  • The Iron Warriors were a resolute and relentless, if slightly one-dimensional Legion that were renowned siege experts. Led by the Primarch Perturabo, the 4th Legion turned traitor during the Horus Heresy and have wrought ruin on the Imperium ever since. This is their story.

    I know I've been critical of some of your Iron Warrior related stuff before, but well done! The 4th is a tale of tragedy in it's own way, they were used, abused, isolated and forgotten to the point that they mostly all went mad. Fun fact, Perturabo was the one who first discovered the Eye of Terror and named it such as he felt it was watching him since childhood, but nobody else could see it in the sky. Still the best legion, pre or post heresy, in my opinion. Iron Within, Iron Without!

      I dont think they are the best legion. I think they are the best interpretation of 40k war (most other legions read like comic book fights). Iron within is one of my favorite short stories and Barabus is a badass. Perturabo however is a perma-cunt. I wish Fulgrim would have killed him when he ascended and wore his soul like a condom at the after party. Sorry, thats alot of emotion over spacemens.

      This is believed to be Dantioch's loyalist forces that showed up in Ultramar during the Ruinstorm, taken in by Gorillaman and made into their own "successor" chapter. The Silver Skull iconography comes from the face plate worn* by Dantioch, allegedly. (* worn = melted to face)

      it's completely plausible, as it is common knowledge that the ultramarines found their numbers inexplicably increased more than a few times under "don't ask" circumstances. it's also suspected that the ultramarines absorbed the remnants of the 2nd&11th legions.

  • @IDyce88

    I feel the truly sad thing about the Iron Warriors was this: in the Unification Wars (emperor conquering earth with the legions) the 4th Legion/ Iron Warriors were actually one of the earliest founded and highly valued for their siege tactics. true the Imperial Fists also were an early legion and played a major part but the Imperial Fists doctrine was slightly different in the UW era. The Iron Warriors were truly the original siege masters...but i think we have to emphasise that even after they conquered places like Venus...they were not overly appreciated for their work. This only got worse as time went on and once Perturabo took charge they developed a very...from i have researched...odd and unique psychology. within their own legion they were close...strict and harsh...but close. however they really became bitter and hateful towards the other legions and imperium. Only the iron and their fellows mattered to them.

First the Iron Cage, then War of the Beasts, Next came that one siege against an Iron Warriors forge lead by Lysander, and currently Cadia (At least this is to my knowledge anyways). Pyroskies The Iron Warriors' entire service is mass death for rulers who don't seem to care about them. At least people thank the Imperial Fists when they win after such losses, the Iron Warriors just get a painting of them dead in the mud while the Ultramarines receive the praise.
      There are some more fun stories about near total annihilation of loyalist forces. There are the Soul Drinkers. There is also my favorite loyalist chapter, the Lamenters, I highly recommend their story.

  • @RSBurgener
    @RSBurgener Před rokem

    I've read my Iron Warriors literature pretty closely. I believe Hrend sabotaged the Black Occulus out of martial integrity, a trait he shares with his Primarch. Their self worth is tied to their personal strength and sense of independence. The idea of borrowing strength from the ruinous powers would be like selling out. And then to owe chaos your life and soul in exchange for strength that you can't even legitimately call your own would be a fate worse than death. Hrend knew Perturabo would feel the same way (in fact he showed us this in Slaves to Darkness when he refused two such offers) so he decided to blow it all up.

    Have you read the Primarchs series book on Perturabo? It perfectly demonstrates that to call Perturabo a man-child is not just because it's a silly meme joke, but because it's actually true! He throws tantrums when things do not go how he wants them to go. Granted this is a Primarch so he doesn't lay on the ground kicking and screaming, he just kills the nearest living thing in the most brutal way imaginable while frothing at the mouth and bellowing like a mad bull.
