- Oh how I love Tri Tip. I also love finding new flavors that I can bring to it, and this Ginger Garlic marinade, followed up by a Flaps 20 dry rub, results in a perfectly flavored cut of beef after a bath in Cherry Wood smoke on the Weber Kettle.
Marinade Ingredients
4 TBSP Minced Garlic
3 TBSP Crushed Ginger
1/3 cup Red Wine Vinegar
2 TBSP Olive Oil
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Pepper

I smoked this cut of meat last weekend just like you did it in your video. It turned out AMAZING. This has to be the best cut of meat ever. Thanks Ry.
Another beautiful job on the tri tips.
Tri Tip is my weakness :)
Just finished a very successful cook of tri tip using this recipe and method. Absolutely delicious. I used a rub with a southwest spice orientation and it went wonderfully. I 'm keeping this ginger garlic marinate in the quiver. Thanks Ry.
That's fantastic!
I'm with you Ry. I love tri-tip. That is about the only good thing living in Calif., is that tri-tip is easy to get.
As easy as chicken!
That looked awesome.
Thanks!
Terrific tri-tip. Great job, once again. Cheers Ry!
Thanks!
I love tri-tip. I use maple wood.
I don't think I've used maple with Tri Tip yet. I'll have to give it a try :)
Nice!
I love my Tri Tips :)
Beautiful color inside and out! Wish I could get tri tip here. Maybe one day.
Yeah I'd love to see you do a Tri Tip, my friend :)
That looked perfectly cooked. Nice job Ry
It sure was tasty :)
Im lucky, most of our tri tip is cleaned up out here. That's a great flavor profile
That's nice when it's all trimmed up :)
I have never had cherry smoked tri tip before! the ginger garlic and cherry all together sounds good almost in a league of its own! I will have to try this sometime. great video
Yeah it was a nice pairing :)
I cooked my 1st Tri Tip a couple weeks ago and it was awesome! Wish they were easier to find here...
I'm still amazed by how limited they are by area.
@@CookingWithRy I don't understand it. I had never really heard of tri tip until I started watching your videos. And I really want to try them. But if you don't live in California, apparently, they're hard to find. It's not like the rest of the world doesn't have cows. Or the cows have different parts. How does nobody around here (that I know of) not have tri tip? Do they just ship them all to CA?
@@howlinmad03 It has baffled me since I learned about how they are limited by location. Like you said, cows are cows, right? :)
Delicious! Thanks Rye. So thankful we live so close. Todd loved it to. So much flavor in that meat.
Awesome!
I hate the fact you can not buy a Tri-Tip in Michigan. Makes me want to move back to Nevada.
I always wonder whether you guys have different cows up there ;)
Was thinking the same thing.
Sit down, get comfy to watch one of your videos, become extremely hungry, have to get up to find food. Every single time! Great video as always Ry!
Thanks!
Great tri tip! Have you ever injected any tri tip with beef broth or stock? I saw a horseradish dry rub the other day and I wondered how well it would work on tri tip.
I've injected once, but didn't notice a great difference since the cook time is so short and there's abundant moisture in the meat. That horseradish rub is something I would try!
Always great cooks, & good info, thanks so much Ry!
You're very welcome :)
I'm making this tommorw.. Can't wait.. Funny that I bought my first tritip and you have this amazing cast.... On some of your tritips you go to 130 why did you go to 135?
Had a few people who like it a tiny bit more done than my usual 130 preference :)
Thanks.. We typically like our beef rare and I wasn't sure if this cut would work rare
This recipe was fantastic... I have pictures but don't see how I can send them
Hi Ry, this looks amazing. I have a Char Griller Wrangler barrel style grill. Can I use the same basic principals for smoking as you use here on your Weber kettle? Thanks!
Absolutely.
Cooking With Ry thanks for the quick response, can’t wait to try this! Only had the grill for two days but I’ve binged at least 30 of your videos in that time 😆
Looks perfect.
I made my own rub today using a few dried anchos and some other spices. Mainly ginger and garlic :)
I love making rubs like that :)
I've got to get a Tri tip. Have to order on-line. That looks great. Really Like.
Hi MERRY Christmas to you and your family and friends happy new years. Thank you for the great video.
And a Merry Christmas to you!
Random comment, but I'm doing tri tip research right now. XD Gonna be cooking up two nice ones today on the charcoal grill. Gonna do indirect and stuff. But I was wondering, about how long did it take you to cook that one? The ones I have about about 2- 2 1/2 pounds. I wanna kind of try to go for a slow cook, but also something that isn't going to take 5 hours. Lol.
Tri Tip generally isn’t going to take more than 60-90 minutes at most.
@@CookingWithRy Oh! Cool beans! Wasn't sure if there was a longer time it could cook for. This works! :) Thank you!
Perfectly cooked bro. Such a great color on the outside. I love tri tip but just cant get it around here.
I know I torture half the country every time I smoke a Tri Tip :)
Awesome tri tip, love the channel. Have you ever considered a komodo style smoker? Easy to tell you love that kettle, they're irreplaceable.
It's probably in the 'get' category somewhere down the road :)
Why not keep the garlic?
Often the bits of minced garlic can burn when searing the meat. If there are too many bits remaining on the surface it can add an unpleasant taste :)
@@CookingWithRy Ahhh.... Gotcha. Makes sense.
Thats been a learnfull vid agen Ry. Nice piece of meat..🔥🔥 lovely medium rare
So much flavor and tenderness you are removing. :-(
I am? How?
@@CookingWithRy fat is flavor and tenderizing.
@@brewingman56 After hundreds of Tri Tips smoked, I've never found the excess hard fat to do anything but block flavor getting to the meat.
First :)
