  • It's Superbowl Sunday as I set out to explor Izor's reef. Launched out of Huntington Harbor, Trinidad Park. It took 3 hours to get to the fishing spot on a kayak.

      It's all public knowledge bro. If you do a Google search for Izor's reef you would find it there as well.

    Awesome video! I’ve kayak fished Izors a number of times, but we always launch off of Bolsa Chica State Beach. It’s a four mile paddle from Tower 17 at Bolsa out to Izors Reef. I had no idea that they were allowing kayaks to enter and exit Huntington Harbour. You have an electric motor, but it didn’t look like you have a CF number. The Navy’s standard rule was always no Jet Skis and no unidentified vessels allowed on their side of the bridge. Only gas, electric, or diesel powered vessels with a valid CF number were allowed past the bridge. Even after they completed the civilian exit/entry project the Harbor Patrol told me I still was not allowed to paddle past the bridge. After watching your video, I’m excited to give it a try. I live in the far end of Huntington Harbour and it’s 2.5 miles from there to the mouth of Huntington Harbour and then another 4.6 miles out to Izors Reef. 🎣😃

      Hello Dan, you are now the 3rd person to tell me this. I would like to come back to HB harbor and go to Izors again when it's safe after all these storms are done raging. The 3 times I've fished on a kayak going out of HB harbor, I was stopped by Lifeguards the first time fishing next to Seal Beach pier. Then on my 2nd time out of there I was stopped by OC Sheriffs. Both didn't say anything about not allowing me to go outside the harbor. The 3rd time was going to Izors on super bowl Sunday but didn't see any Sheriffs or Life Guards on this day. So honestly I'm not sure if rules changed or remains the same. The worst case scenario getting caught going outside the harbor is they tell you to go back inside. I didn't see any signs that says you can't go outside but then again I could of missed it. I tried to search online to see rules about this and only saw that you can't paddle board or pedal/paddle kayak outside. Didn't see anything about motorized vessels can't go outside. Yes sir you are very detailed about my CF number. I have yet to register the motor so it will bite me in the behind one of these days. The days I went outside the harbor, I've noticed the current was going against the direction I was headed especially under the bridge. My motor had a hard time moving forward at that part as the current was visible. Same thing happened when I was heading back into the harbor. The current was rushing out as I was trying to get back in. This may be dangerous for small crafts when there's military ships that travels in and out of there which is probably why they close off the channel. I saw the Littoral combat ship come through the mouth of the harbor on my 2nd trip out of HB harbor. I was waiting on my kayak next to the jetty on the Seal Beach side before I could get in the harbor when they re-opened the channel after the Littoral combat ship had docked. Thanks again for watching, commenting and subscribing.

      @@playdirty714 Kenny… the worst case scenario would be to get busted on the way back in and then not being allowed to re-enter the harbor!😃 Hopefully that wouldn’t happen. I’ll have to do some research and see what the current rules are. I would love to have the option of launching at my house and being able to paddle out to open ocean!😃🎣

      @@losthorizonfishing107 Glad to hear you are doing good sir. I just called (714) 840-5222 which is the OC Sheriffs stationed in Huntington Harbor and they said motorized or non-motorized kayaks are NOT allowed to go through Anaheim Bay. According to the the Sheriff, this is a federal regulation not a state or county or city regulation. So what I did in this video is actually NOT allowed. Thanks for bringing this up so that I can share the info here. In my next video, I will make sure to mention about this so that people don't do the same thing I did.

    • @playdirty714
      @playdirty714  Před 5 měsíci

      Yes sir you have to register it whether it's gas or electric motor. It's pretty cheap to register it. I haven't done it because I don't want to wait in the DMV line and pure laziness. I've had the motor for about a year and a half and been pulled over by Fish and Game, LA/OC Sheriffs, Life Guards, none of them asked about my motor. I haven't been pulled over by the Coast Guards yet so I'm sure they enforce it. Typically when I see them from a distance, I turn off my motor and grab my paddles or avoid areas where you know where they hang out at.

    Did you know that you are not allowed to kayak out to sea from Huntington Harbor?

    • @playdirty714
      @playdirty714  Před 5 měsíci

      49ers Tu was telling me the same thing except he said your kayak must have a motor and must be registered. This is my 3rd time going outside Huntington Harbor on a kayak. 1st time was fishing in front of Seal Beach next to Seal Beach pier. Got pulled over by Life Guard and they asked me where did I launch from I told them inside Huntington Harbor. They said ok, just don't be fishing less than 200 yards from the shore. 2nd time I was fishing oil rig Esther, got pulled over by Orange County Sheriffs when I fished in front of the Navy base. Sheriffs told me no fishing between the bridge and mouth of harbor. 3rd time was this video. All the times, I passed the guard tower but guard in guard tower didn't say anything. I'm starting to see more and more kayakers fishing at the mouth of Huntington Harbor so not sure if rules changed. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to look for the rules on this online and see if I can find it.

      @@victoraguilar4607 I would highly recommend a hobie Outback. It's light so it's easy to move around. It's also stable so it's harder to flip. The pro Angler is too heavy and it gets to be a pain loading/unloading/moving around. The revolution is easier to flip as it's more narrower. The Oldtown kayaks are good too but more on the expensive side and harder to find used ones on Offerup, Marketplace, Craigslist.

      @playdirty714 Initially, I was inclining towards the Hobie brand, but I've read tons of negative reviews, hull leaks, cracks, drive problems, terrible customer service and not made in the US anymore. At that price point, I would be expecting quality. But I guess it is the new norm nowadays. What are your thoughts on the nucanoe unlimited and the titan x12.5.

    That red fish had its eyes bulging showing it had barotrauma and you didn't use a descending device to release it properly. You just edited the video after tossing it back in. That's pretty irresponsible as a fisherman. I guess that's why your channel name is play dirty.

    • @playdirty714
      @playdirty714  Před 5 měsíci +1

      You are correct. The responsible thing was to release the rockfish using a descending device which I do have onboard. However, the fish was able to swim down on its own. I edit the video to end soon as fishes are released not to waste viewer's time. Playdirty714 was a handle I used when I was gaming and playing online poker many years ago.
