react to ocean planet by gojira
the drummer (mario duplantier) has a youtube channel with a couple drum solo's that you can react to
The gift of guilt live to finish u of
Dude! You should do some Beetween the Buried and Me reactions. It's like rush and gojira fucked and had a baby that was weird and brutal
You would absolutely love stranded dude, please check it out nextđ
Mario is one of the best current drummers. A human metronome.
Danny Carey is insane aswell.
Mario vs Danny 30 minute drum battle when
@@NatCo-Supremacist I think Danny Carey can't be matched when he's on it. Seeing him jam with Brann Dailor makes me believe he isn't of the competitive type though.
@@NatCo-Supremacist would love to see that two of my top 5 drummers all time right there !

That chorus though, maks me cry. The way Gojira is able to create a melody with growls and very heavy music is beautiful. A lot of bands will tone done the intensity of the music in the melodic parts and then go back to heavy. But Gojira has a way to create a beautiful, melodic, touching, music without toning it down, not a notch.
Yes, it's an acquired taste for sure but absolutely love them.
That final riff is just FILTHY.
There is something special about Gojira.
A lot of people refer to them as "prog." And while I hesitate to use that term, the whole is definitely greater than the sum of it's parts.
I can pick up my guitar and pick out pretty much any of their riffs fairly quickly, but there is something about the way they put their songs together that makes them so musically interesting.
And I reiterate, you have never seen a more devastating live band in your entire life.
@@oyc7946 this. The only thing that would make them 'prog' is the odd time signatures but Gojira is technical death metal.
«its» parts.
They may not be prog metal but they do have some elements of Prog metal
I get what you mean, Gojira is something special. People could say that they have elements of prog or death or whatever but in the the end Gojira truly is Gojira. They are one of a kind and i love em to deathâ€ïž
Since when is Prog a bad word? It literally makes me want to listen to a band if theyâre Prog
Mario has recently put out several CZcams videos with just him playing a selection of songs as well as doing quick drum solos. I've been a drummer for 25 years, and I don't think there are many people who can match him as far as skill power and speed.
I donât personally drum but it seems his style is unparalleled . Fresh and unique
Goosebumps every moment with Gojira
Dude, you are hooked. I had the same reaction the first time I listened to the tracks you've done this week. Here's the thing ... that's just the first listen. Wait till you put them on repeat and start to dig in ... find all the subtleties you missed the first couple of times. I was never into the death metal scene because of the screaming too, but for me, these vocals really are another instrument and add to the vibe rather than detract from it. And if you ever have the chance to see them live, you owe it to yourself. They give off such positive energy - you can tell they love performing for their fans, and they sure as hell bring it!
thats philosophy about vocals i made too, restricting vocals to clean-only is like saying instruments should be played only one way, not using entire scale they provide. And god damn, it hits hard when played right, and thats good
THE SUBTLETIES!!!!!
@@KrakenIsMahB Stay with your analogy. Using only clean vocals is like using only clean guitars. In metal we like to distort guitars and vocals! That doesn't mean we don't also like them clean, but we like the whole spectrum :D
I promise, you wonât ever be disappointed with Gojira. You gotta try Where Dragons Dwell (live), Silvera, Pain Is A Master, and/or Vaucity. Edit: Where Dragons Dwell, Mario (the drummer) goes at least a solid minute and a half of double bass kicks
Senor Chips my last creation and mouth of kala
Something near 4 minutes I think
Itâs about 4 minutes of double bass kicks straight...
Even crazier is From the sky. Basically the whole song is just double kicks
it's about 4 min, 6 when they play the long version
GOJIRA - OCEAN PLANET

Has Drew heard Meshuggah yet?
I don't think he has.
I think Drew needs to hear Meshuggah.
SeanD313 yes! I need to see that đ
But is he ready for Meshuggah?
Ryan De Boer probably not, which is why it would be so entertaining to watch!
Jesus Christ Denton certainly not. I was thinking something more accessible/commercial, like âIâ. đ
âDo Not Look Downâ might be a good one. Not too out there, has some groove/funk to it... could be good.
Greetings from Athenry!
Came for the Tool, stayed for the Gojira and whatever you stumble upon next.
