  • The Imperium of Man has perhaps never been in a darker state, split in two by the Cicatrix Maledictum and with ever-strengthening enemies on all sides. However, it is now led by a resurrected Primarch, the creator of the Codex Astartes and son of the Emperor renowned as a statesman and warrior alike.

    I'm glad GW used Abnett to bring Guilliman into the Heresy series, especially after the damage Ward did to his character. I've been surprised to find he's been one of my favourite Primarchs throughout the series.

      WeeWoo Well... Robby G is an awesome character. And the recent lore more has done him justice (saving us from the Matt Ward bullshit). He’s really a sympathetic character as well. I mean look at him from the baseline right now, the guy has just woken up to a completely unrecognizable galaxy, with A religious cult, Cadia gone, Chaos fucking the Imperium, shitty governors ruining what the Imperium once stood for, Tyranids nomming the galaxy, some Tau Vagina heads being a thorn in the side. Everyone he once knew is either dead/missing, he doesn’t even recognize his own Legion anymore. Hell even the Emperor reveals he never really loved the Primarchs as his sons, just as tools. That would have been a real punch to the gut for anyone.

    • @DragonHammer45
      @DragonHammer45 Před 5 lety

      @@SpookyMarine He's not an awesome character, he's a Mary sue, even by primarch standards. You want a 'Perfect' primarch? Sanguinius is the perfect primarch, he's noble whilst also struggling against a dark rage in his nature that has spread to his legion. The ultramarines are just 'Better because the writers say so' they never struggle, and by that extension, neither has Robby G, even growing up he was just a pampered child. From the standpoint of waking up into this new dark age- he's done jack shit. He's only whined about the state of the imperium a few times and nothing has come of it. He has to lead the ENTIRE IMPERIUM OF MAN and he's not struggling at all. He's just letting it all slide- the religion, the corruption, the bureaucracy, he's just put a few new high lords up, and that is it. He hasn't fought back against the Imperial Cult at all, he's let it stand while at the same tiem tampering with the Astartes Gene Seed and creating Primaris Marines from some random fuck-all techpriest- Fabius Bile is screaming right now- And the emperor did love his sons, just the ones that actually came out right, I mean, he was increadibly close with Horus, Magnus, and Fulgrim, to say nothing about Vulkan and Dorn. The entire point of Big-E vs Horus on his flagship was to display that entire point/ WHy else didn't Big E just mind nuke Horus off the face of existance the first chance he got? He wanted to SAVE Horus, even up until the very end. Don't make me have to spell that out anymore. Robby G is a boring primarch of a boring legion, who has done nothing to improve the lore and has done everything to ruin it.

    i think you have you early history confused, but as you said it is a mess. i have done a lot of research on the early UW (unification wars era) and Luna wasn't conquered by the Imperium until much later...so there is no way the Primarchs were built there. in fact no one knows where the primarchs were built. this is what i do know about each of the 18 legions in brief:
    1. First legion/ Dark Angels: First to ever be founded on Terra, fought by the side of the Emperor, were feared and revered in equal measure.
    3. Emperor's Children: Unclear when they were founded but they were from Europa (Europe) on Terra and the Noble Houses.
    4. Iron Warriors: One of the earliest legions founded, they were from the gun tribes and tech enclaves of Sek Amrak. Highly valued for their siege skills (ironically)
    5. White Scars: Unknown where they were founded but they were one of the earlier legions created on Terra.
    6. Space Wolves: They had no involvement in the UW period, they were part of the Tre-Foil, three legions designed for specific things by the Emperor in secret. They didn't appear until a decade or so into the Great Crusade.
    7. Imperial Fists: Named by the Emperor himself, highly trusted and valued, founded early on, recruited from across Terra, claimed the Himalayas.
    8. Night Lords: From the region of Albia, founded in the mid years, were the children of criminals and murderers.
    9. Blood Angels: Very little is known about their history, presumably founded in mid years (only a guess).
    10. Storm Walkers/ Iron Hands: Founded in the late years, had little involvement in the UW period, they were from the region of Albia.
    12. War Hounds/ World Eaters: Founded in the later years, notably fought in South Africa, recruited the most aggressive people to their ranks.
    13. Ultramarines: The Ultramarines were founded late and were recruited from across Terra, and notably from many regions who had once been OPPOSED to the Emperor, but now they were loyal. They first saw action in the Pacification of Luna.
    14. Dusk Raiders/ Death Guard: They were founded early in the UW era and were highly valued by the Emperor for their tactics. They were recruited from the region of Albia.
    15. Thousand Sons: Founded some time AFTER the Pacification of Luna (so late), their powers greatly concerned the Emperor, recruited from Persia.
    16. Luna Wolves: Contrary to popular belief they were founded quite late and only were involved in ONE major battle, the Pacification of Luna, this would earn them their new name "Luna Wolves" rather than just "16th Legion". in the UW era the First Legion were the pinnacle of Astartes.
    17. Imperial Heralds/ Word bearers: Likely founded mid to late, though it is unclear, where they recruited from is also unclear. They still called the Emperor a God even then :/
    18 Dragon Warriors/ Salamanders: Part of the Tre-Foil, only appeared at the very end of the UW era and vanquished many of the remaining enemies of the Emperor.
    19. Raven Guard: They were formed from technologically minded tribes in the Asiatic Dustfields apparently and the Emperor used them as a shadow force in many isolated campaigns. They were very cut off from the rest of the Imperium.
    20. Alpha Legion: Some people knew them as the Ghost Legion...though most people didn't know they existed at all. Part of the Tre-Foil, masters of secrecy, and last to be founded.

