The Lava Flooded Blue Lagoon Road is a Big Tourist Hit But Might Get Flooded Again

- This is Iceland's hottest tourist road today and it will remain so until the next eruption at least since we expect the next eruption to start in the next days. This used to be the intersection from the Grindavik road to the Blue Lagoon and the little part of it is somehow free from lava and the tourists are flocking there of course. It's possible to park cars beside this new tourist sensation.
The end scene of the video is showing is the other end of the flooded road or just by the gap trough the lava barrier that was filled up to protect the infrastructure when the eruption started. That gap wont be opened again since there is a new road now from route 34 to the Blue Lagoon that remains open between volcanic events.

Thank you for visiting the Just Icelandic Channel.
Greetings from Iceland. Gylfi
Enjoyable music track with this equally stunning footage. The different textures and shapes of the lava is fascinating.
Thanks a ton and welcome :)
Road said 50, nature said zero. It is amazing how the Icelandic people are developing and working with nature at its very sharp edge.
They didn’t just arrive there after all👍
It’s not like they have a choice…
@@weatherlou Ships or Airplanes will get them off the island….that would be my choice;)
0:47 David Attenborough: and here we see a rare sight, the Icelandic Lava Human in its natural habitat of cooled lava barely sticking out of its den. this particular character is clearly a female member of the Lava Human species and is looking out for predators or potentially seeing where her mate is hoping that he has brought her some well needed nourishment eventually she will return back to the safety of the hot environment below the surface where the lava is still cooling and the den really nothing more than a giant hole created by an air pocket that formed during the eruption, a perfect home for such a majestic and wild creature.
I love the creative imagination for this portion of the video! 🥰
Nice one! lol! 😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
You are starting to understand Icelanders 🙂 -- our ancestors set sail in long boats and faced terrible danger trying to get to Iceland. So yes we are peculiar in a great way 🙂
@@stenlarsenfinnsson8239 abit of an assumption on your part it would seem, i have known for a long time what icelanders are and how they came to be so to start to understand what icelandic people are is for the young and also for them to build upon should they dare to do so.
It's weird how that one little piece of road didn't get covered.
It did
The tourists nicked all those chunks...
Few more weeks an they'll have stripped the place bare like never happened
Epic visuals Gylfi mega destruction on the road but new road built so efficiently a testament to icelandic resilience 😊❤
😊❤ thanks a ton
I visited there on the first day of my visit to your wonderful island and country. I also stopped there again today as we leave for our home tomorrow. I do so feel for the people of Grindavik who are displaced. I hope they find comfort in a new home soon.
Thank you for your wonderful videos and tales.
Great drone footage. Thank you.
Many thanks!
Really good aerial shots of the lava. Didnt realise how extensive the lava was at that area. Amazing. Good music too - just right, quite relaxing.
Interesting to see the lava in contrast against the beautiful snow. Thanks for sharing your video.
Love the drone footage. It was hard for me to see the true scope of the lava flow from a lot of the photos I have seen. This drone footage really puts it in perspective for me. Thank you!
That drone footage of the lava fields is absolutely stunning, especially since I'm more than 5.000 kms away...I'm sure an Icelanders opinion might be significantly different! Take care and God bless...
What an ODD sight to mull over! Sweet, sweet drone work !!

Incredible shapes in the lava. Thanks, Gylfi.
Thank you for the video. Who can not be amazed by the power and beauty of the natural world.
Shows how small we are after all :)
And how great and awesome our Creator God is!
And Gylif’s photography 😉
Iceland is developing an entirely new way of life to live with lava
If you had said, 'developed an entirely different way', you would have been right. Eruptions are anything but new to them. What amazes me most, is the speed at which they are fixing what nature has disrupted. Like installing a new powerline across the lava flow with the help of a helicopter. This precise work, when the line was hauled over without tightening it too strongly, nor letting it sag onto the seething hot ground... I guess few can imagine the skill behind that.
@@gabbyn978 Well, using helicopters to rig power lines is nothing new either 🙂
@@gabbyn978 No, I meant developing. With new technologies and information available now they can do a lot. The way they are mounting pylons on little hills for instance... trying to put a water pipe and fibre cables under ground for the lava to flow over. Building a road over lava days after it flowed...
What a difference time makes! People strolling on that same spot looked much less enchanting during the evacuation of Blue Lagoon. Beautiful video, thank you!