Love the blankey.
sup neighbour same as ,thats some feckin track! from loughrea ha ha :-) we should let people know its in Galway, Ireland,
John Lenihan đ€Łđ€Łđđ»â€ïž
I love how this entire album is pieced together. The way this flows into Esoteric Surgery then Vacuity then Wolf down the Earth. It's a masterpiece.
The vocals will grow on you eventually. I remember hating it too.
Definitely. It actually has a lot more melody than regular metal screaming.
I haaaated the vocals man! It took like 1 year to finally get how fkin great joeâs vocals are. Now hes one of my fav vocalists
I second this, at first i was like "who tf likes this, its awful" now im like "this is still brutal and heavy as shit...and i LOVE it"
I got into Slipknot during a time when Corey Taylor started mixing up his vocals more and was switching between the gutteral shouts and his clean singing throughout songs and I always hated the parts of the songs where the vocals were harsh, when listening to them.
I feel like this is a journey every fan of heavy metal experiences at some point.
Ive always loved Joe's vocals, weird
You have to do a reaction to "Where Dragons Dwell" live at Hellfest.
The guitar at the end is a reversed track of another song off the album, they do this in a few on their albums. Gojira is simply art, from Mario Duplantier being the greatest drummer of our generation to Joe Duplantier having the harsh but melodic vocals itâs amazing. Jean-Michel Labadie absolutely throws his heart into the bass and Christian Andreu with his crazy rhythms! The Gift of guilt is a less heavy track for you, or the shooting star. Their latest album (Magma) is tailored for newer listeners
The gift of guit live at Brixton academy London next!!
You have to listen Only pain!! And stranded, silvera... There's a lot of it
Gojira: Toxic Garbage Island, Where Dragons Dwell, Gift of Guilt- all live- and The Clone. Those are my suggestions for you to listen to for Gojira. Can't wait to see more of your videos! I'm loving your reactions ^_^
I saw Gojira live in a small venue in Glasgow. I had this great spot where I could lean against a wall, and I could feel the vibration of the double bass going through the walls. It was amazing. He is such a great drummer.
The whole Brixton Academy London live show is a masterpiece, Explosia, Backbone, The gift of guilt...đ
Richard Foltier wise words đ
Where can i watch full show? Please help
Chamod Jayampathi the same platform you are using now.
Mario's feet are impressive, but the most impressive part is that intro. That snare pattern is just too syncopated and too good not to appreciate!
This song is a lot to take in lol. Should be interesting reaction đ€đ»
I'm so jealous. You get to experience Gojira for the first time, something I'll never be able to do, no matter how much I'd want to. Breathe it in, your journey through their music has only just begun
Man you have to check out Esoteric Surgery by Gojira when you get a chance the drums are fucking sick especially the way it locks in with the guitars. This track is so underrated and one of my favorites. Mario is a BEAST when it comes to drums
Love the reactions, please keep Gojira coming! Stranded, Silvera, Where Dragons Dwell, Lefaunt Sauvage, Gift of Guilt! Gojira wont disappoint brother!
Mario is legit, THE best drummer in metal, PERIOD!
Gift of Guilt, but it has to be live from London
"Right on cue"
That's Gojira, dude. Take my subscribe.

The art of becoming a Gojira fan!
I think you should try Opeth too. React to Blackwater Park track from them. You won't regret it
Really enjoying your gojira videos man. Iâm a massive fan of theirs and it always makes me happy to see other people enjoy them as well, especially since youâre just now experiencing them. You mentioned not liking death metal growls for the entirety of a song so Iâd recommend checking out their newest album, Magma. Joe Duplantier (their lead guitar and vocals) tries a lot of new styles in the album. Shooting Star is a great place to start :)
how can someone say they have lack of confidence while screaming like a god
i feel like everyone has the feeling that they're not good enough at some point, regardless of how good they may be at something
From Mars to Sirius and The Way of All Flesh have no bad songs on them and will be worthy of entire album reactions much like you did with Tool.
Yeah, these guys are something special. Can't remember if you've done it yet, but The Gift of Guilt live is a must
It's not just about technical abilities. Gojira gives me those deep feelings that no other music band does
Gojira - The Gift of Guilt live at Brixton Academy.
