  • Tottenham Hotspur have had a rough stretch in the English Premier league to finish the season after a four game losing streak, some fans are ready to sack the manager. I however, think that Ange is the right man for the job. Spurs have struggled, but there is a lot of hope for the future.

I do think Ange is the right man for the job at spurs but he will have to learn to make tweaks to how he approaches games. While I respect his dedication to his playing philosophy he’s either stubborn to a fault or just a little naive.
Playing the exact same way every game makes you predictable and teams will start figuring it out as you’ve seen with teams now knowing to play the long ball into the channels where they have acres of space. Sticking with a high press when down to 9 men against Chelsea was one of the dumbest tactical decisions I’ve ever seen. Also his dismissal of the importance of set pieces was bizarre to hear considering how many goals they’ve let in off them.
I can see spurs winning a cup with this play style but never the league the most goals ever conceded by a PL winner was 45… spurs are at 58 with 3 games to go, their biggest would be rivals to the league Arsenal and City have given up 30 and 25 less goals respectively. Defence wins championships but you can’t even say that’s spurs are a better attacking team than those 2 sides because both have scored around 20 more goals than them as well.
Given time Ange can make something special out of spurs but only if he can balance his all out attack style with a little more pragmatism

People have seemingly already forgotten where spurs were when ange took over not even a year ago. Had three highly defensive coaches one after another who would pile a lot of pressure onto the players, players who were bought by those coaches for the purpose of defence first and play off the ball. Ange plays the opposite to how spurs have been conditioned to play, the opposite to the player's skillsets.
Spurs finished outside of Europe last year and then lost their best player by far who last season had the best year of his career, and still they didn't get Europe. Many were predicting spurs wouldn't get top 10 this year, and if not for a major injury crisis, spurs would probably be in the top 4 right now.
Yes, teams have seemingly figured out ange ball now, but that's only down to the players not being good enough at what ange wants them to do to make ange ball work. Spurs also have no versatility in the attack, no big, physical striker up front to offer a more dynamic way to play. No one to cross to, no one to get stuck in and hold up play for the rest of the team, no one to win long balls, no threat through the centre of the opponents final third, that's why the ball keeps getting recycled round the box until a long shot or wasteful cross is tried. Midfield needs a boost yes, but above all, spurs need someone up top that offers something very different to the rest of the frontline.
Ange has done the best job he can with this team, he has far outperformed expectations, give the man time.

@@lukessportsacademy Please make a video about Leverkusen. They are playing one of the best seasons in football history. New european record with 49 matches unbeaten. Last defeat was last matchday last season so they are only 4 games away from being the first team in history to go a full season unbeaten nationally and internationally. The biggest madness is that against Roma they turned a 0:2 in the 83rd minute into a 2:2 in the 97th minute. Already against Dortmund and Stuttgart and now for the second time in the Europa League they scored in the 97th minute to keep the series alive. 32 goals after the 80th minute this season and 12 goals after the 90th minute this season. There has never been anything like it

@@lukessportsacademyand Leverkusen was a similar club to Tottenham with the nickname Neverkusen. They don't had a winners mentality in the last 35 years. And Xabi Alonso made every player better in 1 1/2 season and has instilled a winning mentality in the whole team and now the team suddenly feels unbeatable. That's exactly what you said in the video that a coach has to do

Problem for Ange is he's been worked out, look at the North London derby the other week, Arsenal let Spurs have the ball, because they knew counter attacking was probably their best option, also Spurs can't defend set pieces, Ange started well but like I said people have figured him out, I'm predicting (im aware he could prove me wrong) that Ange is gone by Christmas, yes I'm an Arsenal fan but I promise you this isn't me just taking a shot at Spurs

It is quite funny to hear all this given that everything you're asking for is exactly what Mikel Arteta has accomplished at Arsenal over the past 4 years. Took them from a laughingstock, lowest point in decades, back to back 8th place finishes, to where we are now, back in the Champions League and still neck and neck for the Premier League with Guardiola's best ever team going into the last game of the season. And you're right, if we manage to pull it off, it will be the sweetest victory possible, because we've seen the entire transformation happen right before our eyes.

I thought Ange Postecoglou was exactly what Spurs needed, a guy who re-invents clubs but I don't think what he's re-inventing Spurs into works in the premier league. I think he's like ETH, his ideologies don't suit the EPL, I think Ange and ETH would kill it and Bayern, Barca or Madrid but in such a competitive league they become useless with their stubborn ways. Some styles don't work in the EPL, they may work at first but once teams figure you out you're done unless you adapt.

the thing about tottenham is they have all the ingredients to become one of most respected club in the world or at least in england. I was nearly became a spurs fan back in early 2010s when I want to choose a club to support in the EPL, they were passionate, good football, good players, and i love their history. Inconsistency is the biggest thing in this club. Its obvious and things kinda change after they lost the UCL final against Liverpool back in 2019. Even the follow up of the game during the season, things were hectic. Upper management started to not care about the football, really sad actually. Don't get me wrong they are a big team in europe. Seems to me that Ange is the right person for now for this club. He's passionate, play good football. I hope for the best for spurs. They just need to execute and focus on the football and avoid the noise.

I think 2 of the 4 losses were against your Cowboys. I really wish the fans and player there could break that curse. The last 2 seasons weren't that bad. Really loved this vid.
I obviously want Spurs to lose and wish the worst for them, not because I have any kind of personal issue - just because pretty much all my life, apart from a few years were Spurs were fighting relegation and a few years where Villa were awful and did get relegated - Villa and Spurs have been fighting for the same sort of spots in the league. So a negative result for Spurs has often been a positive one for Villa. But, where you said "It might never happen, but I want to be there *if* it does".
That's so much of what being a fan of European football is about. A lot people in the US, particularly online, don't understand why someone would devote their whole lives to going every week and spending loads of money follow "Blah Blah Town" in the 8th tier of football, in little muddy stadiums with 300 people, with virtually no chance to see them win a trophy in your lifetime. But the reason that people do, is because one day they might win the playoffs and go up to the next league, or even just beat a big team in the FA Cup. And everyone wants to be there on that journey for their community.

I don’t chase trophies! 😬 Sometime that sucks for me as a fan but I don’t know another way. Where’s the fun in supporting a team that guarantees an automatic trophy? Especially as a new fan with the ability to choose a club. The struggle makes the victories sweeter.

Tottenham's recent run of form isn't something to be concerned about. Bottling is the default nature of Spurs.
You've had a number of great managers over the past decade, and there's nothing any of them could do to help the club - not while you have the same owners at least.
It would be nice to see the same logic applied to United however. Rory is right in that Ange often gets a free pass, whereas Ten Hag is given a massively toxic treatment by the media.