Thank you. It sure is a tourist attraction. Didn't Iceland have some world record of the quickest building of a road over fresh lava? 😉 It also looks as if the protective walls grow by the day, my respect for the hard working people there 👍.
If I were in Iceland right now, I would go there to check it too. :)
Awesome work Gylfi
Thank you so much 😀
Beautiful piece of filming, enhanced by the perfect accompanying music. Thank you Gylfi.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I love your work!
Excellent update! You are great! Thank you very much. 👋
So nice of you
Excellence +5 for the pictures…stay safe, greetings from Luxembourg 🇱🇺 island
Love it Gylfi. This is the best Icelandic channel on CZcams
Do my best :) thanks
Well done. Thank you and have a great day.
Thanks, you too!
Great work Gylfi! Perfect music ..nature as it comes NO COMMENT 👌
Many thanks!
Thanks for posting.. I wish you well.
Gylfi, you are an artist! Thank you!
The girl with the camera, in the lava, speaks volumes. Thanks Gylfi. 🙂👍
Welcome :)
Thank you. This is wonderful to watch!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nicely done!
Thank you! Cheers!
We are so pleased that you go out and make this footage Gylfi! I had to pause it to see the parking area and make a mental note of the access point. Especially like your supertelephoto stills, great job stopping to get those. I can tell you are enjoying the new lens! In fact you helped me decide to bring a 600mm next time vs the 400 I took last time. Best regards as always.
Absolutely STUNNING footage, Gylfi. The music is perfect, too. Now I **really** want to come up and join those lava tourists clambering around on Earth's newest land...
Welcome to Iceland :)
Lovely video again, Gylfi. Thank you. Nature and the Icelandic people are amazing . 😍
Really cool to see the lava flow up close, but I don't know if I would walk on it. Even if it's not hot, it looks jagged and sharp. Thank you, Mr. Gylfi for your time and effort.
Very nice shots, Gylfi! It's so awesome to see nature creating a new tourist attraction out of nowhere! I have to visit Iceland in the future, at least once in my life! Otherwise I'm not dying!
It’s just amazing seeing these lava flows
That's the Icelandic resilience right there with the repaired road, water pipes and power lines lined with Earth and rock. You guys are one tough group of people. Now wonder since you're descendant from Vikings, one of the top 5 toughest people on Earth.
We have to in those conditions 😁👍🏻 and welcome
@@JustIcelandic I know it must be frustrating for the Grindavik people not being able to fully return their homes and and jobs, I know you guys can make it. Didn't you mention at some point that you lived in Grindavik for a few decades, and worked on this one boat area near the Fagradalsfjall coast area?
Great music for this.
Thank you so much for stunning vidéo from Iceland! My prayers are whit the Icelanders...from Brussels Belgium ❤❤
The stark beauty of the lava field and surrounding snow caps with that music, perfect.
It does evoke mixed feelings, knowing all that happened to Grindavik.
Thank you, Gylfi 💜🌍
Amazing all the way around. Thank you for the chance to see it, wow. :)
Thank you :)
Nice edit of the lava video from drones to show the key views in a short format. The upbeat music adds to the atmosphere of tourists (and maybe some locals) enjoying the new lava from February.
Beautifully done! Videography and music track. Amazing work in an amazing land.
Thanks a ton and greetings from Iceland :)
Thank you once again for sharing the beauty Iceland through your eyes. Although there was no hot stuff to be seen, this footage is fantastic.
Stunning photography. Thank you Gylfie. Wow.
Awesome footage. Thank you!
Thank you too!
Great job on these short videos from the drone, Gylfi. Thanks for posting! 😎
👍thnx for this Gylfi - love the music! 🎶
Welcome :)
I've been watching your videos for a couple years now, really enjoyed your insights into little towns around the country and rvk neighborhoods - great to see you getting the views & recognition you deserve!
Rite Gylfi Dude, You sure do know how to put a vid together! Stay safe n well on the Beautiful Volcano Island ICELAND. TFS, GB :) Oh how's the car?
Your videos are getting better and better - thanks for sharing your skills with us!
Wow Glyfi very artistic vid shots here, shows a different side to your personality/ perspective 💞
Very quick work rebuilding that road! Fortunately we don't have these problems here in the UK - our last volcanoes went extinct over 200 million years ago! Not sure when I'll visit again, more likely autumn than April (my other usual time) as if I visit (money permitting etc) I'd like to catch Langjokull and Solheimajokull one year on. And take pot luck with anything actually erupting as the current eruptions are all so brief. Impressive footage as ever, many thanks.
