    Great to hear man! I find a lot of beatmaking tutorials on YT don't really get into details, they just show someone making a beat. So I wanted to give insight into my process in hopes it helps a few people!

  • @jeepzondabeatz
    @jeepzondabeatz  Před 11 lety

    I use "AHD" and adjust the Attack % there. Remember to augment your Hold % too, or your chop will fade way real quick. Augmenting the Attack % to say somewhere between 35-55% will make the chop noticeably fade in as opposed to hitting at the same velocity. If you time your chops with your drums hitting, then it'll mimic that ducking sound. Write back if you have more questions!

  • @jeepzondabeatz
    @jeepzondabeatz  Před 11 lety

    Yeah! You can record directly into the Maschine, but you can also just import a .wav or .aif file in as well. You import it into on of the groups, press "sampling" then "edit" and you're good to go! (Turn the group's polyphony to 1 so that the chops cut each other other.)

  • @jeepzondabeatz
    @jeepzondabeatz  Před 11 lety

    My usual comfort zone is between 88-95BPM So I am usually within that range. But I let the sample dictate otherwise, anywhere from 80-105BPM. I go with with BPM that seems to fit best, and adjust accordingly depending on how it sounds and how a drum break fits in. But if you are chopping into smaller pieces, and doing the same with the drums, you have a lot of flexibility in choosing your tempo. If you let a break run, or loop a sample, you're best off doing a tap tempo and using that.

    You can configure your MIC port on your computer as an audio in port through the audio menu. If you go into your Maschines menu, you can configure the audio IN port to be the same one you set up for your MIC port, I called mine Line in, and set the port to be the same "line in" and from there what you do is you go to the audio routing menu and set up line in as one of your audio in settings and then in the sampling section of maschine select that line in that you set up.(It's confusing)

  • @jeepzondabeatz
    @jeepzondabeatz  Před 11 lety

    I'll try and incorporate more of that in my next vid when I get a chance to make one! I wrote a lot of notes in the subtitles of the video which have tips to get you started. If you are just starting out, I suggest starting with finding nice samples and looping them..once you are at ease with looping, then refine your chopping..once you get that down, you can start really tweaking the chops too. It's all a matter of trial and error.

    Amazing work guys. Great editing and pacing. I've been using the new Book of Echoes expansion with Maschine 2.0 and being able to load in unlimited kits is really helpful.

  • @jeepzondabeatz
    @jeepzondabeatz  Před 11 lety

    Well if you have the music on your computer, all you need is for it to be in .wav form. You can get free programs like Audacity i believe to convert whatever audio file to .wav. Then, Maschine's software can load it in like any other audio file.
    You can also record directly into the Maschine via your Audio Interface if you have one.

I just got a Numark ttusb but idk how to get it sampling the records and chopping them in Maschine. Are you recording the vinyl into the Maschine software? I have a soundcard and a mixer as well but I have yet to figure out the process.if getting it properly setup. If you can please give me some insight or some help I would really appreciate it!! I prefer to record into my DAW (Adobe Audition) but it can be done directly into the Maschine. I just record in via the usb, but the record player is also connected into the audio interface.
      But put simply, you can just record into a DAW by using the usb as audio input, save that to .wav and load the file into Maschine. Good luck and feel free to ask more questions!

    What function did you use to pitchshift all of the pads so the sample would fit nicer?

      Snook 6 Vision7 Thanks man! What I do is have the turntable plugged into my audio interface. And whatever comes out of the interface can be recorded directly into machine. If it's a USB turntable, you can do the same thing. Or failing that, you can record from your TT into a separate DAW, save the WAV file and import that into Maschine. Hope this helps!

      Also can you use handphones with Machine? Because I don't have any studio monitors.

      Snook 6 Vision7 I have a Roland Quad-Capture interface. Relatively cheap model that gets the job done for what I need, one mic, one turntable, and the monitors.

      Snook 6 Vision7 Yes. You just plug them into your interface or directly into your laptop/computer. I use headphones late nights or times I don't wanna bug people with loud music haha. Just got to make sure they are good quality otherwise the overall sound and mix will suffer.

    Where do you find your bass wav files? Do you have a collection of wavs?

    • @jeepzondabeatz
      @jeepzondabeatz  Před 10 lety

      They are all either built-in to Maschine, or in the Native Instruments Massive package I purchased.
