The thing is, his stamina will be significantly better than anybody else on the field, so he’ll stay fast until the end of the game
I doubt that will be hard. Each player is on the pitch in play for about 4 minutes.

This isn't a video game. Football is a game about explosion. How fast can you be for 4 seconds? Once those 4 seconds are over you get a 30 second break (or longer) and then you do it again. There's really no need to have a bunch of stamina because even the best players get significant breaks to recover. It's rare that they are going so up-tempo that dudes get tired and can't reach top speed.
No he won’t. He’s adjusting for the game he’s in. No need for stamina now so no point in maintaining it at the expense of other skills.

It's interesting that whenever you see a rugby back play with NFL folk, you notice that their body shape is very different from most NFL players - and rugby backs almost all gave the same body shape of wide chest, narrow waist, huge thighs
