  • Connor Murphy once had a reputation as an extroverted, disciplined, go-getter who’s athleticism easily rivalled other top tier fitness influencers. At his peak he was being discussed by Ethan and Hila Klein from H3H3 Productions and the H3 Podcast, however, as the years rolled by and Connor Murphy’s channel faded into irrelevance, his mental state would sadly decline alongside it. This video will cover that tragic transformation, from an influencer with over 2 million subscribers to a man who lost his mind.
This is, The Fitness CZcamsr Who Went Clinically Insane.

Yes, some mental disorders almost always present during that stage - such as schizophrenia. I know of someone who was completely "normal" up until about age 21. After that point, he was never the same - seemingly for absolutely no reason at all. He was eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia. Now, at nearly 50, he is a stereotypical homeless man who talks to himself while standing outside of a Dollar General. He's never been compliant with meds, so no one can help him for any extended period.

I for one was perfectly fine in January 2017 but started to have suicidal thoughts for seemingly no reason in April of the same year, went to see a psychiatrist in June and sent to a mental institution in October. Not fun at all, I went from feeling like I found the answer to all of lifes questions to complete dysphoria, confusion and being convinced I was already dead in mere minutes and I would switch between laughter and crying. @teharthe Před rokem

      This video is sensationalist garbage.
      Conor was never really insane.
He talked at length about spirituality, nondualism, about metaphysics. He debated people, including Vegan Gains, Cosmic Skeptic, Matt Dillahunty and others. He was articulate in his beliefs. He called himself God from a pantheist perspective, but according to that everyone is God. This video conveniently does not show the substance of his beliefs.
He was unhinged, but he kept tabs on reality. His unhinged nature is hard to understand for normies. It's a state of childish wonder, a state that goes to the core of human experience that we repress and ignore via social bullshit. That wild, wild state. That beautiful boiling blood filled with whimsical excitement and ectasy. Euphoria.
And what is insanity really? To me, insanity is reductiveness. I see plenty of people being reductive without "acting insane". Someone who acts wild is not necessarily insane, but free. To me, your reductive ass is insanity, regardless of how much of an obedient boy or girl you are to the norms.
Conor, at the time when he was "insane", was one of the most unbridled and amazing people I ever saw in my entire life.
He indeed started being reckless but that was not the crux of his spiritual journey. And an ignoramus like the one who made this video who superficially skims stories and makes stupid edgy " documentaries " on them, while ignoring the heart, does not know that.
Yeah, his friends were trash. We've seen this with Etika, another great human being. Everyone abandoned him when he was just a raw human.

Plus we don’t know the full story, I’ve had friends have psychotic breaks and like at a certain point you just have to separate yourself from them. There’s nothing you can do and being together is potentially dangerous or incredibly draining at best. This guy was just calling his friend all the time to tell him he’s god and how enlightened he was, like how would you react in that situation. You have no idea how frustrating it can all be for the outsiders too unless you’ve been in it. I just had to separate myself until they were better because they thought I was in the FBI and after you spend hours trying to explain how you’re not it gets rough

      But practically speaking,
Mental instability is not a fever that's gonna disappear next day , it's gonna take years so you have to be patient + pt lose their social reputation and status so they become less beneficial (it's hard to get job, partner for pt) + if you respond once they approch you again without caring about time or place + they are unpredictable(they may do wrist cuts , may attack you ) so you always have to be careful about how you talk to them.
In short, they require high maintenance so it is obvious that they are left alone to suffer if they don't have family or very close friends.

Agree, that was gross of them. That stuff should not really be for public consumption. I gotta ask though, have you actually had a friend go through a mental breakdown like that?
One of my childhood friends was diagnosed as schizophrenic in our late teens. The unfortunate reality is that sometimes there's just nothing meaningful you can do to help.
At the start we gave it out all, bought him a bike for transportation, housed and fed him whenever he needed etc. Encouraging him to find work and stay on meds. He required us to do ALL of it. He lost the job after 2 weeks for stealing $15 a few times, then got pissed at us for telling him he needs to stop doing that kind of stuff. Ended up getting kind of aggressive and with my younger siblings it just wasn't cool to have around the house. We kept the garage open with a futon and stuff if he ever needed it but he was no longer welcome inside. Once he was out on his own he got hooked on meth, showed up high as fuck, smoked in the garage a bunch, vandalized stuff with legit Schizo drawings. Just sad seeing a friend go through it. Keep in mind this was not linear decline either, peaks and valleys galore where I thought he was going to recover countless times, and within a month he was back in the garage incoherently mumbling to himself.
Anyways my point is no matter how much love you give the mental illness will trump it all. It fucking sucks, but it's the truth. Unless you're a qualified psychologist you may as well be speaking two different languages. And if you do end up trying, it's a full time commitment. You can't take proper care of yourself, work full-time, and take good care of your sick best friend. The best way you can help them effectively is by leading them to the proper means of help, just hope your areas social support system isn't a nightmare.

But I work at a psychiatric hospital, mostly on the highest acuity units (that treat people suffering from severe psychosis), and I cannot count how many times I have seen people be admitted in the state he's in, often much worse, and within 10 days of proper medication management they, for lack of a better way of putting it, totally return to reality. They'll still have some symptoms. But those delusions and hallucinations can absolutely be controlled with the proper medications, but ONLY if they're monitored by a qualified and experienced psychiatrist and only if the person takes their medication as prescribed.

I just commented above regarding this. Ayahuasca is a life changing experience, and it should be done very sparingly. Many people do it once and that's enough to experience what they need. My neighbor, who I grew up with, started taking LSD in high school. He got up to 5 hits a day, and he went clinically insane after a year. He spent almost a month at CMH. Afterwards his mom sold their house and he moved to Arizona. I lost contact with him after that, so I have no idea how he fared in life. He showed absolutely no indication of insanity beforehand, and I actually thought he had his s**t together. Well a year of dropping 5 hits of acid a day will take a toll on anyone.

It's amazing how much I can relate to this. Between being crazy or having had a spiritual awakening, it's kinda both. But he isn't enlightened. Just awakened to the spiritual aspect of life. The craziness and drama is a product of what I call externalization. The spiritual process can be very intense and when we overdo it, push it too hard too quick, the mind starts to rebel by creating all kinds of external drama to draw the attention back out into the world. Over time he will become wise to it and start to relax as the process ensues. Spirituality will remain a primary obsession until he reaches enlightenment. But life will be re-integrated with it. Seems like he's already gone through a lot of initial phases. What he needs is to lay off the DMT and also he needs to speak much less about it. Become silent if possible. So long as he keeps speaking, his mind will manufacture all kinds of distractions, drama, psychosis, and maybe even worse.

On one side it seems a bit opportunistic to capitalize on his breakdowns, however on the other side its good for everyone involved (him included) to gather/archive evidence in order to get a grasp on the situation and share how dire his state had become. (Most of the videos made by his friends seemed pretty genuinely concerned to me, like the guy sharing a respectful recount and the girl who was helping clean his house up, maybe its slightly odd to us for them to film these things but you have to keep in mind these people are content creators and he was a man who had a platform of very confused/concerned followers, i think his friends just helped offer a little bit of clarity to the situation).
When you take into account the financial gains his friends might have made from covering the situation i can understand why the motive might be scrutinized, but at the end of the day they were the ones keeping people updated in a actually sensical way and somewhat controlling the speculation at the time by sharing their videos