      @IDyce88 Před 5 lety

      @@herpaderpderp9588 that isn't possible, the Himalayan mountains weren't seized until AFTER the Primarchs were scattered and the legions were slowly founded. because the Himalayan Mountains were seized by one of the earlier legion created (aka the Imperial Fists). I know a lot about the Unification Wars era (conquest of Terra). The Primarchs were created, then scattered, then what was left of their geneseed was used to found the legions from across Terra (one by one) as Terra was slowly conquered. But the legions weren't founded in the same order as their Primarchs were numbered...from what i have researched the earliest founded legions were the Dark Angels, White Scars, Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists and Death Guard. The Dark Angels were the very first, the Iron Warriors were crucial for siege, the Imperial Fists took the Himalayas and the White Scars were just very active in general and Death Guard were the Emperor's biochemical experts. It is also POSSIBLE the Raven Guard and Word Bearers were around fairly early but i'm not certain on this. But the Raven Guard were very isolated and people didn't know much about them and the word bearers were religious nutcases even back then :/

      @@herpaderpderp9588 the horus heresy books doesn't acknowledge the original facts of the Unification Wars. you clearly don't know anything about the order in which Warhammer 40k happened. Unification Wars, Conquest of the Sol System, Great Crusade, Horus Heresy. Anything before the Great Crusade is vague and GW don't really pay it much homage...they see it as vague as the Lost Primarchs. The Unification Wars began at the end of the Age of Strife ( end of 30th Millennium). The Emperor came on the scene and Humanity bowed to him and the Emperor decided to cleanse Terra of the Techno barbarian warlords and tyrants. It was in this time he also created the Primarchs and announced the creation of the Astartes. As i said before his plans went sideways BECAUSE he lost the primarchs, judging by the fact they were scattered in SPACE i would bet the place they were built wasn't on Terra. you have to remember long before the Emperor existed Humanity had been in space before (which is why the majority of the worlds the primarchs landed on were lost colonies of man or had technology of the dark age of technology). Luna and Mars were the first planets to be claimed by the Imperium and Venus was the first after that (thanks to the Iron Warriors i might add). The adeptus mechanicus were seen more as an ally of necessity by the Emperor...because there was no other way he could build machines to conquer the galaxy. Before that alliance the mechanicus had developed differently from the Imperium and actually had been around far longer.

Imagine how much having the World Eaters as an ally could have changed the outcomes of so many decisive conflicts- from the Isstvan III Atrocity to the Siege Of The Imperial Palace. They would have been a welcome addition, even taking into account their savagery (or maybe even because of it!)

    • @Arphalia
      @Arphalia Před 5 lety +4

      Mark Brigandi it’s very possible that Angron would have seen some honor in his father, seeing as a man he never met. Someone with power, royalty no less, stood by him and the peasantry of a brutally oppressed world. That is something Angron, despite all of his rage and Brutalistic nature valued above all else. The destruction of those who oppressed and enslaved him. The emperor would have instead been a symbol not only for the people of Nuceria (SP) but to Angron himself. Quite possibly bringing some much needed stability to an already unstable mind.
      Instead, the Emperor made a rash spur of the moment decision, ultimately sealing the eternal enmity of one of his sons. How sad when you really think about it.

      Salamanders actually put human lives before their own. They are the only actual protectors of humanity.

    • @TacticaImperialis
      @TacticaImperialis  Před 5 lety

      I did a video detailing all of the Phoenix Lords and Aspect Warriors a couple of years ago - there's not been loads of information added since then, so it would basically be me repeating myself which isn't good content for the viewers.

    • @TacticaImperialis
      @TacticaImperialis  Před 5 lety +2

      No; as previously mentioned when I've been asked before, there would be too much crossover with the Legions series. Guilliman has plenty of post-Heresy history I couldn't discuss in the Ultramarines video, so this was a one off almost certainly.