Gojira - Remembrance (The Link Alive)
!
The gift of guilt and toxic garbage island are fantastic songs by gojira
This band it's out of this planet dude, you must check out the song "The way of all flesh" or "This emptiness" and also, if you wanna see some good performances, you must react to "the flesh alive", "garorock" or the show in Brixton Academy in London.
This band saved my life and changed my life's perspective. I feel happy that you are coming to this way bro. Cheers from Chile :)
I just witnessed a man have multiple eargasms in one sitting...
When I got metal I first started with Metallica then Nightwish, Megadeth and Rammstein. Pretty much after that I got into the really heavy shit where you had screams and growls. It was hard to listen at first because I had gotten used to the more cleaner vocals. But over time I started to understand them more and started to enjoy them. They bring more even heaviness and emotion to the tracks.
Drew, thank you so much for introducing me to this band! I didn't knew them before watching your video. That is exactly what I was looking for the whole time. And I love watching your videos mate, keep it up. You do awesome work! Greetings from germany, my man.
Ayyy my man! Glad you found a new band dude đđ»
The live video of them playing this at the vieilles charrues festival in 2010 is insane. Recommend watching it
Very professional and honest review. Thank you and you just got my sub! Good weekend and stay safe.
The end of the song is the start and main riff of the next song on the same album played backwards. The song is called Esoteric Surgery and it is excellent
I swear I listen to this song on loops for the last few days. And this comes up on my recommended.
My favorite song by gojira.. it holds me in a trance of joy every time
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Lets make this happen!
Hell yeah
Yes!
Agreed
Masterpiece
omg yes!!!
gojira is such an amazing band to listen to!
I just fucking love it when I see reaction videos to the glory that is gojira.
Great reaction! Well done.
Keep going with Gojira! I haven't delved too deeply into their catalogue yet but everything I've heard has been great!!
Oh my goodness, been jamming Gojira recently, love your flying whales reaction. Silvera and Stranded are great tracks, honesly this is the first time hearing this track along with you and my goodness why have I not come across this one yet. AMAZING.
The vocals do take a lot of getting used to. It's taken me a long time. I think it might be necessary for music that heavy though.
I see the Art of dying I click
meshuggah bleed (drum cam) I am determined!! hahaha and i'm in NY and i've been cooped up for days now.
You oughta see a live performance of them as well, absolutely amazing live
Another banger from the Frenchies :)
I'll continue my shouting out for you to check out Mastadon, The Last Baron, Jaguar God or Halloween for starters.
This was my favourite album when it came out 12 years ago. So ahead of its time. I still have a burning memory of listening to it on my iPod shuffle, walking down the road on a winter night in my hometown. Seeing the trees covered in snow, with the chilling wind and these nasty riffs in my ear is a memory I will never forget.
Meshuggah-Bleed (drum cam) if you want to be blown away
No, for the love of God, no to Bleed. Itâs been done to death, and it really isnât the best song to introduce someone to. Maybe something a little more dynamic like Electric Red, or something digestible like Break those Bones
I thought Bleed because of what he said of the double bass, but yeah I would also recommend Demiurge or Clockworks
Génies du métal. Vive Gojira. Great réaction. Looking forward for more
This song is how my anxiety makes me feel all day every day
Gojira and Meshuggah are my absolute favourite metal bands. So these last few days on your channel are just pure gold to me.
"that might be the fastest kick pedal i have ever heard"
-Thomas haake has joined the server lmao
Btw i HIGHLY suggest "Dancers to a discordant system" next... one of my faves by Meshuggah.
yey u did it! now time for remembrance. live from the link alive is out there for u and us :)
for even faster drumming I recommend "Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Violation" ;)
Awesome! New sub here, and yes Gojira is a crazy metal band that has a way of sinking their hooks into you. Check out Vacuity from this same album - itâs one of the songs that really makes you understand why the band is named after Godzilla.
Slainte! đșđ€
I like to watch this kind of video because they make me listen very carefully to these songs and catch every little details that the artists put into it.
Imho this Gojira masterpiece is something of another level, something above our comprehension. Something that makes you travel through dimensions.. simply amazing.
This song has everything I need, pure power. Goosebumps all the way through
The smile on your face when it drops. Made my day
He needed his security blanket. So cute.