Nice music. I usually prefer a voice-over but this was quite suitable for the video.
Cool, thanks
Beautiful work as always :) Thank you!
Terrific footage Gylfi. It’s fascinating to me to see the lava flow up close & get some perspective of scale. Thank you.👍🏻😊
Many thanks
Thanks so much for everything you do here. I love the honesty and how you hold back little. Your admission of using of gasoline in a newly acquired diesel vehicle is the kind of mistake any of us might make. Yet, you don't hold that back and instead include it along with everything else going on. This makes it so human and so real and it connects us with you as you struggle and work forward. It's a part of what makes your presentations special and unique to me. My love and best wishes.
Thank you! It seems to fit me to tell my stories as they come since things happen and we just have to make the best from them :) and I'm glad you like my way of presenting this, and greetings from the volcano island :)
Amazing footage Gylfi. It's so unreal, but at the same time so beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Stunning visuals during your fly-over. The music is perfect, too! Thank you so much for sharing with us ❤
Thank you very much!
Fascinating!!! I loved the homo sapien stills interspersed w/the flight video. So interesting to see how our landscapes form - in real time. Bravo - you did it again!!!
What an amazing bit of footage. Love the background music too. So calm and peaceful.
Thanks for visiting
What amazing footage. Thank you.
Welcome
Thank you for the footage! ❤love the music!
Glad you enjoyed it
Icelanders are sure resilient! Great footage!
Beautiful footage, nature is amazing!
Many thanks
Beautiful! Thanks Gylfi. You have amazing talent.
Thank you so much Diane :)
Very interresting - thanks for the video....
Loved this!
The music is great.
Incredible footage Gylfi! Your drone skills never cease to amaze! 😁
I try
Wonderful informative and artful video! It gives such a great perspective of the size and scope of the last eruption's damage and the ongoing work to head off future problems to the extent possible. And, one can really see the size of the barriers in this video. Thank you!
Many thanks!
Seeing the lava surface - brittle plates and chunks- what an amazing phenomenon. Reminds me of Craters of the Moon, Idaho!
Very nice music track.
Will be in Iceland in late May, I’m very excited to see this area!
Beautiful. Love the music.
Thanks a ton :)
Very awesome video as always. Blessing to you.
Thanks again!
When I was youg, long time ago, I swam in a Lava Lake in Italien, best swim ever, mainly for the skin. Can one do that in island? Great view and Im happy for you that the thumbs-up counter swam up as I watched
Thanks and welcome :)
Spectacularly beautiful 💜🌋🔥
I like this Tourist road, and it looks like the lava is 5-6 feet (1.5-2 meters) deep. I didn't realize people could walk or climb over it so soon after eruption.
Nothing stops Icelanders. What lava went over our road, we will just build new road on the lava.🥰
There are no other ways to work around this :)
Some poor guy is going to be given a bucket and told to clean all that mess up.
Nice video keep them coming❤
The Land Speaks. Nice work.🎼👍👍
Thanks for listening
Lava: Covers the road
Icelanders : 'Oh no...anyway...."
Awesome - nature is amazing ...thank you & stay safe.
Thanks and welcome :)
Beautiful music 🎶
Amazing footage! Iceland needs the tourism now more than ever. Lava is used for road gravel and rock mulch and those rocks you put in your grill. Maybe build the worlds largest outdoor Grill as a tourist attraction? Bar-B-Que contests on the worlds largest Grill?
On 6th July 2023 my first vacation to Iceland ended and I felt the earthquakes. But did not worry. Crazy what happend since that date in this area. Thanks Gylfi !
Great footage thanks
Thanks for watching
Très belles images comme d'habitude.
Thank you very much :)
awesome!
Such a wonderful landscape. Thank you for sharing. It must be like sitting on a time bomb. Take care. 🫣
Very nice videography and music. Thanks so much.
Thank you too!
Lovely drone footage Gylfi!

Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Legendary effort,. thanks and best wishes from Yorkshire.
Many thanks!
Interesting. I found the distance shots to be exquisitely beautiful but the up-close shots to be disturbing. Thank you, Just Icelandic, for sharing Iceland’s beauty with your beautiful movie-making.
Stunning, thank you🙏🙏🙏
You’re welcome 😊
