Carving a 🦆out of Wood & Epoxy

- I carved a swan out of a massive piece of Buckeye Burl and 13 gallons of epoxy. I first cut the buckeye to the appropriate size. I then spent 2 weeks doing 6 separate pours of epoxy to get the volume I needed for the carving. Once the epoxy was cured, I used a chainsaw as well as other power tools to carve the swan out of the block. I then spent an absurd amount of time hand sanding everything before applying finish. I am really happy with how this sculpture turned out and eager to hear what you guys think! #woodcarving #epoxy #carving

👍Great video, amazing work. A little of each style with just your work & then maybe a little explanation thrown in.
Let's face it Blake, having your beautiful face and voice included in the video is as much the subject matter as the project itself and adds so much to the video's appeal, but I think you already know this and you are just toying with your audience.
At 4:00 it looks like a disgusting aquarium and then you start to work your magic and the ugly duckling turns into the beautiful swan. Fantastic piece. I like voiceover rather than music because I am always curious what the thought processes are and how you go about planning it.
I had to mute this one. I like hearing his narration. He has a soothing voice. The music was annoying.
I like both formats. watching the swan emerge in all it's golden glory was mesmerizing. I have enjoyed every one of your videos, and do like it when you point out some of the obstacles you encounter, and how you solve the problem, The swan appears to have been problem free and prefect.
No talking no music just the voice of tools and carving is fine
This wood sculpture work involves so much talent/skill, patience, knowledge, safety, interest, time consciousness, love to create, creativity, designing, etc. You are a marvellous creature in which all these parameters are mingled into one. Excellent piece of art.

I don't think burl wood is rotted wood - it is very expensive

WOW! Absolutely wonderful! I can really see this beauty sitting on a table in front of the window of a nice cabin with a view of the lake behind it. And a chandelier made from deer antler. And a couple of those canoe bookshelves also.

I think a mix of the two styles would be the best approach. Personally I really enjoy the voiceover, but I know these types of "oddly satisfying" videos usually get pushed by the algorithm. There were a couple sections that I feel would've benefited from an explanation, like swapping out the beak around halfway in.
Maybe popping in every minute or two to add a tidbit of insight instead of a VO through the entire thing would be the best way to make CZcams happy, while satisfying people who want more detail like myself.
Either way, I'm extremely impressed by your work, so I'll be here for it.
I really like that strategy actually. Doing music for the majority but then doing a voiceover for more pivotal moments. Thanks for the insight.

This piece came out beautifully! I was happy the beak came off because the wooden one just brings it full circle. About the music, I’d watch this without anything but the sound of the process, like an unintentional asmr✨✨✨

amazing as always! personally i love the voiceovers. i like to watch your videos while i’m doing other things like cooking, cleaning, etc. and having the explanations are nice so i don’t exactly NEED to watch every second when i’m doing something else. also, i’m a former sculpture student and want to get back into making art, and having the explanations/voiceovers help me learn new tricks for when i get back into it. love the videos!

Another gorgeous piece! I've never been one to wrap my head around sculptures. I can build up to something, but being able to see something inside of a block of marble (or resin & wood, as the case may be) and work my way down to it, that just blows my mind.

Music or no music, just as long as it doesn’t detract from your watching you work on your project. I’m mesmerized watching you turn out your craft. I actually just have a bunch of questions. What inspires you? Do you already have a sculpture in mind, then you pick the wood for the piece, or vise-versa? Where do you source your wood pieces from? How much time in total did it take to finish this project? Would be able to share where you are located or to find you business? At what price do your commission(s) begin? Finally! What an amazing idea, project and finish. True Talent.
Yet another exquisite piece, Blake! Although I enjoyed watching this one, and know that music saves you time, I definitely prefer to hear about your thoughts and strategies that go into these artistic creations, but I will continue watching either way!

Gorgeous! It looks like things I used to see as a kid. They would mold shapes and set new pennies in them, or little gold looking shavings. I'm not sure if it was real or not, but they'd be paperweights and stuff. The wood in yours looks gold.
