This seems to be a WB thing and not an NRS thing. MK1 came out way earlier than it was supposed to, and recently WB games has been doing harsh microtransactions on all of their titles.

They’re the reason why the skins we see from the story mode will most likely be something we have to pay for. they are the reason why mk1 most likely won’t be supported after two years

This game has the toxicitiy of WB written all over it. We all know that they are in shambles as a company. I love MK1, but it's blatantly obvious that WB FORCED the devs to release this game at least six months early. Not only is there a lack of content upon release compared to other NRS games, but the game didn't even release in the same quarter as previous NRS titles. You can absolutely tell that this game was meant for a 2024 release. Also, they are milking it with ridiculously expensive add ons and lack of support for the MK Pro Competition. I feel bad for NRS because they are taking the brunt of the backlash, when I know it's not 100% their fault.
The game is rushed, unfinished and on top of that the companies behind it are greedy. Its time we speak with our wallets. Im tired of these sellout youtubers that kiss ass and dont speak about these things. Thanks for speaking up about

In a way, I'm not really surprised because WB also forced Shadow of War to have microtransactions to complete the last chapter in the release. So this is definitely not the developer is the publisher.
Keep in mind the game is not even complete so selling a fatality for that price instead of giving it free for everyone for the inconvenience is definitely unacceptable

I wouldn’t care if they gave us more routes to grind out dragon crystals or an ability to earn these costumes in the upcoming events. I think the Premium shop is fine as an early drop for people who want to pay or grind out the game but eventually like a month later the skins should come out of the shop and put into the shrine or in invasion rewards. If this is their plan they should make that public so that way those who spend money know they are doing it to access this content quicker and don’t feel scammed

I was a huge fan of Mk11 and i was really looking forward for the next game but it broke my heart when it wasn’t available for ps4 😞
To be fair, this game would be shit on PS4. And we're 3 years deep into this generation of consoles, there's no reason for game developers to still be making games for the previous generation consoles. This would be like a game that came out in 2005 coming out for both the GameCube AND the Nintendo 64, or like in 2009 a game coming out for both PS3 and PS2... like we're almost 4 years into this current console gen... there's absolutely no reason for them to still be making games for previous gen this far into the current gen. Makes no sense to be mad at them for that.

a $70 fighting game should not have this type of shop, they make majority of microtransactions through kombat packs. their is no reason we should be paying $12 for a universal fatality when a kombat pack contains 3-4 characters to the roster with their own moves and they’re own fatalities for $15. an update like this after the launch of the game should be free especially for the poor performance on pc but instead WB thinks time is better spent on an item shop. just sad to see this happen to such an amazing game

IT HAS BEGUN!!...the FPS pricing structure is invading fighting games. I knew it was only a matter of time. This has been going on for a long time in games like Apex Legends, where a character skin, A CHARACTER SKIN!, is $20. And this is a FPS, so you won't even be able to see your costume in gameplay, only in the selection screen. I think WB saw what EA is doing and said: "oh, no fair, look at all the money EA is making"

This is an on going problem with extra content. As dlc steadily creeps up to $50 when it used to be $20 as a premium. Now we are looking at $12 fatalities & $10 skins. You can blame WB, but NRS is still in charge of making a ton of mistakes with the game itself so they arent off the hook. Sad part is that the microtransactions are gonna make alot of money so I doubt this practice is stopping anytime soon. Look at SF6 with the avatar items instead of character outfits.

I think the only solution to all this is to not buy shady stuff they put out in the game, or convince Netherrealm to leave WB and make the game on their own terms with their full freedom. Or at least have them be bought out by a publisher that actually cares about the consumer.
I'm sick and tired of video games releasing with next to no content and then a shit ton of micro transactions. I don't mind the Kombat Packs and the aftermath story expansion, but something like a fatality and seasonal skins and gear being locked behind premium currency is ridiculous. I agree with you 100%.
