Hello, on ECT ground I have no continuity to any pin of ECU or to vehicle ground, when I test it with multimeter beeper. Is it fault in wiring for sure? Car is having very bad temp. related issues like bad cold starts and stalling when hot. It is volvo 850 and I have no fault codes thrown. Thank you for video!
You have a missing ground, concentrate on the.
could you probe the wiring shorting connector at the ita with a multimeter continuaty test and if it beeps your wiring is good
No
Thanks for this. You said dont apply 12v to ground side because it will damage the ECU? However, how would you load test the ground side? would you use an incadescent test light to B+?

I like to use a variable resistor, put it in series and move resistance while looking at data to see if it changes. Checks wiring and computer processing data very quickly
Ok, that's a more advanced video I want to do next. Yes, the issue is that in newer systems, if the ECM sees a sudden rise in temperature it'll flag a code. I am actually working on a sensor simulator, electronically based, that operates like the ECM. Like to test cooling FAN reaction, injection pulse when cold, and temperature related issues to do with the ECM. by the way, your Zapper Cable is on the way. autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com
Sounds like you recorded the audio in the bathroom. Good video 👍
And I did, but I wasn't pooping. Just washing my hands... Just kidding.
Thanks for posting.

Nice video in the wiring diagram the arrow going to ecm microprocessor is wrong the wire has got to be takened
What's wrong about it. It's a two wire simple sensor, consisting of a voltage divider network. One resistor inside the ECM the other the sensor itself. www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com

Yes ur correct When I looked at the wiring diagram I found the problem I created thought I saw the wire connected to the 5 volt ecm Kind of jumped the gun SORRY
Toptoptoptop
That's right...

Sorry the wire has got to go between the 2 resistors to sense voltage drop cheers
One resistor is inside the ECM the other is the ECT itself. In escence it's a voltage divider network. www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com
When you say “jump” do you mean add 5 volts
Ok your video answered thanks
Yeah, I see you got it. Sure, the signal wire, when disconnected has 5 volts. This is in series with the ECM internal resistor.
