- Despite the 2 weeks i spent recently on the Reykjanes Peninsula, while mother earth was just teasing us, i'm off to the south again in order to capture the first hours of eruption number 8. I have already captured huge amount of footage but nothing from the first hours of eruption 4-7 and it's very important to have a least one such scene from my own camera gear to use in a documentary later on. It's impossible to say how the next chapter will turn out so I'm only concerned about the outcome for Grindavik and the Svartsengi infrastructure. We can handle anything else.

Me brother was stationed in Iceland in the late 1960's. He told me that there was not one single tree in Iceland. On this fine morning of May 15, 2024,in this fine video at minute 2:24 , I spotted a "huge Icelandic forest". I learn something new every every time I watch another video on this channel. Thanks for all the videos my friend.

Highly recommend you get a throttle for the bike if it doesn't have one already. I own the same bike and have used it offroad and the main flaw, which isn't exclusive to this bike but more of a heavy e-bike flaw, is that if you stop in a difficult location, a hill or a rugged terrain it can be rather difficult to get going again due to the weight of the bike. A throttle solves that problem, just needed to get going again.
It has a throttle, I need it :) it's hard to get it in the car :)
My Tern eCargo bike doesn’t have a throttle but has a walk mode that makes it easier to get moving. But obviously we’ve already made our decisions. 😊

Great, yoo and Shawn together. The reason for the people who live there it is a nightmare, my heart really goes out to the Islandic people. But it is so fascinating and awesome to watch vulcano’s but we can learn a lot from this, how our planet and her nature really works It helps people get prepared and informed in what for envirement they live in. The EBike is home! So glad. Also that you and Prof Shawn are teaming up. Despite all the worries and apprehension, there is an unavoidable rush of science excitement that proceeds eruptions. There is always that thought in the back of your head that you might discover a concept or fact that no one else has come up with. I know that if I had turned right instead of left, figuratively speaking, in my life and ended up a geology major instead of a Navy careerist I would be making a pest of myself in your neck of the woods. I don't know Gylfi, from what I hear about Greenland shark meat, people might not be inclined to come. Though I'd rather try that than Haggis. 😉 Stay healthy my friend. I don't know how I would satisfy my Icelandic geology craving. Most of the other channels just go for the shock factor and clickbait. I sincerely appreciate your dedication to the science of volcanology and that you don't report anything just on your opinions (though they're always well thought out). You also give the views of the most recognised experts in the field so we armchair geologists can have our bit of fun guessing what's going to happen next too. And as always, love your comprehensive video work showcasing the area as a whole, and not just the currently exciting bits.
