    Stevie’s voice on Insider is absolutely stunning. I really wish that she had sung like that more often on her solo stuff. Her FM voice was perfect for rock, but she also had such sweetness as well. It’s a fantastic duet.

      Tom was Stevie's best friend. Not sure the other way around though. Remember the song, "Don't come around here no more"? It was from Tom to Stevie!

      @@risumotus That is incorrect. Stevie said, "don't come around here no more" to Joe Walsh after she broke up with him. TP liked it and used it. TP and Stevie were very good friends.

    "Insider" is my favorite of the 3 songs I've heard of Stevie and Tom together. R.I.P. Tom. What a legacy of music he left us. "Whenever I Call You Friend" is another favorite duet of mine with Stevie, though I'm not a big fan of a lot of Loggins other popular solo work. Was really fun seeing another side of Stevie in that song, Kenny tends to be more up than Stevie. Stevie Nicks is one of a kind, a total original in every way, and full of surprises historically. All of "the Mac" are legend now. R.I.P. lovely song bird Christine.

      @Wayne Bishop How many Heartbrakers or Eagles Stevie slept with? Not nearly enough I suspect. Considering she was that hot and talented. She was not gonna waste that opportunitiy. Would you? She went for her peers - talented songwriters or singers. FM and Stevie literally had baby grand pianos lifted by cranes into hotel suites by 1980. For a period 'Rumours' best selling album of all time etc. Nah - Iovine was lucky to get her - but I won't suggest he _slept his way to the top_ by romancing her.
      Guys in Stevie's enviable position went for desperate, grubby groupies. Stevie was more discerning and romantic in her passions - that's why she wrote those fabulous songs about her men. Always *powerful, successful men* too.
      I often think "Rhiannon" or "Gold Dust Woman" were really about herself. She was definitely a femme fatal. Dangerous. *I bet she had an absolute BLAST. The 70s / 80s early were the best for rock stars. I wish I'd been her back then. I'd have gone through the phone book - lol.*

    Tom Petty said in his own documentary that he wouldn't let Stevie join "The Heartbreakers" officially because she was a girl. It wouldn't of worked he said. I do however love their duets and I liked how Stevie didn't judge Tom for saying he barely made it through school. She had went to college several years, she just knew they meshed and could write and sing each other's songs.

I had 5 years of College too but I have 3 degrees, because I didn't have the luxury of a becoming a famous Rock N Roll Singer/Musician.....Hope you aren't being a smart ass, especially on this day...Dan Lynch, because Tom Petty passed away today. :(

      Tom Petty went to Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville Florida where he majored in art. He made very good grades in school, he had several jobs after school too. He is very humble. Sorry, he was very humble.

      I did not google it. I went to UF and Tom's uncle was my landlord. Plus, Mudcrutch played our college cafeteria the Rathskeller, and Dubs and all the local places around the college. It was not much of a town back then, and everything revolved around the college, the Gators. The area around it was totally nowhere-ville. Everyone who grows up there can't wait to leave. There was no way he was going to hang out and work in his father's convenience store for the rest of his life.

    Too bad Tom Petty passed away. He and Stevie Nicks were good friends. It is a good thing that he did not let her join the group; she might have been branded a Yoko. (Yoko is supposedly the reason that the Beatles broke up.)

    • @hotdogflavouredmilkshake
      @hotdogflavouredmilkshake Před 6 lety +2

      Kathy Norton stfu Tom wouldn’t let her do that lol

    • @warrenfourie511
      @warrenfourie511 Před 5 lety +15

      Bullshit. The Beatles broke up because they grew apart not because yoko and John fell in love. The men had agency, yoko isn’t a witch. She didn’t cast spells. The boys decided they couldn’t work together. Whether that’s because John was influenced by yoko or not. John made his own decisions. Sucks that women are often blamed in situations like this while excuses are made for the men. Rant over.