Thank you for sharing your experience! đ€This album; The Way Of All Flesh, changed my life!
Esoteric Surgery - Gojira
Haha spot on! Brings me back to my first listen-through.. Blown away! You've had some unique sounding bands on your channel; Opeth, Zeppelin and now Gojira. Plenty of metal bands and genres can be 'more of the same' (And still be awesome ofc.) But there are also a few gems who invent new or their own things, who become true classics, like the ones on your channel. I'm thinking about some psychedelic cuts to your list: "Cult of Luna", Isis (the band: rip.) "Russian Circles" (instrumental + great song writing!). Or if you like more death(-ish) metal; Akercocke (Uk, big vocal range as well as great songwriting.), Gorefest (old dutch band, you'll like the last 2 records, great song writing) or Death (Roughly the 'slayer' type for deathmetal) Or maybe not even metal: Primus, Mogwai.. So much great music, so much to talk about haha. Thank you for reminding me.
nice reaction, keep it up
Gojira is one of the best bands still making music. I would do Oroborus next!
auto like) try song "Silvera". One of the best. And w8 Korn - This Loss. ))) thx for all
The drums on this song are absolutely nuts, especially that part in the beginning after that cool intro. Gojira is one of those bands that I can just listen to for hours and not get tired of them. Next you should react to Silvera or Born in Winter! And if you like the fast double bass check out Where Dragons Dwell.
Awesome reaction! You've gotta check out their song A Sight to Behold, amazing instrumentals and lyrics and seriously underrated
"Ocean planet" and "clone" are two amazing options too, I love the faces that you do, keep on it ;)
So good to see someone who enjoys the complexity of Gojira ! Makes me smile =) There are some truly amazing videos of them you might like but im thinking the Live version of Where Dragons Dwell at Hellfest. You will be amazed at the drumming again i promise !
A great job on the video bro. I think musically, Gojira is top notch when it comes to creativity. However, for me, the vocals don't strike me the way I was hoping they would. With the soul inspiring magic that say Tool gives. But I still Like what they did with this one đ
Gojira EPICđ„đ„đ€đ€ 2022 and this song is one of my favs..
đ hehe. Automatic like for this one. Loved seeing Gojira leaving such an impact on you. đ€đ»
Would love to see you try a bit of Crowbar, maybe Planets Collide, You Know (I'll Live Again) or Wrath of Time Be Judgement.
The first time I listened to this album I was liking a few tunes, thinking âoh yeah this is a good oneâ
Then The Art Of Dying cane on and gave me such a massive adrenaline dump, it builds you up so well and now itâs one of my favourite lifting songs
thank you for reacting to gojira
Dude... you are doing Gojira now? oh I"m about to have a front row seat for this. I stayed with you through TOOL but this is gonna take you somewhere completely different in a good way!!! My personal favorites are Oroborus, Where Dragons Dwell live at Hellfest 2013, and Silvera
Hell yes! Letâs go on a ride đ€Łđđ»đ„
Gojira are in their own lane. And amazing live!!
This is my favourite Gojira... is so deep and heavy
The gift of guit - live at Brixton Academy London.. Bring it!!!
If you ever have the chance, you should really hear them live. I've seen them last summer and they are reaaaally awesome!
Hell yeah, that outrow gets me every fuckin time
cant wait for the next reaction
The Gift of Guilt (live Brixton Academy) is one the best video's to see the technicianship and precision of Mario Duplantier!
Gojira has an amazing live video of Rememberance with a ton of shots of Mario doing his thing. The outro is killerrrrr
Love the poster!!!
Another masterpieces
7:37 - Hear the bass holding it all together to make it heavy???
Drew, I'm with you on the whole growling vocal style. I really don't like it at all but for some magical reason I love it with Gojira! And they seem to be moving away from it a little bit on the latest album Magma. Gojira, Devin Townsend, and the guitarist from Meshuggah did a track called 'Blood and Salt' that was intended for an album that never got released, but you can find it on CZcams. It may be one of the greatest metal songs ever made.... the metal equivalent to discovering pizza.
Yeees baby mooaaaar Gojira!!! For example The gift of guilt (live at brixton academy london) ;) The drumming there is insane
