- Although there are no signs of "NO FISHING" to be found, according to the OC Sheriff, I was fishing in a no fishing zone.
Didn't want to argue and decided to be a law abiding citizen and moved to a new spot. Plenty of fishing spots in the ocean.

That sucks that you can't fish in those no fish zones. We have a bait barge in the San Diego bay, and under it are large halibut and Calicos!
Yes predatory fishes like to hang out nearby the bait barges. This was the reason why I was running around that day looking for bait barges.
So what was the illegal item? Sea-Weed😂

I've been given a warning in Los Alamitos Bay for fishing in a no fishing zone. The officer told me it's a $1200 fine. They get you for a few misdemeanors. 1. Fishing in a no fishing area $400, 2. taking marine life from a no fishing area $400, 3. Can't remember the 3rd thing he told me but it added up to $1200.

Very good flip. That is correct. I don't have a bill of sale because I bought the kayak used. So yeah I've been riding dirty haha. What's even more interesting is I've been pulled over by harbor patrol and department of fish and game and none of them have said a word about the motor.

i’ve fished newport/back bay for years with my kayak and what that cop said is BS. you can even look it up on their R&R conservatory site and it says nothing about it. i’ve fished on the other side of the bridge including the docks and down to back bay beach with zero issues. you can make your own conclusions on why you were warned but legality is not the reason.
I typically question authorities if I smell something fishy. However, I wasn't a perfect little angel myself using a unregistered motorized kayak; therefore, I wasn't in a position to question anyone. Soon as the Sheriff pulled up next to me, his first words were "I know there isn't a no fishing sign around here but the rule here is that there's no fishing on a vessel on this side of the bridge".
