Jja-yo in Korean means 'it's salty'.
    Ja-you is freedom.
Love your vlogs. I have relatives in Seoul, Busan and Jeju. My brother was stationed in Daegu for several years. Your trip through Korea makes me nostalgic and amazed by the things I've missed in my many trips to the motherland.
I highly recommend hiking Mt Halla. I have meniscus issues too and was able to do it. Depending on the trail you choose it is relatively easy hike until the very top. But it should be a piece of cake for someone who's hiked in the Himalayas like you.
    Ja-yoe

Agree on the chopsticks. Picking up dumplings is a challenge. Love the drone flight. Appears to have a long range. I'd be scared it would end up in the water.

I just finished ( well... 5 days ago!) triking around jeju for the third time in my life. Jeju is unique to even most koreans in that the language, climate and culture are quite different in their own ways. You might find the farms are different to peninsula korea and even most houses in jeju are designed to first and foremost fend off wind which is the most prevalant thing in jeju along with vocanic stones. Hope you enjoy this wonderful journey and I think you are doing quite well (although I think you stopped a bit earlier if you planed to tour the entire island for just 3 days.)

Hello Matt, funny that he would mention running over garlic. In northern South Korea, they would lay peppers out peppers and take up most of the road. If I had an emergency call where I was driving an ambulance, then I would try to miss them if I could. But if they took up too much space or there were traffic on the other side, I would end up running over them a couple times a week. Peppers that is. please give me more information about the new drone and your operational costs for its? tell me more about how to access your Garmin account to download route data? I would like to see video of you flying your drone and getting nervous about how far it's gone. When you find out the limits of your battery, or you may quick, timed hops up and then down? Allen

Really loving your videos, lots of scenic views, great color and quality, and they are interesting. Sound is pretty good most of the time too. I love seeing other countries from your point of view, so to speak. I sometimes wish I had your ability to eat anything. A lot of what you eat I would never think of eating. I find some of the most interesting bits are when you meet people and put them in your vlog. It just goes to show that most people really are very kind and hospitable no matter where they live or race. I learned a lot of that from my bike rides across Iowa on Ragbrai. (ragbrai.com) I do worry a bit that your damaging your knee when I hear you say it's clicking. Vlogs are a little behind Facebook, but I enjoy them all. I think your also using instagram. Have you put out your JaYoe shirts yet? I would love to get one for biking on Ragbrai in late July. Performance shirt of course, not cotton. I know riding a trike or bike that it can be hard to stop when your in a grove, but this is a once in a life time event for you. Make sure you take the time to stop and enjoy what's around you.

Did I miss something here..? I thought this was a 5yr. plan of cycling around the globe, and now from what you said, your heading back to China and then comeback to South Korea to climb some mountain..I just must have misunderstood you when you left for your third attempt to circumnavigate the world... My bad..! But nice video, and can hardly wait to see the climb, which should be very interesting..... Ja Yoe....!

Zachary Mohrmann He's doing the trip in sections, not around the world in 80 days style. He has a wife and baby back in China to think of too, so travelling from place to place with breaks to go home is the most practical option.

i think the reason behind the metal ones, i may be wrong here, is the amount of waste that chopsticks create when thrown away. the metal ones can be reused and washed. Good for the environment. just think how many trees could be saved if over 1 billion Chinese people stopped using them. I heard there are other alternatives as well. In the states we really do not use them so hard to know. Not as many Koreans as Chinese but i doubt they have the resources there in wood anyway. I don't really know how much forest they left.
