I think Saul Tarvitz is my favourite. The fact Saul commandeered a shuttle to run across a brutal warzone knowing virus bombs were about to drop and managed to coordinate 4 different legion's warriors for a months long siege is just unreal. His betrayal by Lucius also served to cement why he's just the *absolute* worst.
I like that there are two chapters that honor him one uses his mask as a sacred relic passed down in the chapter and the other uses his mask as their logo and he’s a huge inspiration for them

A couple of inaccuracies: He lost against the Hrud, his censure was for refusing to pointlessly waste the lives of his men and retreating from an untenable situation then telling Perturabo that quarantining the Hrud was the best option so that they didn’t scatter and wreak havoc on imperial worlds (which Perty ignored and then they did). Also he only held out agains a splinter force of Iron warriors. A VERY large force of Iron warriors with Titan support but not the whole legion.

Unfortunately, since it was a psychic beacon somewhat akin to the Astronomican, its destruction let out a psychic shockwave that could be detected beyond the reaches of the galaxy, which the Hive Mind later detected and took as a sign of more biomass to consume.

He didn't "defeat the hurud" he merely saw what everyone else was ignoring due to still unexplained reasons (big E was messing with Purturabo?) And backed off/ let the Hurud migrate away with less of a fight. It was Perturabo who "defeated" them w stasis fields/ a bomb. Read Purturabos primarch novel for the full story it's like 6 hours long and costs $40
