@bentubbs104 I don't. I'm telling you why OTHERS don't play it. It's because this version of MK sucks. Kameos suck.
@@JasonNortwich Don't you just love the idiots who say "then don't play it". Even when that response doesn't make sense. I've heard that one many times and I didn't even buy MK1 😂
Meat ride a different game dawg

who cares
@@jjasukahe probably should. It's pathetic 😂😂😂
The “extra content outside of the gameplay side” is not for anyone
ninjakilla not feeling it because he lost rip, that face he had at ect, man wasn't having it 🥺 jokes aside, it's ROI. what does esports give back to them? maybe it's been less supported since X because it's been proven to them that they're not getting what they expect back?
I'm sure mk 1 will get like a sfv redemption arc we just have to wait and see
Hard to do when Warner Bros forces them to work on the next game
Don't compare Capcom to WB Games, not even in the same league at all. Capcom has a legacy of good games and WB canceled their own game Multiversus after 5 months haha
The same capcom who is charging 25 dollars for avatar skins in sf 6 😂
@@llamabot9889 I didn't compare the two companies to one another and also Capcom isn't perfect either
Let’s hope. Omni man is Thursday, I bet people will be playing it a ton this week. They just need more consistent content because the gameplay is seriously fun.
